"Protecting people is what I do, you should know this by now"-Kara Danvers to Lena Luthor
"Protecting you is what I do, you will know this from now on"-Lena Luthor to Kara Danvers
The writers were never able to make Supercorp Canon, though they clearly wanted to. So instead they used double meanings in everything. One of those hints they sent was Andrea Rojas. They made sure we saw Lena had feelings like she did for Kara before. You can't tell me the Andrea thing was am accident by the writers. They used parallels in that entire relationship right as Supercorp was at its largest in popularity. This was to tell us Lena had deep feelings for the same sex before. So as a Behavioral Health Professional I have a breakdown that I think Supercorp fans will appreciate. Lena broke the way she did because the things she was hiding were brought to the surface and not just her denial of who Supergirl was. I'm not saying the show was implying Lena realized she was gay, but they were implying Lena cared for Kara in a way that went beyond friendship. Lena's pain was that she thought Kara didn't care as much as she did. Then Kara did her own speech and Lena realized that Kara was in as much denial as she had been. Season 6 is kind of proof of my theory. Season 6 was primarily Lena helping Kara except herself for who she is. Now this can be taken multiple ways and that was intentionally done by writers who weren't aloud to make them blatantly Canon, so instead they used double meaning on almost everything in season 6. Lena knew before Kara how she felt, that was clear by how different Lena became after she realized how she felt. The rest of the time was her patiently helping Kara come to terms with her own feelings and you can see Kara slowly except these things. Denial can be very very powerful. But if you look, Lena had slowly taken Alex's place in Kara's life and even Alex herself noticed this. You can't tell me Alex would feel okay in letting just a friend take her role in Kara's life. No she felt safe in leaving Kara with Lena cause she saw the connection, the writers made sure we knew Alex knew. All of this was intentionally made apparent to us that Lena had become the most important person in Kara's life and that last scene was Lena telling Kara she excepted herself and all that she is and that if Kara did the same, she would be there for her. Kara taking off the glasses while staring at Lena was a symbol from the writers of Kara excepting herself and an expression of what mattered to her, Lena Luthor.

@krissad2145 Subtext is becoming a huge thing in media these days and the Supergirl writers went all out in their use of it because they weren't allowed to make Supercorp happen. So they instead heavily implied. But if you take the word magic and switch it with something else, Kara and Lena's conversations throughout season 6 suddenly change. They used Lena's magic as a way to hint at a different meaning. Same with Kara finding herself and coming to terms with herself as Supergirl, switch that to something else, and coming out as Supergirl suddenly means something more. I'm not just reaching here, the conversations don't make much sense unless you change the context because why would Kara taking off her glasses at a wedding where everyone already knows who she is mean anything? It wouldn't, unless it meant something other than Supergirl, it meant she accepted something deeper about the person she was staring at when she took them off.
Do you really not believe in magic/ love?
      I believe in you.
That's just 1 example. But they did things like that throughout the season. The word magic was used as a stand in for another meaning. It was also used to imply that Lena was finding herself and Kara is the reason her she wanted to use her "magic"and her magic only truly worked when Kara was around.

@@ryanabate1981 yes, exactly! Truth be told, while watching the series I wasn't quick to jump on the Supercorp shipping wagon. But then season 5 happened, and later season 6 (which is basically the Supercorp fanfiction in and of itself). When watchig season 6, I was just losing it - Kara and Lena constantly encouraging each other (the case with Lena's magic you mentioned, as an example), Lena being there for Kara and vice versa, them sharing their deepest concerns and fears with each other, spending evenings together and having dinners (right after the Densen scenes!). We were robbed of off so much.

@@krissad2145 So Melissa Benoist signed up for a service called Cameo to earn some money during the writers strike. Cameo is a service where fans can request a celebrity to create a short video for fans who are willing to pay their fee. Melissa has made quite a few of these little videos that can be anything from a birthday thing or a fan can ask her a series of questions. Up until this point, Melissa has avoided directly answering certain questions, she's managed to side step Supercorp questions. However, a fan purchased Cameo time and asked directly about Supercorp and Melissa made the choice to answer the questions. According to Melissa, early on her and Katie did not approach scenes romantically, that was never their initial intention. However, as the show progressed, Supercorp became the largest following. Melissa said that her and Katie both felt strongly about rewarding the fans for their loyalty. She confirmed that what we were seeing, was not an accident, the looks they gave each other were intentional by them both
She said it was sort of a wink wink nudge nudge for the fans. She said in season 6 there is a reason they have William a girlfriend and had Mon El say he will never be able to return, according to Melissa, it was to make sure fans knew Kara only had one interest remaining in her life.
