Can not thank you enough. I had two dewals hammer drills...haven't used them for 3 years and use makita hammer drill and rest of my tools are dewalt. THANKS TO YOU...just did what you showed...AND THEY BOTH WORK!!!
Gary... You gorgeous genius!!!! I've been neglecting taking my DCD771 apart for a little over a year now. I just watched your video, tried it and in two seconds it's working again. Thank you so much, you just saved me a hundred bucks on a new drill. Keep up the great work friend.
Thanks for help. The chuck on my dewalt DCD790 had become increasingly difficult to operate and finally I got a drill bit that would not come out. I used your method and the bit came out. I then sprayed WD40 and ran the chuck in and out multiple times. Drill works great now!
Thank you! My DeWalt chuck was so jammed. I felt like I was going to rip a pec straining to get my stuck bit out. Your method works like a charm. In fact, it felt too easy. Lol
@@garyseasydiy9572I am a complete idiot when it comes to tools, and I was totally ready to throw in the towel because I can't change a stupid drill bit. That is until I saw this video. A simple fix, and I can't thank you enough. I'm still an idiot, but slightly less of an idiot.
Thank you so much for your knowledge and video. I had the same problem with my Dewalt drill this week and after almost needing a skin graft for my hand I turned to research the possible problem and lucky I found your video. I did exactly how you demonstrated and it worked like charm…. THANK YOU!!!
THANK YOU ! I had given up and ordered a new chuck. Guess I'll keep that one for a spare. The old one works like new after following your instructions. Couldn't be happier. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊
I tried all other methods and this was the simplest one that worked on tapping the second tooth on the chuck. Thank you big time mate!!!!!! I was going to buy a new drill as I was pissed off 😂 Milwaukee’s are not cheap.
Thank you! I'm a single woman and definitely not mechanically inclined (more mechanically deficient and slightly afraid of power tools!) I tried your technique thinking I'd probably break my drill. It worked! Yay me! Yay you!
Thanks mate, you saved my drill from being scrapped. My drill is a Worx corded hammer drill rather than a DeWalt but it had the same issue and the same solution worked. I had tried a number of methods that I found on RUclips but nothing was working. I was just looking at buying a new drill when the algorithm pushed this video at me. So I got out my trusty Thor Hammer and one of my grandad's old automotive screwdrivers and five minutes later I was throwing the bit in my recycling tray and working the chuck backwards and forwards to make sure it wasn't damaged. If it does this to me again I might think about putting a better chuck on it but it looks like I am keeping the drill for a while longer.
I have 2 and I put my second on the shelf after having this issue and kind of forgot about it saw this when I was looking up another issue with my impact driver and tried this boom, back in service thank you
Thank you. I must admit, in the beginning I thought it couldn't be that easy, but as I was in search for a solution for that exact kind or problem, as I had a Robertson drive stuck in the Dewalt cordless drill chuck for three years now, I decided to give it a try. I don't know if I'd scared the hell out of the drill when I grabbed the hammer and swing it, but with the second hit, the drill was flying free. Thank you very much. You made my weekend and not because it's the only drill I have, I carry half a dozen of them because I keep forgetting where is the safe and secure place where I stored them, but for some rare reason I always end using this same drill with the Robertson drive... you know how the story goes, eh? Thank you very much and keep bringing on the tricks of the trade.
I wanted to thank you for this video. I have a 25 year old dewalt that the bit was stuck and I it would not be worth it. After seeing this I freed it up and flooded it with penetrating oil and ran it in and out forever while adding more fluid and wiping it all off and I have my gun back. I was not prepared to replace it just now so thank you.....
Ahh thank you very much Sir! Fix took about 5 mins with some WD-40 and some gentle persuasion with my claw hammer but it appears that all is now well. Thanks again!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !! I was not able to rls a drill bit using the “screwdriver” method, BUT by tapping lightly with a hammer, directly on the three teeth of the chuck worked like a champ.
Thank you for this video. I have a Stanley Fatmax battery drill that has been so good for several years. The chuck jammed, I watched other videos first and used WD40 and wrenches which proved useless. Watched you video and one gentle tap of the hammer on a screwdriver and problem sorted THANK YOU
Good one Gary! This worked on my cheapo Parkside (Lidl) drill which was still under warranty - I'm sure I would got a refund but I have several batteries so really needed😃 a replacement rather than a refund. Bottle wrench strap from the kitchen also helped. Win, win, thanks again Gary.
Awesome! This worked like a charm. Tried it 3 times between each prong and it loosened right up. Thanks so much for your short video on this issue and your great advice. I subscribed. Peace and God bless! 😊
Thank you! I'm a 65 yr old woman who has to do most things alone. I don't know if it actually helped or if it was just stuck too tight, but after hitting it all around, it didn't seem like it worked. So I turned it as hard as I could and after a few clicks it came free! Whew! Thought I was going to have to bring it to my son-in-law. It's a fairly new drill and after building a little chicken coop I felt empowered. Now I feel even more empowered haha.
STAY BLESSED. Your cure for the jammed chuck worked like magic. I had a sweaty time trying to figure out why the Chuck was jammed, maybe something was broken or got misaligned and repairs would have been a looong head ache. Thanks a ton for a very simple and effective solution to an otherwise complex looking problem. But the sad thing is that it happens to a DEWALT, which I bought thinking it would be quality assured and 100% trouble free upto a reasonable time of usage. We DO live in an imperfect world 😀.
This really does work. Thanks a million. I had my brushless dewalt drill sitting for weeks. I went as far as to pull it apart and greased the gears still it didn't budge. As soon as I tried this it came out. Still seems the chuck is slipping but its working. Great trick.
I put mine in a vice (lined with wood blocks and a damp rag) and it came loose. Examined the inside of the chuck closely and there were a bunch of metal shavings inside(!). Used compressed air to blow it all out, looks like the jaws now align properly.
I got my bit stuck installing a wall mount for my TV. I was bummed to find that I thought I burnt my drill stuck. Hit it with a hammer, good as new. Lmao. Broo. Thanks a bunch 😂😂

RUclips to the rescue, again!! Had this problem with a paddle bit and this gentleman provided just the right solution. Thank you kind sir.

Awesome. After two weeks of hand tools it’s nice to have a working drill back. Thank you.
Thank you for this video, was about to go buy a new drill, tried wrenches, a vice. Took 30 seconds to fix this issue. My drill lives again.
Thank you. This saved me from the anxiety of not being able to finish my project and also having to buy a new drill.
Genius. Iv been trying all sorts for days and in the end it took 2 seconds to fix with the simplest method.. Thank you!
Thanks! I have THREE DeWalt drills in the van with bits stuck in them and just fixed all three!!!! Legend!

Thanks dawg, work like a charm. 30 sec, we went like this, he went like that, where did he go, Hollywood’s dead.
