Definitely one of the best install videos I've seen. Only thing I'd add is that you can buy a plug and play cable for the Immersion/IOSD for about $20. It patches the Tx to the IOSD and plugs into the CAN bus and also plugs into the port inside that provides power/video. I really like the idea of bringing the CAN bus inside and only having the Tx hanging outside. Leaves room to hang more stuff outside.
One of the best tutorials I've seen, and timely for me getting ready to purchase the iOSDmini and another 600mw tx. Only suggestion is to note putting on shrink tubing before soldering
Hi, I followed your instructions just tonight and have now installed an iOSD unit successfully onto my Phantom 2. Works just great. I was pretty nervous about powering it up afterward due to previous expensive 'pop, sizzle, sizzle' episodes with other quads but not this time!! Thanks for your valuable training video.
Thanks very much for the awesome and informative video. It is people like you that make the hobby of UAV flying and aerial videography so much more satisfying and fun for those of us who are not quite so technically minded. Thank you That HPI Guy
Exactly what I was looking for, got all the components to do this w/ my P2 but this saves me loads of time in having to research each step... and great job of showing/having everything in screen.
Thank You for the post. I am going to buy a Phantom2 and want to set it up like this. This helps me know what to buy. The only thing I am having a hard time finding in a monitor. Thanks for the post!!!
Hi, thanks for this installation guide which I followed to a T. it all worked well for me, I was away in Africa filming and got some really good stuff. On my return home I reassembled the Quad, I think the the immersion rc 600mw transmitter sparked up and blew. Its clear that it worked well for months and I only disassembled the gimbal landing gear and transmitter for easy transportation. Also before I started it up I made sure I had attached the transmitter with an antenna as you mentioned if fired up without an antenna it could result in a blown transmitter. I am going to have to buy a new one but what other possible reasons are there for an a transmitter to blow
Sat down and step by stepped off this great video today. Excellent relay of how-to info and the result is a working relay of flight info. First time around. Thanks Much!
Excellent video, Thank you for taking the time to make it concise and easy to follow. I wish there was a way to send video via wifi to smart phone like in the DJI Vision app. But apparently that can't be done with the H3-2D/ GoPro set up :(
that's because the vision operates on a 5.8 GHz frequency. 300 m range in europe and 500 in US. Because the frequency is that of Wifi. P2 with H3-2D 2.4Ghz frequency and 1000m range. It's Hobby grade.
Great vid, I take it the iOS mini HUD signal is only seen over the video on your fpv and not on the video recorded inside the gopro. To record the HUD with video I'd need to record the video direct from the av port on fatshark goggles
I'm about to do this install and I have a question regarding wiring to the GoPro. 8:13 doesn't show any wires going into the camera itself. I didn't see any reference to additional wiring installation which would connect the GoPro with the Video TX. Also, what is the black wire shielding placed on the video tx wiring referred to so I can find it online and purchase some for the installation process? Thank you very much for your response.
Richard do you plan on doing a video installing the DJI ipad ground station setup ? The best way to place the components and the easiest way to get the can bus cable from the data link on the phantom 2 body up into the iosd mini to plug it into the extra can bus port. I hate to have to use a can bus hub and place everything on the outside of the phantom 2. Thanks
Excellent video. I followed the instructions and installed mine; however the video quality I am getting is not as good; Colors seem to be washed out a bit. Any tips?
How did you secure the canvas (that was originally on the leg) inside the phantom? It's clear that the iOSD mini had double sided tape. So I was just curious about the canvas. Thank you! Great video!
Hi. Thanks very much for this video - it was invaluable to me in installing the IOSD Mini. My question is not related to the IOSD Mini, but is actually related to the gimbal movement at 8:05. My Phantom 2's H3-2D gimbal's pitch movement is impossible to operate smoothly. On your vid, you moved the lever and then the camera followed, but sloooowly..... nice! On my RC gimbal lever, the gimbal only moves when the RC gimbal lever is moving in the approx middle third of its range....I've done all the calibrating and I've tried the (completely ineffective) gimbal controls in the Phantom 2 Assistant Software. Is the problem I'm experiencing due to some pin/potentiometer problem is the RC? Any pointers at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. K
This looks tidy and you've done a good job of this but what do you think about the fact that the iosd mini produces heat while powered, and some have reported failure due to melting. The IC chip in the unit needs to stay cool. DJI reccommends that the unit be mounted externally where it can be cooled by prop wash. Have you experienced or heard of anyone experiencing issues with this modification?
Great vid. I previously setup the FatShark goggles to my Phantom 2 with iOSD mini hookups as well. As of recently, I have felt the need to switch to the Black Pearl screen. I'm trying to avoid resetting my whole setup so I can switch between goggles and screen, which would be convenient. My only concern is that the Black Pearl kit came with a bulky 5.8 VideoLink transmitter with different hookups than the 600Mw transmitter. It looks good, and even has a fan in it (I've noticed that my current 600Mw transmitter tends to get really warm when in use). But my question is: Can any transmitter, whether it be this VideoLink or the 600Mw immersion transmitter, be used for either mode of FPV? Thanks in advance for your help!
Richard can you please add a video showing a good way to add the 2.4ghz Ipad ground station. I need a way to get the can bus cable from the air data link unit that's mounted on the bottom of the phantom 2 up to the Iosd mini inside the Phantom 2 so I can plug it into the spare mini iosd can bus port. Thanks
I have a Phantom 2 + h33d gimbal + FPV already set up. And just got the iOSD mini. I was really glad to find your tutorial, but when I opened my phantom, I realized that my transmitter is different from yours. I have the Video Transmitter TX Lite Module, so my cables are totally different, and now I have no idea of what to do. Would you have any ideas, or a diagram that I can follow? Thanks in advance.
Great video! One quick question- Does the camera video feed to the video xmitter feed signal through the Gimbal cable? I usually see an external video out plug coming off the side of the GoPRO and feeding it over to the transmitter. Can you clarify? Thanks a lot! Again, great video!!
Hi! Nice video! I have 2 questions. 1: The monitor you are using, is it wireless or do you need to plug it in to a computer? 2: Do the video transmitter interfear in any way with the compass inside the landing gear?
Thank you for a very excellent video. I did the installation a couple of days ago and all worked fine. There is an issue which may not be related to the installation. I just got the Phantom2 and noticed before the gimbal and iosd installation that I would get Sat lock in less than a minute. Now It seems to take over 5 min and just now after 10 min or so never got above 6 sats. I disconnected the inmmerson Vtx power and shut off the GoPro but still no help. Have you had any feedback on this issue? Thanks, Tom
Excellent video! Will this technique and choice of leads work with the Flysight TX5812 transmitter? It looks very similar to the TX you're working with. Please keep up the good work, a great help to all of us!
Thank you for the great video! And thank you for doing it with Audio Dialogue!! Instructional videos with just subtitles and no dialogue seem to be a trend and are half as effective and draw your attention away from what is going on in the video..
Hey man! Great video. I have a phantom 1. Do you know how my set up is different? Like the CAN BUS for example? I've installed the upgrade board and the gimbal. I'd like to attach the mini iOSD and the DJI AVL58 transmitter. I'd also like to run power to my transmitter from the Phantom battery source. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Nice one Guy--thanks for the excellent tutorial. I see the iOSD mini runs on 6 volts, power in is 12volts via the lipo--so is there a bec within the circuit somewhere.? Cheers.
Hey bro... another great video. Well i got it and its all built. However i am having an issue with the booting of the P2 whenever the mini is connected. I even did it over with the dji hub. Seems not to be a common issue but a few have experienced it. Any advice would help. Firmware is also up to date .
Genial. Gracias por subir el tutorial. El mejor por lejos. los otros que encontre conectaban con cables comprados y no con los que vienen, dificultando todo. muy bueno. Gracias nuevamente.
Hi, i followed your video for installation. Looks neat. Only thing is that the iosd mini gets quite hot. Wonder if its ok to be placed inside? Quite some people had faulty iosd after several flights (not sure they were installed in or outside)
Great Vid! Thanks HPI Guy. I also thought the compass was located on the leg where the canbus connection was. Now I'm thinking it is located next to the GPS on the top part of the shell. Could you confirm this for me please. I don't want to remove the canbus from the leg and move it inside if it is going to cause any directional problems. I'll be installing the IOSD Mini and Immersion 600vTx in a couple of weeks (with lots of help from you!) Keep up the good video work and thanks from Canada Eh!
A couple more question. Are there any more simple monitors like this one out there? I found this particular monitor a bit pricey for me (although i only looked at one site). I have looked at some Boscam monitors, but I don't know if I need to buy any extra parts or anything like that to make them work. Do you have any suggestions on monitors that is as easy as this one, but in the lower price range?
Hi sir, I'm very interesting to the DJI. Can you tell me EXACTLY what I need to buy to build the same thing in your video. I am confuse about the FPV monitor and OSD Mini, Do I need to buy them both or what? there are many options in Amazon and I don't know which I need to buy. I am waiting for you reply! thank you!!
Thanks for the video. I just performed the operation and all is well but my lever on the remote control doesn't move my gimbel. The camera points straight down and moves a hair when I move the switch but that's it. I also have Sky Zone goggles that I can see the iOSD and the video, but they have tracking and the tracking doesn't move the gimbel either. Initially the gimbel got hot too, but that hasn't happen since I first powered up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for a great video, how can i do the same clean installation with the DJI Data ground station for ipad? i also looking to install FPV so now i will have an extra transmitter. it will be great if you have a video for that.
When you click on your link to purchase the iOSD they say you also need the Power Management Unit "Please note if this is intended for fitting into the DJI Phantom then a naza v2 pmu will be required" yet to don't show it. Do you need to have a PMU if installing on a Phantom?

You definatly make this look effortless. I presume you've got a ton of experience with this sort of thing to be so masterful.
Thanks very much for the awesome and informative video. It is people like you that make the hobby of UAV flying and aerial videography so much more satisfying and fun for those of us who are not quite so technically minded. Thank you That HPI Guy
Thank you, just getting my Phantom 2 together, got the GoPro today, just wasn't sure about setting up the FPV. I'll be following your procedure!
Exactly what I was looking for, got all the components to do this w/ my P2 but this saves me loads of time in having to research each step... and great job of showing/having everything in screen.
Thanks for this excellent video. Very easy and to the point instructions, perfect image quality and perfect audio.
Thank You for the post. I am going to buy a Phantom2 and want to set it up like this. This helps me know what to buy. The only thing I am having a hard time finding in a monitor. Thanks for the post!!!
Nice work! Thanks for using a good microphone to record the instructions. It's super clear and easy to understand.
thanks Henry, yeah I can't stand it when people voice over and it sounds like they have the Mic in their mouth haha.
Thanks! Followed this whilst i fitted all these parts, also fitted the H4-3D gamble with the anti interference board.
All works perfect.
Thanks again
Thanks for the help!! Works like a charm! Transmission issues? Try screwing your antenna in tighter!
Best video on youtube for this topic. Great voice and narration.
Thank you! using this detailed video i was able to connect both the iOSD & DJI 58AVL to my Ph2. Many thanks for the clean install tips.

Just wanna say thanks for the video. Successfully DIYed based on this.
Thanks for this video, perfect! Just waiting for my IOSD Mini, Transmitter and Black Pearl to arrive.
thanks mate, the couple of videos on p2 & fpv were extremely helpful!

Did you use 3m tape to hold down the CANBUS inside? Awesome tutorial. Made it a breeze to understand and install myself.
Awesome lesson, I have all of the items your referring to in video on there way. This is perfect for what I am getting in to.
Clear, concise and helpful. Thanks for this!
Hi! Nice video!
I have 2 questions.
1: The monitor you are using, is it wireless or do you need to plug it in to a computer?
2: Do the video transmitter interfear in any way with the compass inside the landing gear?
Please type philips which key you used to open the chip that is located on the landing gear in the video at the 1:00 unscrewed accelerating video
Nice video. Quick question. Can I fly without having a GoPro attached? Setup is same as yours except H3-3D. Thanks
Agreed amazing work and thanks for helping all us newbies out!
Thanks for the video. Really helped me understand the setup better.
Great video! If I install the iOSD on my Phantom v1.1.1 with upgrade board will it show battery voltage as a percentage?
Thanks for this! Doing it as soon as my TX arrives
Thank you for a very excellent video.

Great job. Very easy to see and follow. Thanks
This is where I go for this stuff!!
Excellent video, fantastic installation. Thanks a lot !
Great video! What is the diameter of the black wire shielding that you are using?
Excellent video! Will this technique and choice of leads work with the Flysight TX5812 transmitter? It looks very similar to the TX you're working with.
Please keep up the good work, a great help to all of us!
Nice Video but as others have asked, how do you get the GoPro video to be transmitted to the monitor...

ThatHPI GUY Thanks mate i followed this today to install my fpv and it was successful thanks again
Just did this - super clean set - up - ta man.
hi boddy how is it going, just to check on you if You can teach me please how to wire up the naza in this particular device. please
Nice work

Can the Zenmuse be used with a similar sized but none gopro camera? Great clear instructions.
Zenmuse h3-2d can only be used with go pros... sorry
Could the red and black (power and ground) from inside the phantom also be used to power a gimbal that's not Zenmuse?
thanks for a great work
i just want to know how does the transmitter connect to my go pro ?
and can i use a fatshark googels?
and can i do all this modefcation before setting up my compus ?
because my phantom its in the box ?
please unswear me i need a professional help
So I have a dx8 like the one i saw in your video do you have a video installing that as well ?
I read there is video out on gimbal. Where is because I do not see it. I want to plug the yellow video cable from gopro video to my transmitter hopefully without any soldering.
you are awesome best tutorial out there!!!!!!!!!!
I did this set up exactly and I am getting a signal from the IOSD mini but it isn't showing the GoPro 3+ footage. It is a gray screen underneath the IOSD mini footage. Am I missing an important piece?
I'm about to do this same set up but on my Phantom V1. Is this how to video pretty well the same for the Phantom V1?
Dialing in my Phantom, can you suggest the best set up to fly? Naza or Phantom mode? I can't seem to find info on this. Also, on the assistant software, the numbers, are they set to a default setting?
I'm about to set up a very cheap FPV setup using the Boscam 32Ch 5.8G 600mw 5km Wireless AV Transmitter TS832 Receiver RC832 set up along with the iOSD Mini. Will this install work the same way?
Great video, thanks for detailed instructions..
Thanks for the vid. What monitor are you using?
this is great. can't wait to get mine started soon!
KIND OF RECEIVER FOR FPV did you use. RP-SMA? THANKS
Hey I got one question:
Can i also install the black pear fpv and all the other things on a fc40?
Can you run the fat shark goggles or the monitor with this application using the iOS mini.Where are the cables from the gopro going to?.
ThatHPI GUY does the mini come with a monitor? If not which do you recomend
How far can you go and still have the FPV working well?

Invaluable Video - Thanks. Can you tell me what size shielding you used ? Thanks again :-)
