It’s amazing, that both to them had No clue that people in AI era will watch this, Horowitz looking into the camera is a bit like joining with the current audience, joining with a man born in 1903, when you think about it deeply, it’s just outstanding
Ahhhh, this is the concert that I did not go to because it was too expensive for me as a student (at least that is what I thought at the time). Allways regretted that!!!!!
No doubt that Horowitz was one of the greatest pianists ever. Many times he made people become very emotional and the way he performed was always non-selfish. He always tried to work out the composers ideas/messages and to transfer it to the audience. What I almost didn't and don't like are his arrogant attitudes when he appeared in the public. I don't care who ever it his. People out in the streets, famous actors or presidents.
It is so sad that the interviewer is not up to the task ( he didn’t even understand what Horowitz meant by saying that singing on the piano is the most important thing, he thought Horowitz meant his own voice singing), that it is a torture to watch this. A pity, Horowitz had much to say and would have said with a competent interviewer much more!
The journalist is not up to it... he has one of the best pianist ever but his questions are boring, classic stereotype...he is like a schoolboy. Horowitz tries to make it interesting and safe the journalist from doing nothing.
Poor Volodia. He was a little senile at this point. "I don't like to spend too much time in the United States of America". How embarrassing for him. America was so good to Horowitz despite his many eccentricities.
And that horrible comment .. WTF americanisms? EH FOR THE PEOPLE - BY THE PEOPLE.But you rather make EVERY ONE GRAY. The reversal is the truth Volodia did never, ever owe anything to any 'mericans ..
@@harmendejong4754 temper, temper, lofty! You obviously don't know very much about Horowitz, nor about america. Do I detect a little envy on your part? Tsk, tsk!
@@daviddemers9093 - I'm afraid you are the one who doesn't know anything about Horowitz. He was not 'senile' at all. If the interview had been in French or Russian, you would never have made that ignorant comment. Horowitz' command of the English language was just very poor throughout his life, which affected the quality of most of his interviews quite a lot. You are obviously not an expert, so you can stop being condescending towards other people now, unless of course you wish to continue being an immature RUclips troll.
"This will only be shown on Dutch TV" - until RUclips comes along 30 years later.
"The people who criticize suffer more than the performer." Amazing.
"I like silence more than applause." Horowitz was a wise man.
Horowitz was pretty funny. At his age here, he has such a youthful happy personality.

1:44 I love his sense of humour so much
his playing style of that end piece by Schubert is amazingly nineteenth century.
Thanks for sharing! What a personality!!
The Schubert at the end rings like church bells
Thank you for uploading.

Timeless 🙏🏼
A well prepared reporter might face asked, “Why have you never recorded Rachmaninoffs Second Concerto?”
Fr! He played it but it was never recorded 🤦♂️
Fascinating .
Perfect
He hates coughing 😂
2:56 little did he know....

Schubert Impromptu op.90 number 3 !

Military secret - wow, it's literally a translated russian idiom, военная тайна!
My god, he was such a child! 😂🤣

Exactly
A rather crass interviewer.

That was precisely the best and the funniest moment in the interview
He was joking around and was obvious by the face he made afterwards.
