big fan and appreciate this video. one Q... at 3:16, are you saying "right off the bat" or "back" as the cc says?

Followed all your instructions, but for some reason I can't get the old version of the subtitles to go away. They're showing underneath the new edited version. Any ideas??

I think I know what happened and I need to make a video about this as well. Take a look at the time codes of your captions. Do you see that one ends say at 5 seconds but the next one starts at 3 seconds? If you do, then it will look like the captions are writing on top of each other. I saw this bug and there is a way to fix it. I was going to make a video about it but I didn't know if anyone else was having the problem and I think you are. If so, there is a reasonably easy fix for it.

BTW, what I meant to say are the times overlapping?

YES - that looks like its the problem! So what's the easy fix? I need to get these published so I can upload a video to Facebook ASAP.

I'm assuming this is Morris, yes? Here's what you need to do:
Copy and paste everything into Word
Do a convert Text to table so you have columns of numbers, in and out times, the quote, and then there's a blank column
Copy and paste that to Excel.
Use =LEFT function to just grab the IN time.
Then copy and paste the VALUES of that to another column, but shift everything up one row and make that the new OUT time.
Then use the Concatenate feature to take the new IN time and connect it to the new and correct OUT time.
Then you have to copy and paste this all back into Word and convert table to text and then paste the new text into the caption file.
I'm going to make a video of this and provide a template.

actually this is Sarah, director of mktg & comms. thanks for these instructions - very complicated, but finally figure it all out!! The timings are a bit off... and some captions don't stay up long enough to read them... so it's definitely going to take some tweaking, but at least there's captions of some sort now showing on one of our facebook videos. thanks!
