Nope we just finished act one
😂😂 fr lmao
I just watched the movie today. I couldn’t even watch the ending
5:55 -Abigail smiles as she watches the innocent people she accused of being witches die.
Jch that Bastard!
I watched the video too!
*Notes* doesn't mention that the Abagail of the film made off with the savings of her uncle's family- neither does it mention that the first accused witch, the slave Tituba wasn't killed - why was that, I never understood that part of the history?
I auditioned for the part of Abigail’s side kick before I understood the plot😬
At first I thought the crucible is gonna be boring but it's actually very interesting to me
John Procter has the ultimate YOLO moment in YOLO history
I found my old Crucible book this morning and acted it to my fuckin' self. I love this shit! I once lost a tennis match so I ran away and climbed up a child's climbing frame, and hysterically shouted "BECAUSE IT IS MY NAME!"
Several kids ran away...
Come over and we can perform it together.
we did this play in class, it was an honor to be John Proctor
Chris Hunt rip you beautiful man
Invader Zim 😂😭 thank you sir, I'm a huge fan of your show
I played John proctor in my play
I played mercy because she had very few lines
I did this play when I was back in college. It was interesting. At one part, I jammed my elbow in a stunt, was in pain and I had to laugh and say the next line. Drama/theater arts was interesting but decided against it as a degree or major.
I remember reading the book (and watching the movie) back in high school (either in Junior or Senior year), dear lord... I remember one of my classmates crying when it got to the part where the people were being hanged...
I swear to god WatchMojo has been using my high school reading list to make these Top 10 notes videos.
I think WM missed one of the major themes. That the girls in Puritan colonial America had very little autonomy or power. Which is probably why they found the interactions with Tituba so thrilling. Then when they find that the whole town is paying attention to what they say, and, for the first time in their lives, their words and actions are having an influence on their community and the people around them, of course that power is going to go to their heads, and that's one of the reasons why the girls carry on with it for so long.
Wrong
I absolutely love the crucible and I can't wait because I just got CASTED in it as Abigail Williams!!
+Kylee Ann Nice! I'm hoping I will be cast as such at my school.

😂😂we got to watch the movie and i still slept
Your channel's tagline is ironic and not in a good way: "Why read when you can watch?" Here's why: so that at the very least, you get the details of the story correct. Out of 10 points, you got half of them wrong; that would be a FAIL in any high school English class:
The Crucible is not told by an "all-knowing third-person narrator." You do know that it's a play, right? That is acted upon a stage in a theater, by performers who have memorized the lines to recreate the characters who act the story. "All-knowing third-person narrator?". Did you bother to read it; have you ever seen a live performance of it in a theater?
John Proctor does not agree to be hanged in order to protect his wife. He chooses to be hanged rather than have his reputation ruined forever: "Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul, leave me my name!"
Proctor does not go to "any length" to expose Abigail. He hesitates and hesitates, argues with Elizabeth about it, browbeats Mary Warren to expose her so he won't have to do it; watches Giles Corey and Frances Nurse put their reputations on the line first; and even then will not admit his adultery until he's finally forced to say it as his only remaining chance. He avoids it until all his other options have run out. Thirteen women falsely arrested weren't enough, and then later, 39 arrests aren't enough to spur him to do anything more than "think about it." It was his delay and unwillingness to expose Abigail that allowed the witch-hunt to get out of hand so quickly.
Elizabeth does not help him keep his goodness by "allowing" him to be hanged. She says very plainly it is not her decision to make, it is his soul, not hers, but she wants him alive. But she hardly "allows" him to be hanged. She knows it is his conscience, not hers, that is at stake; she states what she would prefer and then she is devastated by his final decision.
The play's title might be a metaphor for an alchemist's kettle, but the word "crucible" itself refers to a severe and punishing test of a person's morals.
Abigail did not start the cries of witchcraft as a plot to marry John Proctor. She started it as a way to get herself and her cousin and her friends out of trouble, initially accusing Tituba as the cause of all the trouble. It's not until sometime later that she realizes she can turn the trials to her benefit. But her initial motivation was to cover her ass.
Seriously. Now I understand why this channel's tagline is what it is: Why read when you can just watch it? Ten points and half of them are wrong; in any high school English class that would be a FAIL. This channel is contributing to the dumbing-down of our youth. Why watch it, when you can have someone else tell you what it's about? Shameful.
.
I'm playing Abigail Williams in my school's production of The Crucible.
How did it go
My exams tomorrow! I heard that apparently Abigail became a prostitute when she ran away
Ugh I just got done performing in this play. I'm so sad and miss it already.
Me too! I miss it so much!
A. Hamiltrash me too I played John Proctor
We did the Crucible for One Act Play my sophomore year of high school. I loved every minute of it! We watched the movie to try to learn a little more about all of our characters!
Top Ten Mario Kart tracks.
I remember studying this in English class during my high school days, good times.:)
WatchMojo is my favorite RUclips channel. It even helps me with my homework.
Town of Salem the game anyone?
I remember this book in my sophomore year of high school, and the movie is so strong. I love it.
Curse you watchmojo! Your intriguing lists are always keeping me up at night!
Ah, I remember reading this in high school. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have read and performed this play in high school. An amazing story really.
Oh nice. We've been learning about the Salem witch trials the past few weeks and are going to watch the Crucible next week. Now I can spoil it for every one!
John did not sacrafice himself for his wifes sake. He was given the option to save him and others along with his wife if he gives a confession but due to his honnest nature he decides against it, dying but keeping his honnest nature.
Reading this in my english class, its pretty good
I love the book and movie so much. It's weird because I just watched it the other day with my mom and she got so emotional during the scene where the judges try to force John Proctor to give a written confession and John Proctor says "Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! ...... I have given you my soul; leave me my name!" Ugh, that scene always gets me. Daniel Day-Lewis is the best.
This movie made me cry
Burn baby burn
She's a witch, she's a witch and I'm a heretic
So, learn baby learn
She's a witch, she's a witch and I'm a heretic so, learn
UGH I LOVE THIS PLAY SO MUCH
I'm reading this in my English class right now! We just finished Act 2. It's so good! We all hate Abigail lol.
I _LOVE_ to hate Abbey Williams. She's awesome.
Abigail is low key relatable af
This would've came in handy 3 months ago when I had to do my report on this book (which I barely read).

One of the local LV high schools is hosting a showing of this in theater, hoping to go!
I remember reading this in the 9th grade. It was an interesting play.
Very intriguing.
I love this movie and is great that I to learn more about it😄
where was this two weeks ago?!
Thanks guys this helped alot!!!!!!!
On an unrelated note; it's pretty sad how some people in modern societies still act like the way the characters in The Crucible do. Miller's work still holds true to this day.
My favorite part is when John proctor got hit by a car for being a cheeky scrub
Looking back Watch Mojo you sound 👌👌
I like this book more than the hunger games books
Very interested, thanks for the video. :D
For anyone that needs to read this book for school, watch the 1996 movie with Daniel Day Lewis. It is excellent.
Watchmojo posted "Death of a Salesman" when my class was covering it and now this one too. Lol

We did this play and I played John Proctor
this is such a good story
As im reading this for class, good looks
i love the play and cant wait i just got casted as abigail williams although nervous i dont wanna mess up lol
There is a note that says that "If you are tired of the bed, try to make it sleeps on your back."
The Crucible is a brilliant play and I thought a very good movie with Winona Ryder's best performance ever.
I remembered reading The Crucible in school. I liked the movie with Daniel Day Lewis. It's stuff I remembered discussing in school. This video might help people who are reading it in school.
Wow I'm actually reading the play & watching parts of the movie in my English class
same we just finished it!
Could you please do Jane Eyre and Beowulf?
Weird! I watched a criminal minds episode today and there was something about a guy, killing women, thinking they were witches and i thought, what was that film i once watched, about witches, that was a good film: and 3 hours later i see this video! That was the Film i was looking for, it's magic!!! Thank you!
Please do the fault in our stars please :)

can someone please tell me a good literature website for analysis of this play? My english teacher has completely butchered it and I'm basically teaching myself at this point.
i have to play john proctor for my drama GCSEs.... i'm very glad i found this lol
I read this book back in High School.
Yeah I remembered back at High School in English class. Read the play too.
Best thing I read in high school
I haven't read it but is it safe to assume that in the story evil won?
Well this video would have very useful this time last year ready for my english lit gcse.....
I had to watch The Crucible for English class I have a test on it tomorrow to be honest I was interested in this but I still have one question was Tituba hanged as well?
Genevieve Venegas no, she confessed to it (although it wasn't true) so she won't hang.
Genevieve Venegas but she did practice and know voo-doo which can be (in some cases) considered witchcraft
My final project for Global Ethics is on the treatment of women in The Crucible, and the political undertones of the piece, as well as the sexual relationships between John and Abigail and John and Elizabeth. This was a huge help to my research!
Man, I wish my high school made us read this! But I have a feeling that schools just rush through it and don't really teach kids how to understand the story and etc
This is cool
I feel like the only one who actually understood Abigail. Apart from her Vendetta against Goody Proctor, I really felt that her actions were justified by the fact that she was terrified of the consequences of what would happen if it was discovered she was practising witchcraft. It was impossible to turn back and so she had no choice but to continue the charade. I'm not saying that Abigail's a saint but I found her character to be so much more deep that other people.
where's that thumbnail from?
I wish this video were made when i was in highschool reading this damn book.
Wow. In 3 and a half weeks I'm writing an essay on this in my Higher Grade English exam.
wish this came out six months ago when we had to read it in school
This just helped me with a Project, Thanks watchmojo.com
I wish I had this 4 months ago.
I have to study this for my drama GCSE's... fun
The only thing I remember from The Crucible (which I read last year) when Jon said he would rather cut off his hand before reaching for Abigail. BURN!
I was John Proctor in my Middle School play...
Did a whole report on the crucible for my 9th grade English class. I really enjoyed the film though.
Mojo you should do the origins of S.H.E.I.L.D.
i was proctor in this lol. this is probably my favorite play
this is a great movie.
I would argue that Judge Danforth is the true antagonist and Reverend Hale the Protagonist. Hale is the only person in the town who tries to save lives by getting people to confess. Danforth on the other hand kills 12 people mostly because he can’t not hang them because it would be unfair to those already hanged
Reverend Parris is hands-down the best character in the play/movie. He carries the whole performance and is GOD!
I'm in this and I was Putnam at my school production
That is a lie!
Oh cool, reading the play in school now haha
YAAAS IM DOING PROJECTS ON THIS BOOK IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!
