Fun fact: UN Village (pronounced like U.N. Village -- like United Nations -- UN. Not unvillage.) is a real place in Korea, it's a ritzy, trendy neighborhood in Korea where some of the top celebrities and idols live. For example, some of the members of BigBang have, or used to have, apartments in UN Village. The area is known for its cool architecture and landscapes and I think some of this MV was either shot in UN Village or, at the very least, the sets were meant to emulate the look of UN Village. So Baekhyun has said that the song is supposed to make listens feel like they want to take their date to UN Village and wander through the streets and buildings while whispering words of love in their ear, etc.
"UN Village" and this album City Lights is Baekhyun's solo debut. He kind of surprised all of us with this one. Before the song was released, we all were trying to guess what kind of style and sound his first album was going to have. And, although this style totally makes sense for him, I don't think many were anticipating it would be quite this soulful.
Also, as a member of EXO, Baekhyun's superpower is the ability to control light. So, although "UN Village" is a love song and he is singing to and about a girl and about her light, the lyrics are also referencing the fact that his superpower is the ability to control light. The lyrics have a double meaning -- it's about love, but it's also about how he can literally turn off the street lights with his powers. That is why this MV has so many references to spotlights and shadows and light and dark and why you see the shadow of lamps with bare light bulbs, and why it's in black and white, etc. It all has to do with the fact that he is a member of EXO and he can control light. Hence, one reason why the album is called City Lights, which obviously also references his power. LOL
As with almost everything EXO does, the red light is thought to represent the Red Force and blue represents EXO. So the scenes that are red could be instances where the Red Force is in control and the scenes in blue are when Baekhyun has the upper hand.
Also take note of the giant map he is looking at hanging on the wall in this MV. When you eventually get to watch EXO-CBX's MV for their song "Horololo," you will see what many think is that same map hanging on the wall in the office CBX are in the "Horololo" MV.
Everything EXO does is connected to the group's concept and storyline. This song and MV is an example of how even EXO's solo projects are part of the story -- even as soloists, they can't escape the fact that they are members of EXO.
So, "UN Village" and City Lights is supposed to have an evening theme and "Candy" and Delight, his follow up song and album, is supposed to be daytime/daylight. It all is meant to play off of each other. :D The two albums are as different as night and day.

EXO are not just R&B kings but also Ballad kings. I don't know if you like ballads but you should definitely give it a try. They are famous for winter songs. Check out their 'Universe' MV and 'Been through' which is an underrated gem. ❤️❤️❤️

They are well respected for the career they built, especially because when they debuted they were called "the flop product from SM Entertainment" by the industry and shitty fans of other groups, and they proved that's shitt
Exo shocked everyone with their unique concept that not a lot appreciated. Went on hiatus for a year right after debuting and blew everyone's mind and dropped the nation's anthem Growl which are still covered up to now😂 it's amazing how the company won't promote them in the West but still be one of the top groups among those who are heavily promoted. Relevant and multitalented Kings indeed

Sweet Lies is one of my favorites. There is a live performance in Seoul that I believe does not get blocked. I have seen many react to it. The lyrics video is fantastic, and the live is even better!!!!! The vibe is unmatched!!!!!!!!

Baekhyun is R&B King. He has lot of solo performances. He won Best Male solo artists two years in a row. His Delight album sold one million copies. Check his City Lights and Delight albums. They are masterpiece. And he released Japanese album too.
Baekhyun literally best soloist! And called Genius idol. He won Male solo on MAMA Awards in 2019,2020. Won several times Bonsang(important award) for digital positions, for physical sales. Was one of those who won album of the year(2020) for albums sales.
He is the 1st Million seller soloist in Korea after 20 years!! And with just 1 mini album. Combining his two korean solo albums it's already around 2m. (albums are- "City lights" and "Delight". Plus in Jan 2021 his debut Japan album was released - "BAEKHYUN" which is self titled)
He can slay every genre.
The strongest points of EXO is theirs b side tracks in the album that have so much diversities, they can go through any genres and make it works!!. Also they are the real performers! Must watch theirs concerts as well. For these two points for me. No one can beats them yet. NOT EVEN CLOSE! 👌🏻

EXO ballads and Winter albums are LEGENDARY. Among those songs that have an MV (b sides don’t), there’s Miracles in December, Sing for You, For Life, but the queen, my favorite is Universe. You can find live videos of any song by EXO, real jewels since they are better live, but your reaction could get blocked. Especially if the video was taken at a Japanese concert venue.

Baek is the master of RnB and jazzy songs. His vocal is very angelic and smooth. He and high note are best friends! I wanna recommend "Amusement Park" by Baekhyun! yep you're right. hamnam-dong (a suburb) is like hollywood, and U.N. village (united nations village) is beverly hills, a disgustingly expensive gated villa atop ridges of hills that not only have a clear view of the city river (which is pretty much imposible considering how crowded the capital city is) but also a clear view of the nearby mountains (hence the lyrics 'rolling rolling hills') tons of famous, rich and distinguished (like politicians) people live there
