S voice is better, because it gave him directions as the siri did not on the other hand siri's actual voice sounds better than s voice so they are both quite good but overall I think s voice is the better one for me.
I have a Galaxy S3 & my wife has an iPhone 4S. This morning I tested the 4S on voice recognition. I said "Get today's weather forecast" and it came back with "Calling Elizabeth Farley" and started dialing! Not only did it get my command completely wrong, It didn't ask for confirmation before dialing! I then did the same with my S3 and it gave me the local weather within 4 seconds. I followed up with "Google voltage clamp schematic" on my S3 and in 3 seconds it had a list of correct Google hits.
thank you for the video. I would like to see a video that could find some more differences between the 2. where one device is stumped. Its really a "vs" video. its more of a showcase of the overall technology.
yeah, i agree... but the two are a big achievement in technology, with the same use... I find the two just okay with not much of a difference... you can speak to them and they can help you... it's just that people just think of who is the winner and the better... in the long run, Siri has it's own capabilities and Svoice also has its own. It depends on the user how he will judge the two but in real, there is no winner or better between them.
Siri is using an English English voice presumably because the uploader is English, and his iPhone is set appropriately. I don't know if he prefers the U.S. English voice on S Voice, or if Samsung's defaults are wrong. And I don't know which video you were watching, but Siri is generally smarter in processing natural language inputs than S Voice.
i live in nyc and whenever i'm outside (and there's a ton of ambient noise), siri completely blows the s voice out of the water because of better voice recognition and microphone. inside that room, it should be no problem for either because it's perfectly quiet. try an outside test.
I'm sorry but it's not a copy of Siri. Siri is just voice recognition and Samsung wanted to add that to their phone as well. You can hear the voice and it's clear, it understands a hell of a lot of things like you saw in the video, it can do things related to apps, hence sending a text, loading the weather, and loading Google Maps. To me it sounds like you just hate Samsung, they're both good.
I have never had an iphone or the GS's but it seems apple is just repackaging the iphone in a slightly different shape, color with hardware improvements everytime they come out with a new one, Siri is pretty cool tho. I was looking at the GS3 reviews and it has things like touching other GS3 to share pics, taking the phone up to ur ear while texting to call them instead of texting lol, it doesn't dim the brightness if looking at it, if you missed calls and texts next time u pick it up it buzzes.
I've tried to use S Voice to send messages without looking at the device, however it can't do anything unless it's unlocked what makes it not useful for real situations.
Does anyone know if the hardware is compatible/different between the unlocked S3 from Sprint & AT&T? In other words, if one got a US made S3 from Sprint or AT&T for overseas use with Sim cards, could it be used with the appropriate Sim card on either AT&T or Sprint networks when returning for periods in theUS?
Mate I had written a lot of stuff about cellphones and technology. But here /watch?v=89sz8ExZndc This video is from 2006, so the event where it took place is even older. Check the pinch to zoom in and multi-touch, often touted as Apple's innovations. So there, I don't think we need to argue any further.
i've to buy an mobile 2maro. in choice of iphone 4s or galaxy s3. which one is have more performance and user friendly. which is works offline. siri or s-voice. Reply me soon.
I hate to admit it but Apple does have a pretty nifty feature here that works better than what's currently available in Android...BUT...Android is catching up with Google Now and Dragon Mobile assistant.
Here's a little insight, keep in mind I do not sway either sides(iPhone/Others). Some of the iPhone's services like Siri and maps are limited when the phone is used outside US jurisdiction, whether it's the iPhone's choice or if they are bound by contract, it's still limiting, and this video demonstrates an example of what I'm trying to show at about 3:45 when he asks fro direction outside of the US. Keep in mind, both devices are amazing and both have almost similar features.
The iOS 5 iPhone 4s falls down on the final question, not because of speech parsing, but because Apple didn't have the data sources for outside the United States then. It's an illustration of why Apple was desperate to get its own map product together: Google didn't want to hand over all their mapping goodies. But Apple would have done well to slap a "Beta" on their Maps, like they did with Siri.
You do realize that Nuance was the first company to begin voice recognition in cell phones? Google then incorporated a more advanced version of voice recognition which they implemented in Android 2.3. After this, apple decided to get into the voice recognition game by creating a software that would allow one to interact with the phone a little more humanly. By saying Apple is the first is a gross misconception, they simply improved what was already there.
Since we dont know all the 200 features or ios 6, we cant compare. And if you want to compare features we know in ios 6, here is 1. Siri- See siri advancements(books, Movies, Tickets, book restaurant, find them, ask anything about your favorite sport, tweet by speaking / update FB status by speaking, ask weather, ask any questions, eyes free.) Siri is so much more international. Android is not even near. Even other things like Facebook intergration, Passbook is alot better than google wallet.
Both seem to run exactly the same, and samsung (which is a great brand in general) has a bigger screen to play with. However, I still find myself leaning towards iPhone mainly because siri sounds a bit more human, and I like how she said, "It doesn't look good today" rather than just giving the weather. I know that's really small and simple, but I like it. Regardless, both are good, so get which ever costs best for you.
So many of these fail tests... What you don't seem to grasp is that the S3 uses a MULTITASKING OS - and the iPhone is NOT. So you probably have like 5,6,7 or even 10 processes running in the background on the S3 and iphone cannot multitask so it only uses CPU power on Siri in this case). So, to be fair - start your test by turning off ALL running processes on the S3, then try again. To prove my point, look at the wifi download arrow is on 50% of your test even when S-voice is not accessing web
well, its funny, because the HTC label wasnt introduced anywhere until 2008, right after the iphone 3G release. Which makes sense, because in 2000, we had pretty much JUST gotten colored screens on SOME cell phones. Mind you, those were flip phones...Oh and your windows powered smart phone wasn't even a concept until 2006. Like...I dont know how old you are...but you obviously werent alive in the late 90's to early 2000's...the world wasnt always this tech advanced kid.
hahaha the nokia n73 had a front cam in 2007. and it wasnt the first. the n72 for example also shot videos before the iphone even came out-which had a 2 mp cam without flash, without video option.
Oh and I forgot, Windows Mobile released in 2000. After the death of Windows CE, which ran on many colour Pocket PCs/PDAs (the "smartphones" of the time).
actually the firs voice recognition was done by Microsoft many years ago so let's not argue about originality . both softwares have strengths . it's good that there is competition . in the end the consumer is the one that benefits from this . I don't care which one is better . I am pleased with the one I have .
I got the Galaxy S3 yesterday for my upgrade and I'm going to return it in a couple of hours. I wanted to give Android another chance but it was a pain in the ass. You can't even organize your damn pictures or albums without having to jump through a million hoops. S Voice is extremely slow and can't even understand you most of the time. The Android OS was eating up my battery like crazy! Kudos to whoever actually likes the Android OS and phones that support it.
My android phone doesn't lag or glitch at all. Ive had 5 iphones then got the galaxy. Its smooth and very responsive. Maybe your talking about earlier versions of android. Those, i wouldnt know about, because i had iphones. But now my friends and I have all adopted android and our phones rock!!! Its all opinion.
lolwut? Your memory seems a bit fuzzy. Apple didn't invent smartphones or anything that you have in a cellphone today. In fact even their "swipe to unlock" was demo'ed back in 2000~2002 in a tech expo by a euro company. Also a good milestone is HTC creating the first (or one of the first) smartphone (windows powered) in 2002. That was merely 5 years before the iphone. And the design was very similar. Rectangular with rounded corners. Amazing stuff huh?
wen u say how to get to the opra house the samsung galaxys3 does it straght away but the iphone says search web plus i like samsung galaxy s3 better thaan any phone
The phone voice accents didn't get my attention at all until I read people fussing about them as British in the comments. Don't care to watch this again and I'll take your word for it.
@aleco1234 got the S3 and iphone 5 free in phone contract( and another upgrade to 4G vers of s3 next year). my sis got the 5 as part of the upgrade but she prefers her 4s. the 5 and 3S are both great phones and on contract price was indifferent so we could have all got 5s but s3 has more freedom than a 5 so it was the better choice because despite the odd better feature on iphone 5. And the phone is hardly large, its just very tall
You can add more memory to the phone unlike the iphone, it also has flash, has a 1.4 megapixel front camera where the iphone has a 0.8 megapixel front camera. The battery lasts longer and has a wireless charger. Plus the iphone processor is made by samsung :P
Like seriously why do people want to comment "Apple/Samsung suck". First of all, just because you're using one of their phones doesn't mean you have the best phone in the world. Second, it's good to see all these companies compete or else we would have a system of monopoly and also there would be no need for them to improve since there will be no competition. It takes damn hard work to make these devices do be thankful that you're even lucky to own one.
Well Apple is a long way behind Android then. The voice recognition on the S3 which is quite old now is MILES better than the 4S. And I can only imagine it's even better on the latest Androids.
S voice is better, because it gave him directions as the siri did not on the other hand siri's actual voice sounds better than s voice so they are both quite good but overall I think s voice is the better one for me.
Callum gamble It would be interesting to see how things have changed since these phones were the leading models!
galaxy S3 is the best
No IPhone 4s Id Better Then Galaxy
The maps on siri is now working in Australia, UK and Canada
I have a Galaxy S3 & my wife has an iPhone 4S. This morning I tested the 4S on voice recognition. I said "Get today's weather forecast" and it came back with "Calling Elizabeth Farley" and started dialing! Not only did it get my command completely wrong, It didn't ask for confirmation before dialing!

You can use the S-Voice to open any app named in English or a app which is easy enough to pronounce
thank you for the video. I would like to see a video that could find some more differences between the 2. where one device is stumped. Its really a "vs" video. its more of a showcase of the overall technology.
You can't remember the release date of the 4S and the S3?
And yes, that video is of only a multitouch platform screen. It isnt a cellular device and HTC wasnt even thought of yet.
yeah, i agree... but the two are a big achievement in technology, with the same use... I find the two just okay with not much of a difference... you can speak to them and they can help you... it's just that people just think of who is the winner and the better... in the long run, Siri has it's own capabilities and Svoice also has its own. Was the time of the phones spent processing the command sped up? The recognition for what you're saying seems pretty fast
The S3 also gives you where's the Nearest subway or location of a restaurant? ;). Always recognizes my voice.
ehm... the S voice meant: do you want to use it once or should i save it so you can use it multiple times
Good comparison. Really goes to show how its about the same either way (I live in north america).
Voice applications are to improve greatly in future. I do not think they are done right now.
What do you mean by customs piece? It comes in pieces? Or is it running a customized operating system?
Both did quite well,it will never be perfect because it's hard to develop a voice command app that gets everyones way of talking.
i live in nyc and whenever i'm outside (and there's a ton of ambient noise), siri completely blows the s voice out of the water because of better voice recognition and microphone. inside that room, it should be no problem for either because it's perfectly quiet. try an outside test.

It's been around since the first android phone the G1. Just now you get a response.
Nice job, very helpful. Thanks for posting
Excellent, fair comparison. Thank you
It's very interresting. Thank you for that video.
Even though GSIII is the current best smartphone with Android OS, its transitions aren't so smooth =/
I've tried to use S Voice to send messages without looking at the device, however it can't do anything unless it's unlocked what makes it not useful for real situations.
S Voice is just for Samsung, right? Is there no Android version of Siri for all android devices? ie: Asus Nexus 7?
Does anyone know if the hardware is compatible/different between the unlocked S3 from Sprint & AT&T?

which one is have more performance and user friendly.

Why was a question mark after the text on S Voice?
I hate to admit it but Apple does have a pretty nifty feature here that works better than what's currently available in Android...BUT...Android is catching up with Google Now and Dragon Mobile assistant.
HOW DO YOU GET YOUR SIRI WITH AN ACCENT.. soo cool
Isn't competition GREAT! Forcing technology to expand and improve. So Sweet :)

Yeah, I know but its how the product is presented that appeals to me you know?
Just to say Apple has expanded their Siri location searches, i'm currently on the UK and I can use it in here. :]

good stuff, thanks for the vid
why are they selling iphone5 at such a low price this year? USD199 are they going brook?
I have an S3 but sometimes it just messes up my words so I don't use it as much.
Both seem to run exactly the same, and samsung (which is a great brand in general) has a bigger screen to play with. I gotta choose which one I could buy on Black Friday(2012) Any Suggestions?

My mom is giving me her S3 Tomorrow!!!! Can't wait :D
loved your voice (:
@AppleIsSimplyTheBest dude, wtf why you be postin that on every Samsung galaxy s3 video?
They are so similar it's hard to choose which one i like better
where did you get siris different voice?
How many cores has the new i5 got then?
hey, i live in switzerland and i'm about to go buy an iphone 4s. Will i get Siri? And will she works normally?
Did you not watch this video? They both have their pros and cons, but it does not fail miserably compared to Siri.
Software is updated constantly, so it doesn't matter.
actually the firs voice recognition was done by Microsoft many years ago so let's not argue about originality . both softwares have strengths . it's good that there is competition . in the end the consumer is the one that benefits from this . Now that I have your address, I'm coming over your house, I'm gonna find you, and I'm gonna shake your hand for this awesome video.
It's not available right now. You're gonna have to wait a bit.
So why is the new Iphone 5 screen larger???
Very close battle, but I think that siri is faster but S voice has more options and it is more accurate
trying to find the app on the play store...
what if you could get both phones to talk to each other???
My android phone doesn't lag or glitch at all. Ive had 5 iphones then got the galaxy. Its smooth and very responsive. Maybe your talking about earlier versions of android. @petey1994uk and you can't say the same about some android users?
The phone voice accents didn't get my attention at all until I read people fussing about them as British in the comments. Don't care to watch this again and I'll take your word for it.
I am coming over soon?.. why is there a question mark?
Great video!
3:54 LOL It says 悉尼歌劇院 which means "the Sydney Opera House".
I never use those things but its nice to have features and samsung and apple never forget to add features.
Siri messed up at the last question.... S Voice all the way
hey dont forget this is the iphone 4s, the iphone 5 would give tell you how to navigate to there
It would be AWESOME if you could put GlaDOS voice in any of these phones...
Your accent might have confused siri. When you said send it sound more sent
But as the iPhone does not use CPU power on multitasking, the test is not fair
gs3 seems cool
just a note tho
dont show thoses numers at 2:50
omg you live in new south wales? i live in south wales
I'd be happy with either phone. A world where Google and Apple are competing and Microsoft is playing market catch-up is a good one.
@aleco1234 got the S3 and iphone 5 free in phone contract( and another upgrade to 4G vers of s3 next year). my sis got the 5 as part of the upgrade but she prefers her 4s. the 5 and 3S are both great phones and on contract price was indifferent so we could have all got 5s but s3 has more freedom than a 5 so it was the better choice because despite the odd better feature on iphone 5. so you like to show so many Michaels numbers ??

Is ti same in the iPad mini????

samsun copy the siri icon??
Well Apple is a long way behind Android then. The voice recognition on the S3 which is quite old now is MILES better than the 4S. And I can only imagine it's even better on the latest Androids.
