+Joe and Pam Bell Shut up who cares bro.
amen brotha
Giles Correy died like a bad ass . They killed him by pressing him to death ( basically stacking weight on him until he suffocated or was crushed). Even during the execution they kept trying to get him to confess but all he kept shouting was " more weight , add more weight!".
Fr bro is him
And it’s just for his kids so that they won’t lose their property. What a king
goat
I didn't enjoy a lot of stories we had to read in school. But this was pretty good. I liked the way that Arthur Miller used the story to express his feelings after being blacklisted as a communist.
and the affair of Abigail being him and monroe
French Revolution, Rise of third Reich, Soviet Revolution, cultural revolution and more. All witch trials. It's amazing how sheep like people can be. Cultural Revolution, French Revolution and BLM have the most in common: clown shows.
Agreed! I read the play and watched the movie in English class a month or so ago, and I thought it was amazing
This video is great but it doesn't talk about how Abigail set Elizabeth up with the doll with a needle in it and how Abigail stabbed herself. And it doesn't talk about who dies in the end
Merideth Murdock IKR. The Crucible ends with an execution, not a ripped confession.
@@orionsarrow1025 the confession was ripped, and then he was executed, as the video stated
Neither did you!
they fully left out Rebecca Nurse and Ann Putnam who are such an iconic duo
i’m 6 years late but if u still remember can u explain what happened and what part of the story it took okay in?
Rebecca the old lady is the best character. The only person in this book that seems to have a common sense. She was accused of being a witch too, but instead of confessing to get out of being hanged, she denied it and would rather have died with honor.
Yeah, John Proctor did the same thing.
Madison Donahou Rebecca is the only character that’s likable. Proctor was a cheater and Rebecca didn’t do anything wrong
@@kimberlydang4403 I mean at least proctor tried to redeemed himself to his wife during that time and tried to save his wife with the other husbands. Rebecca is a inncount women who deversed nothing of what happened(like most of them). Hale is I think the first judge to realized they fucked up and didn't continue this bullshittery after his realization. Abigal can die in a ditch though.
Kinda love rebecca
I love Rebecca Nurse 😭😭
Fun fact: in real life Abigail was like 11
The affair actually didn't happend
+360 Degrees ^ fun fact . Lmao
More like 16 than 11
Alexia B 16 during play 11 during affair
John Proctor actually didn't exist :T
It's 1 AM, I have to wake up at 6, and my test is at 10. Wish me luck.
Exact. Same. Here. wtf
I'm 2 years late but good luck
Hey sorry I'm 3 years late but how did it go ?
same
hey sorry I'm only 4 years late, good luck anyways
Greetings from Salem, Massachusetts!
Poor Elizabeth, victim from the very beginning
..........no mention of how this play is an allegory for the Red Scare and McCarthyism. Miller wrote this play in response to everyone and their mother being accused of Communism.
YES! Vital to understand, but I don't think the video was to explain the Arthurs intention, it was rather to explain the situation in the story.
If kids are watching this to prepare for an exam, it's probably gonna come up.
Madelyn Kontis again, he's just explaining the story, how would he even know if this is the stuff children are learning?
It does say in the title it's a summary not an Analysis
@@departedoutlaw1565 i am a child and i am learning this
Those crazy Puritans, bunch of silly willies.
nah
John Proctor represents what manhood is and demonstrates human error and regret. This is a beautiful story that still represents human nature, that is still seen today in modern day life. I am murdering the exam tomorrow !!!!!!!! #beautiful
THE FACT YOU EVEN TRY TO DEFEND THIS BOOK MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. I AM ASHAMED TO SHARE OXYGEN WITH THE TYPE OF CREATURE YOU ARE, READING THIS WAS WORSE THAN WATCHING THE SECOND PLANE HIT THE TOWER YOU PRIVLIGED WHITE STRAIGHT MAN. I HOPE YOU FAIL YOUR EXAM AND CHOKE ON YOUR NEXT CAPRISUN
tale of 2 cities 1935
HONEY NO WHAT IS YOU DOING
syndroms daddy stfu bitch
@@syndromsdaddy6643 damn you really did not like this book huh. well if i may ask why don't you like the crucible.
Dear Sparknotes,
Thank you SO much for all your videos! They are amazing!! Everything is so easy to understand! You guys are doing great job!!
Thank you!!!!
This video also left out an IMPORTANT event:
Mary warren works for the Procter Famliy. When she goes over to the Procter home, she tells the family about who is accuessed and she gives Elizabeth a doll that she has made. Mary had stuck a pin inside the doll for safe keeping. Elizabeth takes the doll and sends Mary away. When Elizabeth is aressted; the officals find the doll and see that the doll has a pin inside it. They think that Elizabeth had done that to the doll to hurt Abigal. (Voodoo)
thats crazy omg
Yep. Abigail was something else
Anybody sad about the death of Giles Cory?
He was a badass
He died a badass. Huge respect
@@antoniofernandez3122 "More weight"
@@jake_vollmer1767 Those words were so epic!
We read the whole play out loud, and I was Giles for an act, so it made me extra sad when he died
the plot of this play is like a fucking spiderweb of names and information
Watching this in quarantine, because teachers have the audacity to assign work 😪
dude this is frikin awesome i love how our society makes it so we dont even have to read summaries of books anymore!
it’s been 10 years, you still reading book summaries bro? 💪
@@sammy2725 11 lol
yea I haven't read a book for 2years thanks to summarys
Here before my final exam😭😩thank you
Wow this was extremely helpful. Thank you Sparknotes, I couldn't make it through high school with out you! lol
These illustrations are utterly magnificent! Thank you
That was good but you forgot to mention the whole bit where Danforth discovers Elizabeth is pregnant and when he gives Proctor the opportunity to save Elizabeth, he denies as he cannot give up on his friends who have also gone to the court to testify. Other than that, good study tool before my exam tomorrow (shootout to anyone else studying this play with 12 hours left until their exam).
Isn't it important to note that betty woke up when Abby was screaming at everyone to keep their mouths shut which made it obvious that she was faking the entire time?
And when everyone was accusing other villagers, when she randomly woke up just to throw out a name 😆
we had to read this for school and i’m honestly really happy that we did. this play is one of my favorites and i thought that it was very interesting
This was the best summery I've heard so far. Thank you sparknotes
I played Reverend Parris in a community theater production of this play. It was SO much fun, and it was a dream come true for me. it really is a wonderful play.
Currenlty playing parris and wanting to kill myself.
who else is watching this because they're lazy to read the book
eberardo14 omg yesss me rn
eberardo14 the book is too boring to read
I'm here cuz I didn't pay attention to this boring ass book
its called actually being smart
Did any of y’all pass?
Had 3 weeks to read this play and im on my final day before the work is due and just finished it all before the deadline, bless the makes of this video
Ahh the classic binge watch of summary vids the day before major exams... good luck to everyone else here! - Aus 2021 HSC student
Shout out to those watching this and writing today xD
In the first few pages, Miller tells you it's a dramatization of the events at Salem. He had to mix lots of real characters into one too
I have a test over The Crucible tomorrow.
This video was really good review for me. Thank you so much.
The SparkNotes is the BEST!!!
Man Abigail secured the man and the bag
Thank you, helped me to review for my test tomorrow since I finished this as summer reading several weeks ago. :)
For anyone wondering, marginalised and empowered perspectives were explored in the text. The crucible in itself is an allegory for the McCarthyism that took place during 1950s America where those who were allegedly branded as "communist supporters" were killed as much like the girls in the witch hunt trials of Salem.
It is a masterpiece as it's socio-historical context can be linked to modern society with Muslims being called or claimed as terrorists and hence feared by the rest of society. The mass amounts of hysteria displayed in the film were all to reveal the dark corruption in political systems of America during Arthur Miller's lifetime.
Fun Fact: A crucible is a piece of lab equipment that can withstand extremely hot temperatures. In the film/play, it is used as a symbolic device as the embodiment of the heat of mass hysteria in Salem Massachusetts 1692.
It also means a severe trial, which is the one the play went with
Watching this in college. Reminds me a lot of memories from my high school English class 😭💀
This Helps ALOT , were reading the crucible right now in my english class this helped me understand it a WHOLE lot better.
think you for saving my life ...i actually love the play
I'm screwed for my paper
I love how most of these comments are from a really long time ago.
Lmao watching this the period before the test 😭
omg same and have to do an essay and instead of reading the whole play im watching the movie and this
just a quick addition, i do believe that it was stated that John Proctor did sign the confession, but then ripped it up as he didn't want it to ruin his name by being posted publicly.
I'm excited to perform this at my high school this fall! It's an amazing story!
how was it
whoever made this i love you! i have a test on this tomorrow and this helped alot!
Great job. I absolutely love this play.
To everyone that has a SAC/EXAM tomorrow good luck bois
I supposed to read the whole script for drama within a week, even though I have revision and alot more homework to do, so, this is my back up hehe

+Normal People Who Exist Cool
+Normal People Who Exist hello I found one of my kind
That is the reason why I'm watching this xD
LEAVE ME MY NAAAAAAAAAME
Tituba's name is pronounced TIH tuh bah, the first syllable is emphasized.
thats what he said
he literally said tih TOO bah. pisses me off.
Carlie Zucker I've heard it was pronounced like TI chu bah.
Not Carlie How do you know what is the proper way to pronounce? It's a book, not a movie. Idiot.
Jonathan Hillier buddy, tituba is a legit historical figure, watch a video about the background, it's tI chu bah
I gotta say, thank you so much this will be a huge help for tommorows midterm exam.
