  • I often get asked for demonstrations of Park Assist on the VW California range. While I'm doing this demo and explanation on a VW Caravelle, the same technology applies to all of the California range if you have Park Assist on your vehicle.
I'll show you how to turn Park Assist on, what to do when your Park Assist finds a space, and just how easy it is to park when you are using Park Assist!
This is a standard feature on the California Ocean T6.1 so it's definitely worth learning how to use this feature as it could save you some headaches with tighter spaces than you're comfortable with.
Let me know what you think - do you have any tips and tricks for when you're using Park Assist? Let me know in the comments.
    Thanks for watching. California Chris.

Considering this as an option. Can it bay park or is it just for parallel parking?

I love my 8 month old T6.1 SE with the front and rear parking sensors and reversing camera. Not sure if park assist is available for the T6.1 but it would be a useful option as it’s such a big vehicle. I’d love to see an on street demo of park assist. Thanks.

Wow, like that. Added this as an extra on my VW Grand 60 order. I hope your getting a bonus for these great videos Chris, So my motor is 6.8 meters, would it fit in a space of 7.5 meters. What is the space required to park a 600 or 680 long campervan using this technology?

Hi Chris. Does park assist work to reverse you into a longitudinal space (bumper to kerb) as well as a parallel space?

can also get you out of a space.. and you get the wrap around sensors displayed on the screen.

I get the technology is great, but what happens when it goes wrong?. At some point, (it may not have happened yet) the technology will fail and you'll crash into a parked vehicle. So, who's to blame???. The vehicle manufacturer who's technology has failed, or the driver who at the end of the day is responsible for the control of the vehicle........

I think the main thing to consider is that the driver has full control of the speed of the vehicle while this technology is in use. You can choose to be moving at a very slow speed. Then there's the parking sensors that are still all working and informing you of your surroundings. The main thing that the Park Assist tech is doing is turning the wheel for you, other than that it's just normal parking. So, the driver is still fully responsible for the control of the vehicle and can choose to disengage Park Assist at any time. If the driver feels that something is going wrong, or about to go wrong, they should disengage Park Assist.
