  • Using my popular Chiffon Melt & Pour Technique, I attempt to create a STUNNING Bonfire & Embers Soap! Does it turn out to look like a bonfire? Depends on who you ask! Is it a stunning soap? Well, I think so, but I may be a bit biased. I was very happy with the results, yet as always, I'm planning to improve on this for the future. I have plans for many designs using this technique, and hopefully I'll find the time for all of them.

    Crafters choice is also my favorite. Both for the feel and the melting temps!! There are a lot of people that dont realize that different bases & brands have different melt points

      I agree- it's easy to think they will all perform the same! I was floored when I found Crafter's Choice, it opened me up to design the way I wanted. ❤😊

      Thank you! 🙂❤ Trust me when I tell you that I tried to get the bottoms of the flames to go to the embers, but once you pour and start having to balance the 5 sheets, all bets are off! Those things are dang slippery! 🤣 I think the only way to do that would be to attach or "glue" them directly to the embers. If I did that, I would create much smaller sheets that don't breech the top. Maybe next year! 🤣

    You could combat the green by coating the yellow with a very thin coat of clear over the yellow as a barrier against the black.

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I may experiment with that. I'm not sure the black is actually bleeding into the yellow, though, just "showing" through. I can't say for sure, but maybe as I use my bar more, maybe I'll be able to tell. I still may try that next year, anyway! 😊😁

    Wow! Those look beautiful! You are very creative! When you were creating the sheets it reminded me of fruit roll ups, made me want some 😂. I do have a question. Does all melt and pour give the weird rubbery feeling to the skin? Each one I’ve tried gives my skin that feeling. Which base would you recommend that doesn’t give you that rubbery feel?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  8 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you so much! They reminded me of fruit rollups, too! 😂 The thing about the skin feel is that it's very subjective. What might feel good to you may not feel good to me, etc. I find that Crafter's Choice Premium Bases do well for me, as do their Detergent Free. I feel like the in-between ones, like the Basic Clear or Basic White are not great for my skin. Glycerin soap has a different feel and sometimes it's actually the moisture from the glycerin that feels odd until you get used to it- especially if looking for the "squeaky clean" feel that is usually from strong detergents. My very favorites from Crafter's Choice (Wholesale Supplies Plus- and I'm not affiliated, they are just my favorite) is the Premium Crystal Clear, the Premium Aloe & Olive, and the Detergent Free Baby Buttermilk Soaps. I also like the Coconut Mango Soap from Makesy (not cheap, and not great for designing but feels great to me). I like some of Stephenson's brand for my skin- like Goatmilk, but not great for the kind of art soaps I do. I honestly suggest trying the smallest sizes, and a few different types from some of the main soap suppliers before investing in a large block. They save money in the long run, but not if you hate the soap. I really hope that helps, and sorry for the long response! Somewhere in my Beginner Playlist Series is a video about choosing a soap base. 😁

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  8 месяцев назад +1

      Quick note: overheating any base will also make it feel rubbery.

    Ms. Terry, you are so creative. I'm always astounded by what you come up with. I do have a question about what you put into your small mica and alcohol (I think) cups as you were mixing up your colors. You had a small white dropper bottle and added a few drops of something into the cups (example @ 05:22). Just curious what that was. Titanium Dioxide perhaps?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much! 🙂🥰Yes, 3 drops of titanium dioxide, dispersed in glycerin. I apologize if I didn't say that, I thought I did! 🙄Ooops.

    I think it’s Beautiful ❤. I’ve seen green in bonfires 🔥 before. May I ask your black charcoal. How did you mix it? With what and ratios? I love your videos

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  7 месяцев назад +1

      thank you so much! 🙂🥰 I mix the activated charcoal into pure vegetable glycerin, it's difficult to say the ratio, because while I SHOULD weight it, I don't. If you go by mass, which you shouldn't but I do, it's about double the glycerin. Approximately 1 Tbsp of Charcoal to 2 Tbsp of Glycerin. When I stir it in, I sometimes adjust: I want it to be totally opaque, but not a paste, so sometimes I play with the balance a little. This is not an accurate way to measure, but being an artist, I'm always going for the visual. To melted soap base, I add about a Tablespoon of the mixture per pound. If I want it more opaque, I might mix a little charcoal into alcohol and add it in as well. It's far more potent that way and you can add less to get the same color. I just like to have my squeeze bottle ready with the blend of glycerin, and it helps to balance for those who may have skin drying issues with just charcoal (me). I hope that helps and didn't confuse you! 😁

    Would i add the fragrance to the inlays also?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  6 месяцев назад

      I added a little to mine, but only the base part of the fragrance which doesn't discolor (I think it was Applewood Fir Needle) but I didn't add the extra note that I added to the black because it tends to discolor (campfire) and it can be really overpowering. Hope that helps. 🙂🥰

    How much Glycerin did you use for the flames?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  4 месяца назад

      I added about 1/2 tsp per pound, I think. A very small amount keeps it pliable, if you're using crafter's choice. Not sure about Stephenson's or other brands, as I haven't used that technique with anything else.
