- Currently Rockhounding and KatyDid hunt for Montana agates - this video has been three years in the making! Jared and Sarah from Currently Rockhounding finally made the trek from Washington state to the Yellowstone River in eastern Montana. Kate and Jim met up with them to hunt for Montana agates, petrified wood, colorful jasper and more. Come along for adventure, laughs, gorgeous scenery and so many beautiful rocks!

4 of my favorite people and one of my favorite doggies. Loved all the beautiful agates and pet wood, but I favor the beautiful jaspers. My favorite was the colorful one at about 15:00 min. Keep the fun coming. 🤗 😷⚒

Wow! You guys found so many great rocks. Missed you live last night. We were up camping in the Big Horns. I really need to come up there and do some rock hunting. I found a good size piece of green jasper up in the mountains. That was a surprise for the mountains where I'm at. Thanks for sharing Kate!😊

I know Jared is not a huge fan of the river gravel rockhounding but you just can’t beat the Yellowstone river! I’m sure he and Sarah enjoyed it. Glad to see you guys teamed up.

hello Katy if you ever come to New Mexico let me know i have a lot of cool places i can take you. i live in truth or consequences, you can hunt rocks in the day and go sit in the hot baths at night. rhyolite, fossils. fluorite , pyrite, calcite, and barite to name a few rocks we find here and easy places. Take care G

What is fortified agate?
Fortification agate - it means that there is banding around a central point, like a fortification (fort).
