    Hi Coach Simone, love ALL your videos. Why do you not return serve with topspin? Thank you

    I love Simone's videos and hope one day to be half the player she is.
    I think this changing of grips is more suited to upper 3.5 and above players as they have much better ball control than beginners who change their grip and leave it to "shovel" the ball without rotating their arm and hand under the ball.
    Then when they go to a forehand or backhand their paddle is completely disoriented. What are your thoughts Simone?

    The tool is called the Topspin Pro. It has a tennis ball on it but works just fine with a pickleball paddle

    Simone, can you explain pronation and how it relates to the topspin shot?

    In my opinion it's still possible to generate forehand topspin from a continental grip,swinging low to high.It's the brushing upward that creates the topspin.However, similar to Simone, I change grips to eastern (rather than semi-western) when time allows.

    Great video! I think grips is an overlooked topic.
    Although, I think the first part of the video about a training tool for top spin. I think that really only applies to beginner beginners, who have no concept of spin. I've seen people try that out in tennis, who already have an idea of how spin works. And I don't see it make a huge difference. They get better practice with a live ball.

    How do we transition from semi western to Continental during play?

    Hi Simone i li ve in bonita maybe we"ll run into each other some day, Just a quick question while using different grips do yo you instinctively know the feel of the different grips I imagine it would be hard in close battle nvz play it would be hard to change grips that quickly I would love to use topspin at the nvz thanks Jim

    With your two handed backhand (just watched your video with Parento) what grip do you use on the left hand? Just anywhere comfortable because the right is in continental? Or do you do semi-western backhand?? Thanks! Great content as always.

      Great question Novak Djokovic his left hand grips is a semi western and that what I have been using before I watch his backhand grips analyze. I was using eastern grip add more topspin when you use Semi western.

    My question is why you choose not to return serves with top spin?

    • @DavidGonzalez-lw1pl
      @DavidGonzalez-lw1pl 2 года назад +1

      Because a top spin drive will get to your opponent faster leaving you less time to get to the net.

    • @afterthesmash
      @afterthesmash 2 года назад

      The other half of the answer is that she only plays at a high enough level where her opponents are never far enough out of position that a topspin drive return is useful punishment. And even then, the punishment is best delivered with a side-order of surprise, so it's _still_ not a common stroke option.

    • @afterthesmash
      @afterthesmash 2 года назад

      Yes, and then the question becomes: why invest in mastering a stroke situation you'll only use rarely during intermediate play and hardly ever in advanced play? Of course, if low intermediate is your primary competition group and you don't intend to rise above that level, you could justify pulling this club out of your bag every so often.

      @@DavidGonzalez-lw1pl An exception is a looping top spin drive. But not easy for most.

    I do love your videos and this is just a suggestion - the music is very distracting in this one. Just my opinion but it would be better without.

    the problem is the ball does not bounce very high. you really have to bend your knees to hit the topspin... unless your arms are very long :)
