I more than agree with this theory, plus Aonuma said a while back when TP HD came out, that when you play BotW you will want to go back and play TP, knowing him, that's more than just marketing talk
...I'm just gonna go over in the corner and vomit now..I don't care if it's a joke, the mere thought of the 'Unholy Triforce' of the Cd-I games makes me wanna hurl even if it's got the only game in the Zelda franchise (even if none of the 3 are canon) that you actually play as Zelda the whole time.
I don't know why people are disqualifying the child timeline when they bring up the old lady saying the history of the royal family of Hyrule is also the history of the CG. Ganon/Ganondorf has carried out repeated attacks throughout the history of the CT just like he has throughout the history of the DFT.
pooftiger not really it's shown in oot and rpm he can switch between form at will in f2f he probably just stayed in his beast form because it's stronger
And that's the only weak point of the timeline because : -AoL is a direct sequel to LoZ. -ALttP takes place before the NES games according to the back of its box. -LA is a direct sequel to ALttP. -OoT was stated by several of its developers to be a prequel to ALttP. -MM is a direct sequel to OoT. -WW is a sequel to OoT. When this game came out, Aonuma mentioned the split timeline for the first time, saying WW followed centuries after OoT's adult ending. -FS didn't have a specific placement when it was first released, but Aonuma later said it was the "oldest tale" in the -Zelda timeline (this was before MC and SS were released). -FSA is a sequel to FS. -MC is a prequel to FS. -TP is another sequel to OoT. Aonuma confirmed the split timeline when TP came out, saying the game took place centuries after OoT's child ending and parallel to WW. -PH is a direct sequel to WW. -ST is a sequel to PH. -SS is a prequel to OoT and a general origin story for the series. Zodrex All these games are loosley connected at best. Why are these games in the positions in the Timeline that they are? If Link's Awakening is a direct sequel to A Link to the Past, then why is Oracle of Ages and Seasons in between both games? Why is the Link portrayed in the Oracle games as much younger then the Link in A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening? Why is Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures so far apart in the Timeline? What's the justification for such placements? Why is Triforce Heroes in the Downfall Timeline? Why is Triforce Heroes Link the same Link that's in A Link Between Worlds when they look so different? Why did Nintendo tell so many Timeline theorist that there is no absolute Timeline before they made their own Timeline? If Nintendo includes alternative possibilities such as Link dying to Ganon in Ocarina of Time as a split in the Timeline, then they have essentially made the Timeline useless as their can be infinite possibilities for any circumstance. I'm sorry to tell you that, but Nintendo didn't pay attention to this stuff untill recently. There is no real thought in this Timeline.
This is as simple as I can get it. Calamity Gannon its the Essence of Ganondorfs power. With out a mind of it's own, it couldn't control its own powers. Looking for the other peices of the triforce, he would hope to find so he can once again be in his human form. But what he realy seeks is the spirit orbs in the sheikah shrines.
I want to say "but what about the Sheikah?" You say the Gerudo haven't appeared in the Downfall timeline. Well, the Sheikah haven't appeared in any timeline either as far as we know. This is the first time they're showing such influence as well. And they shouldn't be able to since they were said to have been wiped out before OoT. But at this point, I'm starting to think that's an oversight by Aonuma and Nintendo. I'm still rooting for the Downfall timeline because of Aonuma's words and a 4th possible timeline because of the Shiekah, but this is still a solid theory and I buy it.
justandresx Best Timeline ever... period DFT and AT can't compare to this awesomeness. Someday in the future I'll play the games in that order and it'll be amazing!
BrokensoulRider Yeah... well I can ignore this and minish Cap and FS aswell who are also in this timeline going from Skyward Sword to TP/BotW. So I'm fine with those 5 „Big“ Games😁
BrokensoulRider it was supposed to be a prequel to ALTTP... or was it sequel? either way it was originally supposed to be a DT game (downfall timeline)
HMK Hey HMK! I have been dying to ask you. It has to do with the backstory info on BOTW in regards to the Sheikah. What are your complete thoughts on that and how it fits in your timeline placement? Personally, I think the Calamity Ganon map disproves this being in any of the three timeline splits. If you want me to elaborate, I will be glad to. What are your thoughts?
I agree with most of this. I am getting a little bit tired of DF advocates stealing elements that only existed in other timelines and saying "well there is nothing that says they can't exist in the DF timeline."
My theory: this takes place in the mushroom kingdom...PLOT TWIST link and zelda are saving peach and Mario just in time for the new Mario to come out making it a spinoff sequel....SECOND PLOT TWIST! Gannon got peach addicted to heroin and Mario was so depressed by that, he just became an alcoholic, and SSOOOO...Link and Zelda must get them to a rehab successfully after rescue, which if you know addicts, will be the hardest part of the game, making Gannon seem like a walk through the park. Good luck Zelda folks! Oh this isn't a theory, it's a fact. Ok, gotta get back to my mushrooms...later!
I really want BotW to be in the Child Timeline, but what the lady says about calamity Ganon enduring over the ages makes me doubt it. First of all, the child timeline is mostly about the human Ganondorf, with the beast Ganon only appearing at the end of Four Swords Adventures. Also, Ganondorf died at the end of TP, and a new Ganondorf was born several hundred years later. He didn't endure over the ages. The downfall timeline, however, is all about Ganon. The same Ganon who is time after time defeated or banished to another realm, but never killed. He endured over the ages. Maybe BotW takes place 'ages' after Four Swords adventures... that could explain what the woman says. But if it is in the downfall timeline, Nintendo has some serious explaining to do about the Zoras, Wolf Link, TP castle town and the Gerudo
I put it either a long, long time after FSA, or a long, long time after Zelda 2. To the point I doubt the state of the Triforce prior matters. It's thousands of years later, and basically acts as an end to whichever timeline it's in. There will be multiple hypothetical future games in between.
"It is... *ad break*" ..... If that was planned I bloody hate you. But I do agree with your points. In fact I have nothing to add except a simple question. Ganon exists as a Gerudo thanks to their legend right? Every 100 years a male Gerudo will be born to lead the Gerudo tribe right? Well assuming that the calamity Ganon was indeed born a Gerudo what if that legend is why Link was woken up when he was, 100 years later. Maybe the new male Gerudo leader wants the power of the one who came before him.
My big guess is that it's the Adult Timeline WAY AFTER the Great Flood. Imagine that the waters recede and Hyrule resurfaces. What if the Master Sword lost its juice after all that time sealing Ganondorf? What if Ganondorf lost his mind from literally having a sword trough his skull and has now become a creature of Chaos whose only reason to exist is to bring Demise´s curse to fruition? A "Calamity Ganon" if you will. The Races are all there, even Birdpeople confirmed to be Rito. Zoras can survive frozen, so after the real flood in the end of WW they could´ve come back from the depts. Koroks and a live Deku Tree. Sheikah and their new found Tech. I bet my Switch (given the luck I win it) that the Adult timeline is the right choice.
amoore12321 Gaming It's on the Wii U, you know... There are no gameplay differences oher than the system. I would get a switch after Mario Odessey if I were you.
@amoore12321 Gaming I have it on Switch & like it a lot. To me, the graphics beat the Wii U version. Especially with the 65 inch 4k smart tv I play my games on now.
I had strongly believed that botw would take place in the downfall timeline until I watched this video. You brought up some really strong points to support it being in the child timeline. I'm completely convinced now that it is. Great video and can't wait for you to hit 100k.
He already pointed that out in a previous timeline vid that the destroyed castle town, fountain and banner placement all look very similar if not the exact same as TP.
Also, the placement of the Temple of Time, the ruins of Ocarina of Time's castle and town, and Twilight Princess' castle and town in Breath of the Wild match up very nicely with Twilight Princess. My theory is that during the Gerudo - Hylian War (between MM and TP), Hyrule Castle and castle town were destroyed, along with the Temple of Time. After the war, the castle and town were rebuilt far to the north (as shown in TP and BotW). The Temple of Time was not relocated due to it being too sacred and "one does not simply" move the entrance to Sacred Realm and the Triforce. Due to the fact that many of the areas in the south became sparsely populated after the war, the Lost Woods eventually grew over much of this area and further decayed it, as seen in Twilight Princess. The events of Twilight Princess take place and Ganondorf is defeated. According to the Hyrule Historia, Hyrule entered a time of peace after this, and relationships between the Gerudo and the Hylians improved (which is shown in FSA). It can be assumed that as Hyrule experienced an era of peace, they were able to put their attention towards rebuilding certain landmarks such as the Great Bridge of Hylia and the Temple of Time, which required much deforestation. Hyrule Castle Town is also expanded and advanced to the size seen in Breath of the Wild. These landmarks remained very much intact until the events of Breath of the Wild and the Calamity. They are once again met with ruin and much destruction. This explains why the Temple of Time is seen to be in better condition in BotW than in TP, though still destroyed. I have more evidence to support this theory, such as how the Twilight magic greatly resembling the Sheikah magic in BotW (both glow pink when evil and blue when good), but I will end it here for now.
Monokuma Definitely not after Zelda 2. The timeline caption is "Hyrule's Decline & Last Hero" Hyrule's Decline is a reference to Zelda 1&2. By that we can assume what last hero means. Now before Zelda 1. Maybe. However the child timeline is more possible
I'm satisfied with this result Aonuma even said we'd be having some "oh I see" moments between TP and BoTW plus downfall timeline has been getting all the new games lately, it's like a dumping ground for new titles
Heroof Masks Yeah, but he didn't attack Hyrule in that line so it still wouldn't count because the battle had never even occurred so Hyrule wasn't really even affected. Plus I think Aonuma meant Ganon not Ganondorf in which the only time Ganon really made a crucial attack in Hyrule was in FSA.
I've heard pretty much a very similar timeline theory, 8 months ago, and I'm really happy cuz you confirmed even more that my favorite time for breath of the wild to be is where it is:)
I think that the game is going to take place after TP. Think about it : 10 years have passed after TP's release , but Nintendo didn't have to make an HD release. The game was made for the GC/Wii : those consoles were released right before the WiiU.They made an HD release for OoC and MM but those games were made for consoles many generations older than the 3ds so that is normal compared to the HD release of TP ('cause with that logic they could've made one for SS). -My point is that if BOTW doesn't have a connection with TP and Nintendo wasn't trying to tell us something, TP HD wouldn't have been released right before the new game's release.....(in my opinion)
It's gonna be a timeline combiner. Future Link finds a Delorean and goes back in time to fix the time lines. He also brings with him a sports almanac from the future because in the past the Gerudo, Zora, Goron and Rito tribes each had a casino at the four corners of the world.
pooftiger They were defeated in the events 100 years ago that led Link to be put in the shrine of resurrection. It has nothing to do with the events of the DF timeline (as far as we know).
Anon YMouse It's called an easter egg or a hint on what's in the next game. ALBW had Majora's Mask and guess what? We ended up getting Majoras Mask 3D.
Now that the game is out, we can say that this theory is officially confirmed by Zelda's dialogue when she "anoints" Link. She makes specific reference to the Hero of Twilight wielding the Master Sword before this incarnation of Link. Well done!
inb4 Clamity Ganon will actually be changed to Clamity Demise in the final game revealing that they called it Ganon pre release to throw us all off and it actually takes place after SS
If Breath of the Wild were to be after Four Swords Adventures, the Four Sword’s ultimate seal would have to be broken. After FSA, the Four Sword is the most strongly sealed sword in all of Zelda history. Not only does the hero have to pull it out, but there is also a magical shield around it. Those two layers of holy power is definitely not something Ganon can break out of by himself. Someone else would have to intervene. Which means we would need a sequel to FSA or an official Nintendo announcement on how the seal was broken.
I agree, especially when I talked to the bartender over at the Canteen in Gerudo town. I quote the bartender Furosa when saying "I can't tell how old you are, but you look a little young to be coming to my shop. You see, we mix special drinks here. Drinks that are definitely just for adults..."
Probably gonna happen after FSA for 2 reasons : FSA fits perfectly as a sequel to TP, and because it's the only timeline that Ganon isn't dead but sealed at the end. And Ganon broke out of his seal before Wind Waker, so he's definitely able to break free of the Four Sword's seal as well. I think that your theory makes sense (and I'm pretty good with timeline pacements of Zelda games)
to support this theory and also to those who keep asking why the great plateu is in BOTW. By the end of twilight princess some support cast (the friends of Rusl who help you save hyrule, i believe it was called the resistance) can be seen on the temple of time on the ending credits of the game. The lost woods/scared grove in Twilight Princess contains lots of ruins that are similar to Ocarina of Time's Hyrule Castle Town which The Great Plateu looks alot like it aswell (because is the same place). What im trying to say is that, the notorious "resistance" group wanted to restore ancient Hyrule Relics, and they restored the old Hyrule Castle Town and expanded the kingdom. Now with another Hylian town, rich on history and economy, The Hyrule Kingdom would gained a prestigious and peaceful era where they expanded even more creating new towns and forming new alliences (maybe putting the Gerudo war behind and make an actuall preace treaty). This "Golden Era" so to say, would brought technological advances since every race will be working hand to hand, making Hyrule prosperous and glorious. sorry for long post lol
Great theory, bro! Sounds pretty plausible to be honest! I was convinced post OoT prior ALTTP in my theory vid, but the way you explained this theory made it sound convincing haha. That said, I still think there's solid evidence of both theories, though I might be leaning more towards your theory now ;) #RoadTo100K Keep it up!
I have to get something off of my chest. HMK, when did you decide you were going to be a fanatic? I'm interested in the psychology of it. Your excitement for this game is downright insane. That's how it comes across to me because passion always looks mad from an outside perspective. What makes Zelda so special but please make it personal. As GameOverJesse once said, Too much hype! Prove him wrong!
I think you missed probably the strongest point being the ruins of TP Castle Town at the base of the Castle where Calamity Ganon resides... I don't recall a second Castle Town in any Zelda game other than Twilight Princess and BotW features ruins of both Castle Towns from OoT and TP... My original assumption was the downfall timeline but after the Game Awards trailer was shown I'm pretty much convinced that it has a Child Timeline placement...
I've noticed that there was barely ANY mention of the Triforce in BOTW, and in the end of BOTW, Zelda herself said he is pure evil reborn time and time again, BUT, IN BREATH OF THE WILD, GANON HAS GIVEN UP ON REINCARNATION IN ORDER TO ASSUME HIS PURE, ENRAGED FORM. In other words, the FINAL Ganon
It's amazing the amount great theory videos of BOTW have been made with only a handful of trailers and a demo that's apparently only one percent of the game, it just shows everyone's love for zelda. I'm going to stop second guessing as all these thoerys can be blown out the water with a single screenshot but going on what we have now I believe it will be after four swords and I think it will merge the timeline to make it more simple
Breath of the wild splits the downfall timeline from the Child timeline. (and possibly from the adult timeline as well.) Why? The whole downfall timeline is built upon the fact that Link lost a fight to Ganondorf in - at the moment - Ocarina of time. But this actually never happens there. *However,* that could have happened 100 years before Links awakening in BotW. It therefore isn't Ocarina of time, but rather BotW that made the split where Ganon(-dorf) triumphs over Link. It could either be managed through time travelling, or with the "alternative ending", of which Aonuma spoke (in this case it could also be after the 100 years period).
What if... Calamity Ganon IS the Triforce of Power? Ganondorf lost it when he died, but thanks to Demise's curse, his hate is fated to cycle eternally. What if Calamity Ganon is Demise's pure hatred manifested in the Triforce of Power?
It actually makes sense and I have a supporting thought regarding your thought on the 4-Swords Adventures Ganon escaping the 4-sword: His body may still be sealed in the 4-sword, but his spirit is able to exit since he's the reincarnation of Demise
I see a lot of people saying the Child Timeline doesn't work because the Temple of Time was destroyed, but isn't it possible it was rebuilt somewhere in there? The statue of Hylia hasn't been in any incarnations of the Temple so far, so it could be possible this is a newer version of the Temple that was repaired after the events of TP or Four Swords and dedicated to the goddess. Then, when Calamity Ganond destroyed Hyrule, the guardians destroyed the Temple before the Great Plateau rose up. 100 years passed and the Temple never got repaired, and is slowly becoming one with nature.
There are so many tales of Zelda yet to be told that we have no idea about, thus giving an infinite number of times Ganon can attack Hyrule. This gives way to many possible timeline placements.
I'm not totally sure about it taking place after Four Swords Adventures, but definitely the Child Timeline. Zelda mentions the Hero of Twilight by name during the events of Breath of the Wild
Oh My Days. With Only Another Week To Go The Switch And Breath Of The Wild Is Closer Than Ever. We've All Been Waiting. Everyone. The Time Is Nearly Here To Raise The Master Sword From The Pedestal And Defeat Gannon Once More.
I see more evidence to the downfall timeline, but Aonuma has made reference to TP. And there was also that happy mask salesman reference to. So its probably child timelime
This is literally at least 10,000 years after any of the other games given that they defeated Calamity Ganon with the army of guardians and the Divine Beasts. A VERY KEY CONCEPT that I learned in my latest playthrough of the game is that Zelda says that Ganon gave up on the cycle of reincarnation to become the calamity that he did become. This means that Ganon or Ganondorf does not come back after this game in that timeline. The key differences inside each of the timelines (ex. Hyrule being flooded and New Hyrule being founded inside the adult timeline, while the other two still have Hyrule) does not allow this to be a reunification because the Hylians and the races are found in many different places compared to where they are in BOTW, so it is extremely unlikely. And I also forgot to mention that it wasn't only the producer's word that it is after, there are alters at Zora's Domain that describe Princess Ruto becoming a sage and Ruta being named after her, CONFIRMING that this is in the adult timeline or downfall because Ruto becomes a sage in both and not the child since those events are prevented from happening. Seriously, I spent a lot of time playing the game to find this out, so please give me feedback. This states that it can't be in the child timeline, and it is from DIRECTLY IN THE GAME. One final note, it is hard to find the difference between easter egg and canon, since it has places like Linebeck, Zauz, and Mekar Islands, but also (IDK I CAN'T FIND ANY NAMES FROM THE DOWNFALL TIMELINE!!!! WTF THIS IS NOT IN NEW HYRULE, AND THE THREE GAMES IN DOWNFALL TAKE PLACE PRETTY FAST AFTER ONE ANOTHER)
Some counter-arguments: 1. "Gerudo as a tribe don't exist in the downfall timeline" First of all, the games that predate Ocarina of Time don't really count because the race hadn't been established yet. However, the Twinrova showing up in the Oracle series in Holodrum and Labrynna is more than enough evidence that the Gerudo tribe exists somewhere. And they aren't the only ones: Both Veran and Onox bear the Gerudo symbol, meaning that they either are Gerudo themselves or in alliance with them. Then there's also the possibility that Din's Oracle is in fact a Gerudo. She sure looks like one. Now, all the other games in the downfall timeline predate Ocarina of Time, but keep in mind that there's a Nabooru town in Adventure of Link. 2. "Sea Zora only exist in the child timeline" Other than Oracle of Ages, Link simply never gets the chance to explore the ocean in the downfall timeline.
I think a lot of people are looking at the whole "Ganon has attacked Hyrule repeatedly" thing wrong. Fact is, Ganon is the most recognizable of Demise's incarnations, of which he's had several. And prior to OoT, his other incarnations have attacked Hyrule multiple times.I believe Aonuma only referenced it to Ganon because he is the most recognizable one and because he is the one featured in BotW, but I dont think it rules out that he was talking about Demise's incarnations as a whole. To add to that, when who we assume is Impa in the trailer talks about the History of Calamity Ganon and the Royal Family, directly relates to the fact that Demise's curse on the Hyrule family and Link and the history it has through all the games post-SS.
Told you, he has no more body!. He's a ghost now and searches for a new one!. That is why he's building up his power for a new attack on the holy land. He can't do much in this state.
I'd like to say that just because Link is right-handed in Breath of the Wild doesn't mean that it's a Link we've seen in a previous Zelda title. It's possible that it's a Link we've seen before (the assumption is that it's Skyward Sword Link or that because Link lost his memory, his hand preference/dominance changed), but from what we've seen so far, it's near obvious that it's a new Link and Zelda. Also, I pretty much always thought it was in the Child Timeline along with wanting it in that timeline but who cares what I have to say.
I knew you were going to put it in the child timeline since it is your favorite. That being said you made excellent points. I for one thought it would be in the downfall timeline but watching this video and doing my own research I realized it would only fit on the downfall timeline before the events of a Link to the Past simply because in Hyrule in the downfall timeline there is never mention of the great Deku tree and All the Zoras in Hyrule attack you. Plus another big key is that Aonuma himself has said when you play Twilight Princess after breath of the wild you will have a moment of "Ohhhhh so that's what that meant" so it would only make sense if the game is in the same timeline as Twilight Princess. Again great theory and video
HMK since we know that link is defeated if not dead and put in the shrine of ressurection, it could be possible that link lost his part of the triforce like how ganondorf did in TP, and Zelda also loses hers in battle or some other way. This leaves room for calamity Ganon to come in and obtain the complete triforce, leaving Hyrule in ruin.
Urbosa cites Nabooru as a prominent gerudo historical figure. That means that either she had some unrelated significance in the child/downfall timeline. Which seems rather unlikely simply because we're all supposed to know why she's significant. That means this game has to take place in the adult timeline
Hey HMK! While thinking about the timeline placement of this game, I've arrived at the very same question of the Triforce. I mean, is basically the reason of why the events of a Zelda game starts to happen (inside of Hyrule of course). And yeah, I think our thinking may be right: In the adult timeline, Ganon doesn't get the full triforce and it is banished away forever, while in the downfall timeline, it is complete within Ganon's power before being used by Hyrule's monarchy. In both of those timelines, the Triforce is a recurring theme that is always mentioned. Within the Child Timeline, however, it is almost forgotten by folklore after Ocarina of Time: It isn't even mentioned in full name in Twilight Princess, if I'm not mistaken, and is not the main goal of the game, since the pieces are already given to the respective bearers. Probably Zelda already has the Triforce of Wisdom in this game from the very Start, and so does Link with the Triforce of Courage, and Ganon with the Triforce of Power. Without the Triforce, however, the people of Hyrule would have searched for something to use in place of it, and maybe thats when the Sheikah technology came in hand.
Share this theory with your Zelda legions! Post it everywhere My Hypelings! We are almost at 100K!!
LETS DO THIS!
hypelings lol
HMK
But what if we don't agree with it?
Only 4,000 left bro! i believe in you!
I more than agree with this theory, plus Aonuma said a while back when TP HD came out, that when you play BotW you will want to go back and play TP, knowing him, that's more than just marketing talk
It's a theory, something used for debate, the fact that if you don't agree with it can be used as launchpad for discussion
"Heres my biggest reason it's In the child timeline. It is.."
*Ad plays*
Them Ad Cockblocking!
Exactly he had no real argument throughout the video LOL
Haha I got a turbo tax ad. Fuck ads
NoobsUnited9000 Right when I saw it I checked comments for this
JoJo fans have their fair bit of trouble with Timelines, e.g people thinking the SBR-verse and the Irene-verse are the same thing.
I think that this game will be the game that comes after wand of gamelon
Ethan Haggart Well that's it. Everyone, put your theories aside. This game is a sequel to Wand of Gamelon, end of story. 😂😂
Christian Puddington Dont you know that Wand of Gamelon is in the era of wand?
Only the chosen ones have the real Timeline which was given to them by gamelon xD
...I'm just gonna go over in the corner and vomit now..I don't care if it's a joke, the mere thought of the 'Unholy Triforce' of the Cd-I games makes me wanna hurl even if it's got the only game in the Zelda franchise (even if none of the 3 are canon) that you actually play as Zelda the whole time.
Long live cd-i
I don't know why people are disqualifying the child timeline when they bring up the old lady saying the history of the royal family of Hyrule is also the history of the CG. Ganon/Ganondorf has carried out repeated attacks throughout the history of the CT just like he has throughout the history of the DFT.
Alex Grachek agreed.
Alex Grachek We're talking about *Ganon* not Ganon *dorf*.
Luna Skyle Ganon in the DFT is the same entity as Ganondorf that originated in OOT (if you're going down the timeline) just in a different form.
A little different. He sort of goes nuts when he gets the Triforce and becomes his beast form.
pooftiger not really it's shown in oot and rpm he can switch between form at will in f2f he probably just stayed in his beast form because it's stronger
I'm 99.99999999999999999% sure that Breath of the Wild is in the "Fuck you, Nintendo doesn't care Timeline."
Except it's not. I'm tired of the peoples who thinks the timeline was made just to answer the fans.
Zodrex Downfall Timeline is proof of it.
And that's the only weak point of the timeline because :
-AoL is a direct sequel to LoZ.
-ALttP takes place before the NES games according to the back of its box.
-LA is a direct sequel to ALttP.
-OoT was stated by several of its developers to be a prequel to ALttP.
-MM is a direct sequel to OoT.
-WW is a sequel to OoT. When this game came out, Aonuma mentioned the split timeline for the first time, saying
WW followed centuries after OoT's adult ending.
-FS didn't have a specific placement when it was first released, but Aonuma later said it was the "oldest tale" in the
-Zelda timeline (this was before MC and SS were released).
-FSA is a sequel to FS.
-MC is a prequel to FS.
-TP is another sequel to OoT. Aonuma confirmed the split timeline when TP came out, saying the game took place
centuries after OoT's child ending and parallel to WW.
-PH is a direct sequel to WW.
-ST is a sequel to PH.
-SS is a prequel to OoT and a general origin story for the series.
(Copy pasted from Reddit)
Warren Valion Nope, this is after SS at some point and maybe before MC
Zodrex
All these games are loosley connected at best.
Hey Guys! The beauty of a theory is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE! But all the cards will be on the table come the 3rd! GET READY!
Death is a bit less permanent in the Zelda franchise. The story in Zelda II, iirc, is that his minions were trying to resurrect Ganon by killing Link.
Hold on to the dream.
Vamphaery Thumbs up just for your passion!
Skyward Sword ➡ Ocarina of Time ➡ Majora's Mask ➡ Twilight Princess ➡ Breath of the Wild
Edit: I was right, I knew it'd be like this.
justandresx Best Timeline ever... period
DFT and AT can't compare to this awesomeness. Someday in the future I'll play the games in that order and it'll be amazing!
I agree. I don't agree with FSA being in the same timeline as TP personally. :F
Then why is it on the CT? :F Then again, Nintendo making the official timeline was obviously a half-assed way to appease us.
Also Aonuma has said that you would replay Twilight Princess, and you would see similarities. And where is TP, the Child Timeline.
There's much better proof than that. Just watch Inotia King's video. He's got some really convincing arguments
@ JP Shu SHumoo - I do not see the video on the timeline theory.
Just look up Inotia King and its the featured video on his channel!
YES FINALLY THANK YOU SOMEONE AGREES WITH CHILD TIMELINE!
Dominic Miller we agree lol
Lol hello there REEBAL
yeah!!
Dominic Miller
OMG
I MADE A POST JUST LIKE YOURS 10 MIN AGO WITHOUT SEEING YOURS
AND WE HAVE THE SAME PROFILE PICTURE
OMG
3croton WHOAAAAAA
I've always thought that this game existed in either the Child Timeline or it's own Timeline, anyway.
been saying it child timeline is where it is.
What if the calamity Gannon is the triforce of power itself taking the form of its previous wielded who although dead still has influence over it
Iampikachu21 u may have a solid theory
Iampikachu21 That would actually make so much sense!
Iampikachu21
*Obama 'mkay' grin*
That would actually be pretty bad ass!
idk if you've seen Princess Mononoke but what you described is similar, in the movie the hatred of the boar manifested into a demon
Luckykuku interestingly Aonuma has cited Princess Mononoke as an important infuence on this game's story and aesthetic.
what. is. up. HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE
Zelda botw is going to be game of the century
ScratTheRat ocarina of time was the game of last century
97K HIT! Thank you all so much! Almost at 100K!
Nice job dude! Keep up the amazing videos!
HMK 96.9k*
I always agree and support you!!!
OMG SOMEONE ACTUALLY AGREES WITH ME!!!!
EVERYONE TRIES PROVING ME WRONG SAYING ITS A WIND WAKER SEQUAL!!
BUT YOU AGREE!!!
THANK YOU HMK!!!!
I agree with most of this. I am getting a little bit tired of DF advocates stealing elements that only existed in other timelines and saying "well there is nothing that says they can't exist in the DF timeline."
That opening was epic
You can also add that the Zora's are reddish JUST like Queen Tutela and the prince from Twilight Princess!
"It is... *ad break*"
I want this game to be in the child timeline the most, I hope you're right!!
Thank you so much! I'm getting even more HYPED for Breath of the Wild thanks to your theories and speculations! Keep making great content HMK :)
Makes sense to me
That trailer music is literally the sickest shit in all of existence. So fucking glorious.
I think it will come after super Mario 64, but before pikmin 2
Hylian Nintendard agreed
Welp.. all my dreams are now destroyed
I don't know ... This could go any way right now. I'm so exited for 3rd march !!! #hyped
WTF THAT INTRO GOT ME PREGNANT
that was exactly where my placement theory ended up when I saw the trailer
I'm getting a switch just to play this and other games
amoore12321 Gaming It's on the Wii U, you know...
Just Know That I Have a Switch THank You for giving me opinions
I had strongly believed that botw would take place in the downfall timeline until I watched this video. You brought up some really strong points to support it being in the child timeline. I'm completely convinced now that it is. Great video and can't wait for you to hit 100k.
im assuming you looked over the castle and the town's close resemblance to twilight princess?
Sure, but the castle is completely destroyed at the end of TP.
Sure it could be rebuilt, but it's worth noting.
Matt Pretty sure we see it rebuilt during the end credits of TP.
He already pointed that out in a previous timeline vid that the destroyed castle town, fountain and banner placement all look very similar if not the exact same as TP.
Edirath X and her over looked links hair and that kind of hair is only in the downfall timeline
I still think it takes place before Zelda 1 or after Zelda 2.
Monokuma downfall(bullshit/filler) timeline sucks balls
Mugiwara no Link People have opinions ya know
Monokuma Definitely not after Zelda 2. The timeline caption is "Hyrule's Decline & Last Hero" Hyrule's Decline is a reference to Zelda 1&2. By that we can assume what last hero means. Now before Zelda 1. Maybe. However the child timeline is more possible
Monokuma nice dangonronpa reference
Monokuma Awesome name/profile pic! :)
I like the points you made. This makes me strongly believe it is in the Child timeline. I am all hype up now.
Hey HMK are you going to showcase the Master Edition of Breath of the Wild for Switch?
I'm satisfied with this result Aonuma even said we'd be having some "oh I see" moments between TP and BoTW plus downfall timeline has been getting all the new games lately, it's like a dumping ground for new titles
The attack from ocarina of time - child timeline didn't happen because link traveled in time to stop it, right?
Nicolas Vignolo but it still did link told the king everything that gonna happen plus he still has his party out piece of the triforce at the end
Notification squad
Walavouchey Stop
Sorry, my hand twitched and I was suddenly watching the video.
But the Temple of Time of TP is more destroyed than the one from BOTW. It's makes no sense
Antonego64 They could've built a new one.
really fucken you think that happend.
the old man is rauru
It's gonna be a timeline combiner. Future Link finds a Delorean and goes back in time to fix the time lines. He also brings with him a sports almanac from the future because in the past the Gerudo, Zora, Goron and Rito tribes each had a casino at the four corners of the world.
how do you explain the temple of time ? that looks like it was exactly from ocarina
The temple of Time of Twilight Princess could have been rebuilt.
Zodrex yeah but if i remember correctly twilight princess's temple of time was different then ocarina's
No, it's the exact same one as OOT
Zodrex hmn alright i gotta look into it again
If you do a map comparison between Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild, you'll find that the Temple of Time is in pretty much the same location.
I'm so glad you mentioned the Triforce issue! You're the first I've seen to talk about this in their timeline theory!
Personally, I still believe that Breath of the Wild may be in the Downfall timeline.
Me too. I mean, Link and Zelda were defeated. What more obvious do you need?
pooftiger They were defeated in the events 100 years ago that led Link to be put in the shrine of resurrection. It has nothing to do with the events of the DF timeline (as far as we know).
That's cause it is and you are smart.
nworder4life Why would TP HD have a mural about events taking place in the DT? Seriously, it's okay to admit you are wrong you know.
Well done!
first
Daniel Nabors No one
inb4 Clamity Ganon will actually be changed to Clamity Demise in the final game revealing that they called it Ganon pre release to throw us all off and it actually takes place after SS
Prove it.
That "Hero" from 10000 years ago could have pulled the sword out it's not that complicated
I agree, especially when I talked to the bartender over at the Canteen in Gerudo town. I quote the bartender Furosa when saying "I can't tell how old you are, but you look a little young to be coming to my shop. You see, we mix special drinks here. Drinks that are definitely just for adults..."
Finally, my most favourite timeline.
this is where I have been placing it for months now.
Ill be happy with whatever timeline it falls in. I personally still hope for the DFT since that has not seen a Home Console release since ALTTP.
I used to be against the idea of the C timeline but now I realized that it us the same timeline TP is in which is my favorite zelda game
Subscribed. Love the fan theory HMK. No matter how the story turns out. I am sure we are going to love it.
Makes a lot of sense to me. Considering how hardcore I'm with the Legend of Zelda franchise, everything that you have said HMK sounds cannon to me.
That said, I still think there's solid evidence of both theories, though I might be leaning more towards your theory now ;)
#RoadTo100K Keep it up!
Feels good that HMK agrees :D
Haven't been able t catch up with your videos lately due to college but time to marathon them!
(and possibly from the adult timeline as well.)
Why?
When I saw this video I actually thought Nintendo confirmed the timeline placement.
I have HUGE hopes for the Child Timeline! I'm so glad I'm not alone with the possibility of the game happening on this Timeline branch!
It actually makes sense and I have a supporting thought regarding your thought on the 4-Swords Adventures Ganon escaping the 4-sword: His body may still be sealed in the 4-sword, but his spirit is able to exit since he's the reincarnation of Demise
I gotta say. I was pretty convinced that this was in the adult timeline. but I think you just convinced me otherwise. Great video!
It obviously takes place after Zelda's Adventure
Haha! XD
Okay this has definitely convinced me paired with something Zelda says in a memory from BotW
THE HYPE IS REAL MY DUDE
Oh My Days.
With Only Another Week To Go The Switch And Breath Of The Wild Is Closer Than Ever. We've All Been Waiting. Everyone. The Time Is Nearly Here To Raise The Master Sword From The Pedestal And Defeat Gannon Once More.
"The memory of the kingdom vanished, but it's legend survived on the wind's *breath*" ;)
I see more evidence to the downfall timeline, but Aonuma has made reference to TP. And there was also that happy mask salesman reference to. So its probably child timelime
just played ocarina of time on the 3DS and i freaking loved it!, cant wait to see more zelda vids HMK
Should keep in mind that future installments could take place between existing games, so where it takes place is still up in the air.
that intro bro...holy shit
WTF THIS IS NOT IN NEW HYRULE, AND THE THREE GAMES IN DOWNFALL TAKE PLACE PRETTY FAST AFTER ONE ANOTHER)
I think you nailed it
I've been thinking - and hoping - child timeline after twilight princess for a while now. Glad to see we agree.
Some counter-arguments:
1. "Gerudo as a tribe don't exist in the downfall timeline"
First of all, the games that predate Ocarina of Time don't really count because the race hadn't been established yet.
2. "Sea Zora only exist in the child timeline"
Other than Oracle of Ages, Link simply never gets the chance to explore the ocean in the downfall timeline.
To add to that, when who we assume is Impa in the trailer talks about the History of Calamity Ganon and the Royal Family, directly relates to the fact that Demise's curse on the Hyrule family and Link and the history it has through all the games post-SS.
awesome! I really want this game to take place in the child timeline, good video HMK keep it up with the good work!
Told you, he has no more body!. He's a ghost now and searches for a new one!. That is why he's building up his power for a new attack on the holy land. He can't do much in this state.
The Sages of Hyrule: doing a shitty job at sealing Ganon for... ever?
Finally someone said it!
