A lot of fighters say they practice JKD but when they actually fight I don't see a lot of JKD at all. But you actually use JKD techniques and principles in your fights and it's really beautiful and impressive!

JKD doesn’t have a set of particular techniques. It’s not a martial art. It’s only a philosophical concept.

@@ShadowrulzalwaysI like to put it this way:
It’s base on the fundamental principles that are essential to the core of fighting or obstacles solving even-It paves the way for it, so we can reach our destination faster and sooner. So is it a concept, a philosophy? Sure, it’s part of its existence.
Now, a good idea, a good concept can be anything, only if, we put it into practice-we practice it, express ourselves with it, so it can come to life. Otherwise no matter how good an idea or a creed is, it’s just talk--it is dead.
So I think it is safe to say that, JKD is a concept/philosophy that can only be meaningful(alive/exist) through actions.

3:08 those are some really fast kicks

    • @jkda-fong999
      @jkda-fong999  Год назад +1

      His kick was fast.
But speed is not a decisive factor but a bonus in fights.
Timing + distance control is the key.
You don’t have to be fast, but if your sense of timing is good, you can sense the gaps between your opponents’ attacks, or even better, intercept them before they can execute it.

Hey Fong sifu. Great clip. Who is your JKD teacher. Is it Ted Wong?

      Hello! Thank you.
Besides my enlightened teacher from 20 years ago in Taiwan, I also learned from Jerry Poteet, Dan Inosanto, Ted Wong and Taky Kimura.
I’m searching for the core value of Master Lee’s way of martial arts(JKD), therefore in my way of JKD you won’t see I biased toward to any individual JKD system, because I have my own system🙏🏻.

@@jkda-fong999 I Knew Ted Wong was in there somewhere. But WOW to have learned from 4 first generation students. What an honor that must have been. Anyways I know its been a while but I hope you make new videos. Keep the good work coming. Take care.

@@jkda-fong999 Hello A-Fong, I take it you never learned any Oakland JKD. Which is a "very important" missing puzzle to the JKD journey. If you ever touch hands with us, you will love what you will see. As you may or may not known, JKD was birthed in Oakland. The years from Jun Fan Gung Fu to Original Oakland JKD is an exclusive journey that the Seattle and Los Angeles guys miss out on.
Everybody is focused on Inosanto and Ted Wong, the two most popular guys from the Los Angeles branch. However, those guys missed out on a lot of development from the Oakland branches under James Yimm Lee. I hope you read the book "The Dragon and The Tiger" so you could learn about how important James Yimm Lee's friendship with Bruce Lee was. Because James Lee was the most capable fighter and was almost appointed supervisor for all the JKD schools. Anyways, please consider looking into Original Oakland JKD.

@@jkdfighter4964 thank you for the information, last time I went to the States was a year earlier before Master Kimura’s departure, I was in WA to visit Master Kimura.
Now because of the pandemic it’s hard to go to anywhere, hopefully there’s opportunity in the future🙏🏻!

@@jkda-fong999 I'm not talking about Taky Kimura. I am talking about James Yimm Lee, from the Original Oakland JKD school.
Please consider visiting us in the future, you will like what we have. James Yimm Lee was very different from everybody, and he was (basically) co-founder of JKD alongside Bruce Lee. Thank you :)
