Got one of these, love it. Bought a 2nd battery to have on hand for swapping out when needed. FYI, if you use Amazon Alexa devices, it can use the doorbell press to initialize a routine, such as playing a doorbell sound or announce someone was at the door, from any Echo/device you have. Did this for a couple of the rooms upstairs.
Oh smart! I should try to do that also with the extra battery for zero down time. Thanks for sharing the tip about pairing it with Alexa devices too and thanks for watching : ) @pforest8908

@@harrisonRL Really depends on a bunch of factors like how often you're coming and going, how many people live there to come and go, the recording length you set, the motion detection range, etc., but for me, I was charging it every 3 to 5 months usually. And since the battery is located on the inside of the door, I would just pop the battery out, charge it and pop it back in pretty easily.
@@DemCrumblies Hi. Thanks for the quick response. The other thing I thought of afterwards was heat concerns. Our front door faces west south/west and gets direct sun and very hot during high-summer. The products specs rate this unit to 158 F. Your test location wouldn’t experience direct sun which is the next hurtle to tackle, in terms of real-world usage before buying. Thanks again!

what happens if the wifi goes down?
It will still record to local storage, then when WiFi is restored, you can access the locally stored clips.
And how long, with “real world usage, does the battery last before charging is required?
