Thank you for your testing and explanations with visual examples. I finally understand why digital stabilization is not viable in low light. Would have liked to see the 1 inch image in low light too for comparison. I really hope the 1 inch 360 is updated with better naming and build. 1 inch and 8k should be the minimum for 360. The x3 is so fun but in anything except bright sunlight the footage degrades rapidly
This is the first time I try this RUclips Premiere feature (and not breaking any NDA!) It will be midnight when this video is published, but I will stay around a bit if anyone want to chat about this 360 camrea! :)
Wow, that's a great in-depth review! I really like the low-light performance but there's one issue stopping me from purchasing this cam. The video appears over sharpened and I wish there was an option to control the amount of sharpening and the ability to just turn it off so I can control sharpening in post. Thank you!
I don't have one yet but I like the idea of a single lens mode. Some people are saying GoPro might release a Max2 this year so I will hang fire on getting a 360 camera for now.@@TheRealRichardWong
Hi, sorry but i feel that this review is more an introduction and promotion for Qoocam3. I mis a single lens , 8k and better microfoon . I am searching for a combination 360 and Action camera .All the review about Insta 360 X3 is excellent......I think I prefer Insta 360 X3.
@@harrymongula the insta360 X3 and one inch that I compared with both can't do 8k. Re Single lens mode, I have almost never use it myself with my X3, but if you do then the insta360 would be better. The Qoocam3 is not perfect, I think it need some updates in the firmware and software and I pointed out it's shortcomings in the review. But I can also tell you now after I done with the review, I have not used my X3 even once as the image quality from the Qoocam3 is just much better than the x3 especially under low light
@@TheRealRichardWong Under these circumstances (lowlight) I agree with you .....however I need an action-360 camera always on daylight. For dark/night I have a better camera. Thans for your reaction !
Great review (I do own QooCam 3, QooCam 8K, Insta360 1-inch, [and more]) so I would like to make a minor correction. The Insta360 One RS 1-inch does NOT take as many steps to remove the SD card as you displayed at 07:15. The display module Will easily slide out the top of the "outer shell" by simply putting your thumbnail between the battery module and the display module. It is that simple. No need to remove the outer shell the way you show. It is still more steps than the other cameras, but I just use a 512gb SD so I can work a full day with it in and then pull it back at the lab at end of the day. For the record, I have no complaints about this, if this is what it takes to maximize the camera. I love my QooCams, but I have a bigger complaint about the QooCam 8K NOT having a removable battery vs the Insta360 1-inch SD card position. But almost all camera problems have a work around (e.g. external battery for QooCam 8K, custom lens cover for QooCam 3, etc.)
oh thanks for the correction! I thik Kandao has learnt a few things from the QooCam8k. There are definitely quite a lot of room for improvements but i really like what they have done with the Qoocam3 so far
In your video samples (hotel room), your laptop screen is blown out by the Qoocam, but preserved by both Insta360 cameras. It looks, though, that perhaps this is simply due to a different image on the laptop screen?
yes correct. i think i used my computer briefly for something in between the shots, sorry about that. But yes better look at the ceiling or other lights in the room for dynamic range comparison
Qoocam 3 camera failed me on paid gig. Tested it on family trip and it was fine. Took it to use for client video and one of the lenses is recording in dutch angle and can't be stiched together at all in mobile app and studio. Due to ~-20 roll artifacts in other software made this footage unusable. Literally after 3 days of shooting it is broken already.
@@TheRealRichardWong Facebook users with the same issue were faster. Basically you can twist the lens with sensor inside when you are taking off the lens cover. I was able to strighten it so now stiching looks fine but I guess this design flaw will kill the camera when you twist the sensor connectors or simply fail you on photoshoot like in my case. Waste of money compared to insta 360.
I have to say i have not twisted the camera myself after using it for a few months. But thanks for the info it's good to know at least i know what to do if i got the same issue.
@@TheRealRichardWong waiting for replacement, maybe some units had the glass that wasn't 100 fit% and you still could screw it a little with sensor attached to it. I heard that new version will come without rubber caps but with a protective case, will see. Basically without rubber caps twisting the lens did nothing but with them it worked - maybe they act a little like suction cup or friction rolls the lens. Nevertheless, small stress, replacement on the way and support proposed to stich the videos for me so actually good support experience and I will give them another chance.
Yes true! And it's possible when removing the rubber caps, we could rotate the lens module as the rubber caps fit quite tight onto the lens! A protective case would be cool as I don't like those separate lens caps (as I've also mentioned in this review). Glad to hear you received good support experience. Good luck with your replacement unit!
When recording longer videos, are there gaps between the 5 minute clips (like with Insta360 cameras) or are the clips completely gapless with no time lost between them (like with GoPro cameras)? Thanks.
I will consider buying a 360 camera after 2027 or even later. I think only then this technology will either mature, or the existing competition will make companies start giving us good video quality and not cripple their cameras by deliberately giving us +5-10% increments on every new release. They just gotta keep those high profit margins!! Right now I won't be paying more the 50$ for any or each 360 consumer camera as the quality is like from the first SJCAM 4000 back in the days. Lot's of oversharpened mushy video and blue fringing everywhere.
to be fair, the R&D cost is actually really high for camera gear like this 360 camera. Kandao's R&D team is pretty large and there are also lots of other staff required to run the company. So the profit margin is actually not that high once you consider the development cost and relatively small market it is.
