One thing I've noticed is most other versions of this song (including the music video), there's always something humorous and comical about the performance. In most other versions, Nick is usually having fun and being a bit silly. Those versions are enjoyable but this performance seems heavier. It seems like he's expressing true emotional pain and spiritual lethargy. It's a beautiful performance. Truly haunting.
