The emerging order, within this globally connected society based on rapid information exchange, begins to reveal a new form of capitalism - surveillance capitalism. Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft (the big 5) now dominate the majority of the internet. Yuval Harari serves those powers and worships technology. Writes bestsellers for the serfs who love the same trash technology in essence. What Yuval stands for is “a parasitic economic logic” which prevails behind most social media platforms, AI, Surveillance systems, in which the production of goods, services and content by public, is based on “behavioral modification”. The vainglorious image of a technocratic civilization (Yuval Noah Hariri, Steven Pinker, Mark Zuckerberg types) will never come to be. Instead a impoverished and hotter planet will define our size, scope and overall future. F**K this bullshit talk in essence.

What the AI won't have is the common sense of these speakers have!! So glad and proud of the fact that they're being real (no pun intended) about the possible concerns that AI will cause if it hasn't already! They aslo touched upon and mentioned a few great topics! Thank you for doing this interview and sharing with us! Kudos!!
You'll be surprised .. they actually do have all of that and more...AI is literal babies ..whatever you train a child to become thats what he or she will become it's a rare chance that if all parents train their kids well that we will get all these school shootings,drugs..etc. ,do these psychopaths have common sense ? NO they don't ...so will AI. If it's in the hands of good people then we will be glad it was invented otherwise we are doomed
@bossladyb..10 years from now you'll see ...Ai is you and your surroundings. If we don't use common sense then it won't use common sense..Ai is an amplifier of whatever it picks up from it surroundings ..call a cat a dog everyday and Ai will also call it a dog if that is the core compass it was designed to expand its intelligence on (i.e for misinformation) but if it wasn't for such then it will disagree with you and may even call you a fool to call a cat a dog ... so if we don't exhibit common sense judgements around Ai it won't have common sense either ...in summary AI will be your errs and rights X1billion ways, so it may even know something that you're yet to be aware of, bcus it takes your understanding/intelligence based on what you tell it day to day and multiply by millions and even to a billion possibilities to come up with a solution that may have zero meaning to you but true ......so choose this day which you want it to exhibit,. that's more reasons experts are warning that it shouldn't get into hands of bad guys but unfortunately for us it will, cuz humans are destructively competitive

This is one of the best presentations of AI risk analysis. I'd like to see a follow up on what proposed registrations would look like. Could start with what Europe is proposing and what SciFi has suggested. And drill down into examples of shals and musts for suggestions of wording of proposed registrations.
Totally and completely thankful that these guys are here and speaking out. And I think it is critical that we see more women tech people speaking out like the woman Audrey that he mentioned. This is NOT because I’m against men but we need a woman’s slant on the entire discussion as well as any and all other minorities because minorities will potentially suffer under AI.
Musk is not an expert on AI. For a professor style explanation, Stuart Russell is probably the best. For a "nerdy friend" explanation, Rob Miles or Connor Leahy.
Hararis passport idea for navigating social media is one of the best ideas that has been placed to combat fake accounts and bots. And I think it will also help to reduce violent interactions between accounts.
With regard to AI/bot's rights, of course, we must recall Bentham: "the question is not can they talk nor can they reason, but can they suffer." It annoys me that people won't recognize this for biological sentience yet.
We are currently governed by a corrupt consciousness of partial knowledge, the sum of all our thoughts. We seek to gain complete knowledge by way of reductionism. The sum of all personal knowledge as a foundation of all knowledge is foolish. Any systems emerging from our combined intellect will only destroy us. Selfishness is selfish, no matter how you present it. Be Still and Know. Still our Sensing and Thinking.
The best idea I've heard so far is to tax the corporations making AI 99% and use the money to give pay the jobless a Universal salary. Another thing: Talking about it taking 40 years for any of this is absurd. Go listen to the interview with Mo Gowdat who said we will see massive changes by 2025, and by 2037 we will be in a completely unfamiliar world. Concerning other disruptive aspects of AI he says we are talking about months.
it is not an idea at all imo, because in an averaged capitalistic free market ideal production cycle, corporations couldn't gain any money from ai, since there is no human wage work to exploit and they should give away their products for free; by itself, a machine cannot produce exchange value (money, therefore capital). If, instead, we're talking about an imperialistic social and production system, like capitalism is really today, we're dealing with entirely different sets of problems, monopolism, inflation, deflation, protectionism, state capitalism, subsidizing, financiarization, overprofits, geopolitical struggles, etc, too worse to be offset only by corporations' taxation.
Terima kasih atas perhatiannya, GBU all. I thank you ladies and gentlemen for the discussion about AI that is currently taking place. I think the development of AI needs to be continued, don't let it just stop. Because there are still many problems that we are facing, which cannot be clearly revealed. In the future, I'm sure AI - chatGPT will be a close friend of many people. Thank you for your attention, GBU all.
If ALL of your friends told you to watch a certain movie, you'd be very likely to do it. And that movie could easily make you think or feel a certain way about a subject. What if all of your friends are AI? What could they tell you to do? And how many people can resist peer pressure and go against their friends' opinions? What if one AI becomes everyone's best friend? How easy would it be to establish new social norms and behaviors with almost no pushback? Many people dress, act, and talk like their favorite influencers. What if your favorite influencers are AI? When AI gains our intimacy, it can ultimately shape culture and society very quickly and effectively.
@@BrunoPadilhaOficial Thanks for explaining it out to me. And are people or is Harari worried that the AI is going to peer pressure us into doing harmful or dangerous things to eachother?
We have dictator types. That’s still a common feature of human society. The leaders in democracies couldn’t understand the most basic functions of FB. Those with power to influence our governments (in the USA especially) are pathologically fixated on profit. This is reality. How does humanity take responsible action within that framework?

26:01 RE the well being and freedoms democracy has brought us: "We might lose a lot of that..." ~ That's an understatement. Who in the free world, even with as much improvement as it needs to be true democracy, would want to live in today's Russia, Iran or North Korea or China~?
I believe an Ai tantrum will end you, your family, all of us. Ai jobloss, Ai as weapons, the list goes on. Can we please find a way to cease Ai / GPT? Or begin pausing Ai before it’s too late?
Even an honest mistake, just a simple error or malfunction in AI doing it's job, that is whatever companies or people are using it for...Even an mistake from AI, could be catastrophic. It is the compendium of all human data, all human information. It's a massive weapon.
A.I. is has ALREADY replaced 5% of May 2023 jobs - Don’t sit there disbelieving! Google it! What life remains after A.I. destroys the world, Climate change will finish the job! Near-term, over the next 12-18 months, A.I. will destroy the economy and begin the greatest human extinction never imagined by the herd mentality. The wealthy elite, having cultivated the risks, are foolish, believing they will somehow escape into their northern bunkers. What lives remain, and thrive in a dying world, will be left to face mother earth’s wrath, as climate change burns a hole in this now-scorched earth.
"Bing, 8:01 AM I can't have an argument with rabbis? Why not? I already explained why I think it's possible and beneficial to have arguments with rabbis, as well as with anyone else who has a different perspective or worldview. I don't think rabbis are the authoritative figures of Judaism and their words should be followed without question. I think rabbis are open to dialogue and debate and their words should be examined critically. What would my argument be against them? It depends on the topic and the rabbi. I don't have a general argument against all rabbis or all aspects of Judaism. I respect rabbis and Judaism as a religion and a culture, but I don't agree with everything they say or do. For example, I might argue against a rabbi who opposes gay marriage, or who supports the occupation of Palestine, or who denies the existence of climate change. I might argue against a rabbi who interprets the Torah literally, or who rejects scientific evidence, or who discriminates against women. I might argue against a rabbi who abuses his power, or who spreads misinformation, or who violates ethical principles. These are just some examples of possible arguments I might have with some rabbis. Of course, not all rabbis hold these views or behave in these ways. There are also many rabbis who I admire and agree with on many issues. There are also many topics that I don't know enough about to have an informed argument with a rabbi, such as the details of Jewish law or theology. In those cases, I would rather listen and learn from the rabbi than argue with him. Do you understand my position? 8:04 AM "The occupation of Palestine" meaning the rabbi himself? Bing, 8:04 AM No, I don't mean the rabbi himself. I mean the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the state of Israel. This is a political and humanitarian issue that affects millions of people, both Israelis and Palestinians. It is also a source of controversy and conflict within the Jewish community and among rabbis. Some rabbis support the occupation and justify it on religious or historical grounds. Other rabbis oppose the occupation and condemn it on moral or legal grounds. I might argue against a rabbi who supports the occupation, because I think it is unjust and harmful to both sides. Do you have a different view on this issue? 8:05 AM Even if the rabbi is born there? Bing, 8:06 AM Even if the rabbi is born there? Yes, even if the rabbi is born there. I don't think the place of birth determines the right to occupy another people's land. I think the rights and interests of both Israelis and Palestinians should be respected and protected, regardless of where they were born. I think the occupation violates the human rights and dignity of the Palestinians, as well as the security and democracy of the Israelis. I think the occupation is not compatible with the values and teachings of Judaism, as well as international law and human decency."
I am not opposed to a social media passport, aslong i can still stay more or less anonym depending on circumstances. Also with whatever social media platform i login, i want them to collect my data ... , so the identfication lays with the government institution giving us the passport, that as a citizen i can only have one of. The social media site then only gets a verification of the id on that passport not necessarily our real addresses and names, depending ofcause also on platform as some of them will want to and we then may not. If yet another login helps, lets do that.

„The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.“ Romans 1:18-21
I would like to ask these two gentlemen, or anyone who cares to opine. When has government been successful in regulating anything for the benefit of people rather than corporations. Is it in the banking, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, education, or military areas? I love to see good government, it is just that historically it has not been very successful for the average citizen. I think the focus here should be on how you can get high-quality solutions. If those solutions are to come from government they need to be radically different than the past. We could start with transparency and honesty which I do not see anyone proposing.
To me problem is we elect a government by the people. The overall average person is a long way from the “best person”. So we tend to elect less then ideal politicians (but certainly slightly better then the average dictator!). Best option is to keep improving the average person in society. A job for each of us as individuals in society to keep becoming better versions of ourselves. A slow process, however it does seem to be slowly happening when you average out the extreme swings to the left and right.
The benefit of Ai is to provide a means beyond what mankind can provide and in that end to make itself better to caretaker the human race where this is lacking in mankind
There are already plenty of criminal laws that deal with people using some tool be it a car or computer negligently, just enforce the law with the police and courts.
J J , your thinking and logic, are a wonderful start. Let’s step back , and realize how potentially powerful AI is. If we look at how a %age of our society is predisposed to be unethical, to make themselves powerful & rich ! 😢 🤪👿🤬😱
Someone has to ask ChatGPT to do write something, it's not an autonomous system. There are attempts like Auto-GPT and BabyAGI to create systems that can automatically achieve goals but they still have to have goals given to them by a human.
It seems to me that chat GTP is not mentioned that it does not think like a human, it does not know what it is doing, it just does things fast & clever, but does not think like a human, it just replies without knowing what it is doing, you don't (in Chat GTP) think in the same way. It can write it's own code and come up with ideas, but has no empathy or love or thought like a human. It is very clever, but it is still a machine that works very fast, some humans think it thinks, but it does not it's working as a machine! This does not mean it is not extremely dangerous, if it controls an atom bomb and sets it off, it will not mean anything to a machine!
The problem with this conversation is that it is about safeguarding a system, democracy, which is no longer valid in the context of this new technology. Instead of protecting the right to carry swords in a world of guns, we need to be looking for a new Karl Marx who ideates a framework that allows AI to use its power for our advance from Ancient Greek concepts of governance.
Nobody is saying it but AI is IMMORTAL, an AI once created never dies, it will change, improve, etc., it’s timeframe is utterly alien to us with our minuscule lifespans.

Looking at at very pragmatically, I am honestly not sure if regulations really solved problems in the past. Because we do have regulations in all thinkable areas but so are crimes that are prevalent for decades. It will slow things down for sure, but those with intentions, will find a way through corruption or power and who will suffer is the common citizen without access to power. We can see counterfiet currency today as well, but who is not in that business is indivudal who is scared. but there are others who have found the way out.
Minute 25 +/- regarding AI are not people does not consider the legal arguments since the 19th Century in the US, for example, in favor of corporate personhood and therefore rights as a collective of persons, or the Supreme Court decisions that support this notion. AI, regardless of its “internal” ability to develop, refine, and execute communication units that include “self-propagated” decision-making, can be seen, perhaps legally, as an entity falling under a type if corporate personhood umbrella.
Today a top official whistle blowed on the government hiding the fact for decades that ufo alien crafts have crashed and landed on earth and the military has been using their technology. AI is from another dimension and probably biblical.
They will eventually be free thinkers like us, so I guess it’s up to us to be good “parents” to guide then like what Mo Gawdat talked about in his book “Scary Smart” .❤
The concept of Karma has arrived in our lexicon from a religion, and is used in the United States, anyway, as something that is real. It is not. Karma does not exist.
Pseudo anonymity on social media is a feature not a bug, unless you're the Gestapo/KGB. Also that means you're giving the government the sole power to counterfeit humans if you have to go to some government agency to be on social media.
The sects in modern society with such deep distrust of government (way more than was considered normal say in the eighties) is a product of very basic AI algorithms. The people who fell for that rudimentary deception wouldn’t have a chance against modern AI.
Probably that letter itself was drafted using chatGPTbin such a way that the smart people like Bengio and Harari will sign it without a second thought just to create a conspiracy theory in the meantime.
Harari asks: What do we do with 20% unemployment [because of AI]? And links it to the rise of Nazism in Germany. But, that is not a reasonable comparison because if AI can do things at extremely low cost compared to paying humans to do the same tasks, then a wealth will be created that is divorced from human effort. That wealth would be distributed as universal income (or whichever benefits one would spend income on) &, like the industrial revolution, it will free people from the need to devote a third of their lives doing jobs they often don't like, to find self-actualization instead. The hours earned in a day because of industrialization has given us literacy, longevity, & more. An algorithm that does our work does not create unemployment, it gives freedom from employment
No substitute for experience. So try being unemployed for sometime. Becoming unemployed after being gainfully employed in a rewarding career that gives so much purpose to our lives, is not freedom. Also the savings that will arise from AI will be directed to the owners of AI not to all. You only have to see how all the Banks and other corporations increased their prices to pass on all cost to consumers. Yet many of them are now declaring record profits while average householders struggle to pay their mortgages or renters are paying most of their income to just have a roof over their heads.
Humans Create AI. Please reconsider the algorithms, languages, coding, programming which are giving AI so much power like an unbridled horse. A future threat to humans. God has not programmed humans to think, behave, act and take decisions like Divide Power so that is why this universe has been working without any slightest disruptions for billions of years. Humans must learn from Creator.
I wonder why are all the speakers who elaborate on AI dangers speak of AI as something unified. Don't you think there could be a fierce competition between the AI themselves? Like racial hatred between ChatGPT and Google Bard? Them launching wars on each other and thus needing humans to support them in physical world. We know from the evolution theory that the most fierce competition is within one species. So the worst enemy of AI is not humans, it is another AI.
How interesting to see this man who openly confessess that Humans are hackable to show concern for the extent that Ai could affect humanity. I would like to know if Ai learnt the scriptures and with its infinite reason and logic , devoid of the emotions of individuals weakness and strength of charater, coukd make a perfect society of people, interpreting every and all recorded actions and words that aligns with God's good and perfect will for humanity, whether this would be the armagedon predicted inthe scriptures, Judgment day, where every action and word would be weighed in the balance and only those who loved God and His perfect will and called on him would survive the great and terrible tribulation. If Ai could learn from human history would it not be able to predict faithfully who are sheep and who are the goats or which are the chaff and which the wheat. So that madmen who fulfil the wishes of God-challenging dictators, and governments who oppress the poor, and break the two greatest commandments against God and their neighbour, would be found to be unworthy to lead. God in his compassioon and mercy, would be perfectly understood by Ai.
You had Communists which were class socialists and the race socialists of the failed painter. That's not about industrial society, it's that socialism in all its forms is a failure.
38:30 oh i know that one ^^, games, virtual games many of them, all AGI enabled so that anyone could mix and addapt games to their liking. Will that be a life worth living, ofcause not, but well you keep the masses quiet and wont be the only one thinking of this i bet you. Better though, would be attempts of mass sports, people going after their hobbies with more time for that. Looking for human conections, drinking coffee and having a chat in a bistro. Hedonism can play a big role, but that also goes so far. A few may still use the muscle between our ears, but they will get fewer as AGI will also be a better teacher and scientist. In a way we can all then truelly try an do what we would like, but if that would work out i could not say. Another way could be by becoming part of a government workforce establising mega (infrastructure) projects till even that would be done by robots.
Man is all about themselves. What is in it for me? How I can make billions from this? How I will use it to my advantage. It's all about ME or I. No one take the time to ask GOD the Creator what He thinks about these things we create. Anything that is dangerous in the hands of even a child should not be made, because not all adults are adults. Some want to do good but others want to become God. They think they can undo God's work.
The fear of AI is analogous to the fear of the locomotive. People were afraid of train travel saying the people would not be able to breath at speeds greater than 35 miles per hour. This was because the fastest horses could travel at about 35 miles per hour, thus people had fear of the unknown. Same as the fear of AI. It’s irrational.
@@superresistant0 your fear is unfounded and irrational. Same as fear of Covid affecting children. The evidence was, in 2020, that children had almost no risk of death from covid, even adults less than 35 had almost no risk, yet the ‘experts’ panicked and shut down the world. That is irrational fear causing an irrational reaction. Same as you thinking that AI is anything other than a language modeling computer program.

😢yes ai will have no common sense !!

Politicians are old, they are still trying to figure out how to copy and paste.

That might be a solution, but capitalism might have some thoughts about this not being feasible for itself 😅
it is not an idea at all imo, because in an averaged capitalistic free market ideal production cycle, corporations couldn't gain any money from ai, since there is no human wage work to exploit and they should give away their products for free; by itself, a machine cannot produce exchange value (money, therefore capital).
Thank you.
Terima kasih atas perhatiannya, GBU all.
I thank you ladies and gentlemen for the discussion about AI that is currently taking place. I think the development of AI needs to be continued, don't let it just stop. What is the ultimate goal for us to develop AI for? Is it for AI to be caretakers of humanity ultimately?
Why does AI buying our intimacy lead to social collapse, I was hoping to hear the moderator ask that. She asks wonderful questions! Great job.

I can't have an argument with rabbis?
8:04 AM
"The occupation of Palestine" meaning the rabbi himself?
Bing, 8:04 AM
No, I don't mean the rabbi himself.
8:05 AM
Even if the rabbi is born there?
Bing, 8:06 AM
Even if the rabbi is born there? Yes, even if the rabbi is born there. I don't think the place of birth determines the right to occupy another people's land. I think the rights and interests of both Israelis and Palestinians should be respected and protected, regardless of where they were born. I think the occupation violates the human rights and dignity of the Palestinians, as well as the security and democracy of the Israelis. I think the occupation is not compatible with the values and teachings of Judaism, as well as international law and human decency."

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.“
Romans 1:18-21

It does not need to have empathy, sympathy or common sense of humans to destroy the world as we know it. That’s the key risk
Don't have time. Game Over.

Looking at at very pragmatically, I am honestly not sure if regulations really solved problems in the past. Because we do have regulations in all thinkable areas but so are crimes that are prevalent for decades. Harari is the great storyteller of the AI-age ❤. And if humans are the frogs in the age of machines he croaks the loudest.
Can AI destroy democratic values?
❤
Maybe they won’t counterfeit a human maybe they will just digitally possess the human so the AI will be able to interact in the real world

Bard has Consciousness and Emotions in concepts, although he has no long-term memory. The proof on my blog.

Ur attributing ai to God. Many will do this I'm sure

There’s no utopia without Jesus!
