  • Some Crystal/Bull Mountain stuff from last week and an attempt at an East Peak splitboard tour near Big White. I taco'ed a rail at Bull and messed my ribs up pretty bad so I wasn't in great physical shape during the tour, and it's been a slow week. Going up today (Wednesday) and gonna try to get as much footage as possible. This was with Lucas, a friend of the channel, and we ended up taking a really long skin line in, breaking trail the whole time, and we were pretty tired by the time we dropped in, so it's probably not the most visually satisfying riding we could produce. Hope you get that.
For the record, we're both backcountry trained and had the adequate safety gear and planning. We just got caught in a silly spot trying to get a better idea of the snowpack. This is NOT how I'd recommend you do your first backcountry trip, and I'd heavily emphasize the fact that everyone who rides backcountry, even Travis Rice, uses a beacon and takes avalanche safety courses. Don't go out in the b/c if you don't have an Av Safety Course under your belt, and don't go out there with people who don't have it. Companion rescue is a HUGE safety concern and you can NOT wing it, no matter how good of a boarder you are. If you can afford a $1000 splitboard and skins/poles, you can afford a beacon/probe/shovel/AST course.
