Hey George, really enjoying your videos! It would be really useful for me (and I'm sure others) if you could run through what exactly you bought from stepcraft (add-ons, upgrades, software etc.) but also what extra equipment you needed to buy in order to run the cnc (like the air compressor). I'm looking at buying an M.1000 and could do with knowing exactly what is needed, equipment wise, to get the thing going. Thanks a lot. Looking forward to seeing more videos 🙌 Tom.
I upgraded all the motors, the spindle, and lead screws. Then I added the tool changer, and the vacuum table, I have some video content on that that I just shot today and will be out shortly.
I have the same problem here in the Phoenix East Valley area. During the summer, my garage serves absolutely no purpose other than parking our cars inside and storage. Other than that, it's absolutely unusable to do any kind of work in, because it often gets up to around 120 degrees. I purchased for around $600 one of those freestanding AC units that you just vent into the attic or out a window, ran flexible duct work into the attic above my garage, and was so excited to finally be able to use my garage for projects. The AC unit made absolutely ZERO difference in the temperate, so I ended up sending it back. I've just come to accept that 7 months out of the year, my garage is off limits to doing any woodworking.
Know that good things will happen to good people.... you can have anything you want. You just can not have everything you want at the same time.... Thank you for the very nice comment.
@Gabe Lackman There are many options that will give great results. I am not a wood working craftsman yet, but I do have some artistic experience at the professional level in jewelry. You get what you pay for with tools is my opinion, but as Lee Trevino said to someone "I can take a coke bottle and tie it to a stick and beat you on any 18 hole course in the word. Starting with good tools never really hurts if you can afford them and you are committed. But I have seen some incredible things made with very basic tools.
Well I`ve been binge watching your videos today ...and that was my first moment of pause. It took you three months to get your machine, holy cow!?!? Covid has everything in the world turned upside down I get it, but man ...that might be a problem for me. I`m awaiting a quote from Stepcraft today or tomorrow, and I`m really hoping that isn`t still the case. Keep the videos coming, they`re very much appreciated! Best to you and yours from St. Augustine, Florida!
Thank you for the positive feed back. I am going to have another video in a few days to share some of the mistakes I have made while making projects and learning the system...
I would love to get into this. I am 73 and a long time woodworker, but short on computer skills. What scares me most is the computer and software challenge. Just do not know if I could ever master that part of it,
Hey George. I’ve enjoyed your videos and just pulled the trigger on an M1000 myself. Haven’t received it yet. You may have said in other videos but I can’t remember if you have already told us what software are you using? Do you like what you are using? Is it user friendly? What are your thoughts after using for a while? Thanks. J
I did a video on that... I have got to put these videos in and easier to find system on my channel. Stepcraft sold me Vetric Vcarve Pro and Uccnc as the driver. It is not easy but I am getting used to it.
Very interesting thank you! Stepcraft is nice with good design but it is really not a highend machine. It’s more a ok Hobby Maschine that is not so powerful…
I would consider the Stepcraft M1000 a ProSumer to professional model. If you go up one more level to the Q series it is clearly a PRO machine. Thank you for the comment, everyone needs to get the right tool for the job, anything that inspires research is good... Cheers Brother.
@@GeorgeKennerLaser the q series is. Indeed. I tried the Stepcraft m Series and it is better than a FoxAlien cnc, even the Vasto line but still not very rigid for metal. Woods no Problem but even on aluminium it is not so good… a Sorotec Maschine even a basic line is much more rigid… buy a Alu line and we can start talking about highend in this size… price doubled…
@@chrisr1241 Again thank you for the comment. If there is anything my friends say about me, I am honest. I have not used the M1000 on metal, I only wanted it for wood. You bring up good points and I advise others to look at your product suggestions. I am old school to me this is about getting the right tool for the job. Sometimes a Harbor Freight tool is the right tool Cheers Bro.... and always feel free to comment or add to my videos... I have some more Stepcraft content on the way.
Well done again George
Have content for 3 more helpful videos on the way.
Thank you Sr. you has helped me to dare.
I try an do a video every week to show progress... it is a learning curve.... more next week!

Good luck setting up the machine :- )
Wow so amazing!
Can tool exchange system work together with vacum table?
Sure can...
@GeorgeKennerLaser it reduces work area?

I purchased a Mini Split, it required 220 electrical and I can work all year long. It is even a heater in the winter. It is like a 2 Ton Unit.
Oh my I’d love to be in your situation, I just couldn’t afford all that gear, but will continue to watch your videos, they’re really addictive

Your voice has a harmonious similarity to Casey Kasem, great video!
thank you , not sure that Casey would agree...😅

You should get a son or grandson to the game. Most of it is a computer game.

Buen trabajo.
Muchos Gracis!
just a little thing, the music at the end is too loud compared to the rest of the video
