Often times you have to move in the direction the painting wants to go in order to create something beautiful. It's about letting the painting be, become what it can become. And eventually, when we become good, we can start using any wind to go in any direction. And remember, a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.

I think I'm in the minority, but blue actually irritates me sometimes if it doesn't make me full on depressed. I prefer purple or green for the calming effect, but red is my favorite color.

Anna you need skill. Have the eyes to be able to place the colors thinking of reflection and shadow to bring the painting to life. The hand work and craftsman is amazing too. I am not specialized in arts but I can sure recognize and enjoy beauty (what ever does this mean), and man, this is beautiful! Not just the colours, their layout, the peace in the scenery but also the technique. I don't know what specialists think but all those new way of expression, making beauty without all the time and effort that used to be given to is just an other layer of material to enjoy (purists don't agree I know, for me I just enjoy beauty and technique, classic or modern).
