Long ago I once used an old cassette recorder as a preamp. Just jack-in the microphone /monitor for the input, then mechanically engage the record button. The earphone jack served as the output. Worked well. BTW, I also spliced a potentiometer to the motor for a crude speed control so I could make some peculiar recordings.
Oh man... and here's me about to build a pogo cello (aka a "stumpf fiddle") and suddenly realizing that instead of just being an acoustic percussion instrument, it can be a weapon of fuzzed out, delayed sonic mayhem!
This is awesome! I'm definitely building one, thanks for the inspiration. Do you happen to have any recommended links on how to incorporate a reverb etc? I have an artec distortion I'll be adding in for that piece. Cheers!
Do it! You could always mount an old pickup on the surface too and add a simple switch between that and the piezo. Or a blend pot if you’re feeling spicy 😉
@@HOLYISLANDAUDIO YEAH! - I've got some old pick-ups somewhere, defiantly need to try this some how, or just massive springs that you can hit. Do you have any schematics of how a blend circuit would work?
@@unholyaudiochannel There’ll be a bunch of them floating around the web. A jfet clean blend circuit would do it, or the run off groove splitter blend or even some sort of simple active mixer would work well 👍
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ve been giving it a shot and the output seems to be a lot quieter than yours. Any reason you think as to why that is? (I tried running it through a big muff still very quiet)
Hello! Really nice project :) would it be possible to have the vero of the circuit you made for the extended version of the box? TY and have a great weekend
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL, thanks for explaining this. Gonna take advantage of my MX day off holiday (birth of liberal president, Benito Juárez), to experiment!

That’s rad! it’s a great project for a second build, loads of room for modifications too!

Brilliant video mate! Glad you kept your voice over in. No need to worry, it sounded great.
cheers mate! deffo makes editing this kind of thing a lot quicker 👍
@@HOLYISLANDAUDIO yep. My speaking to camera videos are easy and quick to edit compared to pedal ones with text.
I cannot wait to make one. Thanks for sharing this!
No worries! have fun

Love this, i want to make one with Bass strings on it that you hit with a drum stick.

Nosebleed inducing hellnoise. I need this.
Is the enclosed metal or plastic
another well made content, great work!
appreciate it!
what temp did you have the soldering iron
Fantastic, thank you very much!
No worries! Hope you make something fun for yourself :)
I might have to try this one, I could also fill it full of loose screws/scrap metal, couldn't I?
yup!
Thanks a lot.... Which distorsion are you using? Op amp with gain, two transistors fuzz?
this was based on a devi fuzz if I recall correctly!
good🙃💙content
Thank you!
Can you wire more than one piezo into a single output jack?
never tried it but I'd imagine so.
is it possible that if i cant buy a jack socket i could use directly a jack cable and just solder it to the piezzo?
yup
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😘😘
what's the ambient track in the background?
Just some noodling with a Korg Minilogue
@@HOLYISLANDAUDIO It's real nice!
