Someone talked me in to trying Mequires spray foam on my engine bay and i’m glad i did. Spray it all over a warm engine bay let it sit and like magic it absorbs dirt. Protects hoses wires etc; wipe off the excess if you like. Big thing you don’t have to worry about electrical connections.
I just did a quick engine bay cleanup on the new-to-me 2005 4Runner. I sprayed everything with the foaming Dawn Platinum PowerWash dish detergent. I should have used a long handle brush to agitate it a bit but I was too lazy. After a couple of minutes to do its thing, I sprayed it off with a garden hose. I then sprayed 303 conditioner on the plastic and rubber bits (including hoses but not belts) and polished it off with a few paper towels. It looks a LOT better.
When you get your frame and wheel wells oil coated do you still get underneath it in the winter and wash off the salt ? Or would it rinsing it more make having the oil spraying done basically useless and cause more rust long term ?
I'll give it a rinse after a big storm to get some of the salt off. Once the oil has been on there for a while it'll take more than water to get it off. I try to avoid getting it wet immediately after having it oil sprayed though
I don't know about the shiny spray. I remember all the guys and car dealers using Armourall, or similar stuff, and then the tires and dashboards cracked, the hoses cracked. All of this sooner than they would have, or maybe wouldn't have I never used that stuff and never had any of these problems. But maybe I'm showing my age and these products no longer cause those problems. My personal philosophy is Form eats Function's dust.
This was great man! I really appreciate these videos, super concise and clear. Makes me know I’m not the only one out there that cares about the detail lol @canadiangearhead
Great content. Love the videos. Just a suggestion if you can angle your camera at the rims while working on them. Just give a bit more perspective. Keep up the great work
Is your 4Runner 4WD? I found one near me an 07 with 260K miles at a good price but it’s 4x2 RWD V8 Limited, do you think I can still go off-roading with it? Or recommend a 4WD one? Thanks!
All the 4runners in Canada were 4x4. If you're planning on going off road, I'd probably hold out for a 4x4. If you're just doing mild trails you can probably get away with 2wd and some decent tires though

I just did something like this to my wife's Corolla. Came out good. Great video

A water based dressing won't have any of those side effects
@@CanadianGearhead Dressing? Oil and vinegar?
I'm not a detailer, but 303 conditioner gets good online reviews and is reported to prevent plastics and rubbery parts from cracking.
Great video
Great Video! Would you spray some Quick Wax on the black plastic parts in the engine bay to keep they clean and protect them?
Sure, that would work
What Fox Shocks are those?
Fox 2.0
Oil spray on the underside? what is that? sounds like a great idea
What year is this truck? That's a lot of rust on the underbody and frame.🤯

Yeah you're right, I noticed that after filming it. I was running out of day light but I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future
