This pressure cooker is amazing: it operates 3 to 4 safety pressure release mechanism if left unattended during heat up.
That ball bearing rubber knob is one, which needs to be cleaned every time or else it won’t close.
The lid gasket also can rupture to release pressure, the lid has an opening on the opposite side from the locking mechanism.
The piston which indicates the pressure also can release pressure on the extreme to protect the integrity of the pot.
I really like mine, 10+ years old now… I even bought a new gasket just in case and I haven’t needed it.
I have operated a Royal Prestige, and the electric ones everybody loves. I prefer my WMF

Hey! this video helped me a lot! one question, to release steam from the pot do you just use the handle? or can i also press on the circle thing that goes up (the thing on the handle that goes up)

I open the lock halfway to release the steam. Then, a few seconds later, I open the lock fully to let out the rest of the steam. I don’t touch the circle knob on top of the lid

The product is a piece of junk: I bought one 4.5 liter from CoolBlue in Belgium, used it only 4 or 5 times before discovering the lid is locked and cannot be open anymore. The lids sliding knob is not moving down to unlock. The WMF service is of no use.
Junk german made, 150 euro goes to trash.

Uhh, this is why some people shouldn’t operate heavy machinery 😂
The piston which indicate pressure locks the lid closed… only when the piston is at the bottom “no pressure” position the release switch will unlock the lid.
If it doesn’t go down by itself when no pressure remains, pushing it with your fingers will do the trick.
Washing is required for every pressure cooker
