I fell in love with Jacques Loussier's music in the 60's when I was just a kid. It opened up an enormous world of music to me because it shifted my perception of what music could be and is. I had no words to describe, and I still don't but I know it. And I am still in love with it. And the many concerts I have attended over those years have always been joyous and illuminating occasions. I could watch and listen for hours.... No other music gives me this feeling...it's always like coming home. Inestimable hours of pleasure and joy. Inestimable thanks and deep appreciation of an extraordinary man … how can such a light ever really go out? Thank you Jacques.
For me it happened as a teenager in the late 90's. My walkman's batteries didn't have enough power left to play a tape, so radio it was. Just browsing through stations, I heard Toccata and fugue... like never before. I was close enough to get back home before the piece was over, so I could listen to it with the big speakers. Good thing the internet was already a thing... so bach+tocatta and fugue+jazz. Of course it led me directly to Loussier. "You must be looking for this", said Altavista. It took me a few weeks, but I remembered I had seen before his Bach CD from the label Telarc at the music section of a bookstore. The black & white portrait cover. And no shit, the CD sounds amazing. It is a very good recording. Since then, I've listened to most of his stuff. Over and over again. Got tired of it, forgot about it, rediscovered it, got hooked again. Got people hooked on it with some "hey, listen to this..." over the past couple of decades.
First heard JL on the TV advert for Hamlet Cigars playing Air on a G String back in the mid 60’s and was mesmerised. A real Bach specialist, but I loved his later work playing Satie, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Debussy etc in his superb Jazz feel.
The best of all jazz to my tastes... superlative piano skills with the jazz faintly keeping the essential melody just tentatively within reach to allow a tonal resolution in final'. This also moves away from his undoubtably excellent Bach and Handel material, for a refreshing change of moods. Sublime and wonderful, he is greatly missed.
Loussier for ever !!! Thanks

I got that disease in the 70’s and my kids have it as well..
Homage to staggering beauty paid in the same currency. His work is immortal, bless him.

Loussier Loussieeeer Loussieeeeeeeer!

I really love Jacques! Especially his Satie record was sublime. But this here is something different...
I think Jacques sees himself as foot soldier to the general, but he really is a Colonel.
he,s the best
fresh, amazing
... an Indictment on humanity that this does not have 100 million hits.
I agree yet exclusiveness of knowing him and his Work probably make us "special". That sais I never miss an opportunity to share my exclusiveness.
Worse, who were the insects that gave it thumbs down?!
this takes me back to my grandfather with a very expensive Philips record player and very snobbish tastes...
👍

There is 720, but exst 1440 2160
Why not 1440 or 2160?
It looks like a serious Bach music modification ( Jesus que ma joie demeure)
Loose the drummer and it would be great😐
