    The only problem I have with ALL certifications is that the lifespan is too short. Almost all certification have a lifespan of 3-years which REALLY sucks if a person has many certs.
    time flies and it seems that every time you blink you have to re-certify. Lately I've been hesitant on getting any more certifications because I would spend most my life
    having to constantly be worrying about re-certifications..... I currently hold 9 certifications in many areas, and I am seriously thinking of not recertifying.
    It seems I like I got them yesterday. Its crazy. I think Certifications should last 5 years to get some damn breathing room to live.

    • @IAMDINUTH
      @IAMDINUTH  3 года назад +2

      That’s true and I’m also experiencing the same issue. Most of the technologies are rapidly changing. Based on that certification providers are defining the exam validity period. Agree or disagree; we need to adhere to that.

    • @lhxperimental
      @lhxperimental 2 года назад +3

      Certifications hold value on your resume even after they expire. You don't lose knowledge when the certificate expires. A sane person would assume that if you were certified in something many years ago and have worked on the technology for so many years (even if that's not all you work with), your experience has more value than any certificate.

      @IAMDINUTH  3 года назад +1

      Thank you Khan.
      Before hearing what others says about it try it by yourself. I don’t see anything tricky there.
      Cluster can be a kubeadm based cluster or a cluster created in the hard way. Certificates might not be in default locations. So where to look for certificate and endpoint may change. Endpoints can also be different. So beware. You can check the cli help of etcdctl snapshot restore command to find the parameters to be passed.
      Try this multiple times. It would never be hard.

    2. Can we find a pod with label and top cpu consumed pod as an output to a file

    • @IAMDINUTH

      1. Pod can have multiple containers with different images. Check multi container pods video (ruclips.net/video/6G7eaA7-RFA/видео.html)
      2. You don’t need to do this in a single command. In the exam you can find the pod name with highest cpu by executing

    Hi Dinuth, Thanks for the wonderful tips. I am a beginner to K8s, is CKA would be ideal path for me to get hands-on and have good knowledge on K8s ? What are your tips for a beginner in CKA ?

    • @IAMDINUTH
      @IAMDINUTH  3 года назад +3

      Exam complexity increases from CKAD < CKA < CKS. Beginner can start with CKAD. CKAD and CKA has around ~80% overlap in curriculum. So you can do CKAD first. Then with little effort covering the remaining 20% you can do CKA.

      @IAMDINUTH  3 года назад

      @@roshansharma3438 That’s true. Everyone is looking for experience. If the experience is not there are few things that you can do to show your expertise.
      1. Get yourself certified with CKA, CKAD, CKS. At least one. You should follow the exam materials not just to pass the exam, but to learn every nut and bolt of Kubernetes. If possible try to reach above 90% in these certifications.
      2. Outside the exam topics, you need to read what is happening in this domain. Read and watch news, articles, blog posts, best practices, security and more.
      3. Write your own articles in LinkedIn or Medium. If you are doing some tryouts, add them to your github and share with community. During the interviews when you are answering the questions take few of them as a reference.
      4. There are lot of common K8S interview questions that you can find out with a simple google search. Go through them and make sure you are prepared.
      5. Show your confidence during the interview. Don’t give one liner answers. Always explain the concept or the configurations with details. Take every question as an opportunity to show your knowledge.

    • @IAMDINUTH

      I cannot share any exam questions due to NDA signed when taking the exam. Broken clusters, broken nodes, broken applications are very common. You will not get anything beyond the sub bullet points defined under troubleshooting. Shared course materials has enough coverage in all domains including troubleshooting. Do KodeKloud tests again and again until you are fully confident on all areas. At the end everything depends on how experienced you are in solving real issues with practice, practice and practice.

    Thanks for sharing your experience! How to you open more than 1 terminal during the test?

    • @IAMDINUTH
      @IAMDINUTH  2 года назад

      You don’t need to open multiple terminals. You will be working on a single cluster at a time. One terminal is enough. Use notepad feature if you want to keep some notes for references.

    Do we get the questions on SSL or TLS certificates in cka exam ???

    • @IAMDINUTH
      @IAMDINUTH  2 года назад +1

      It is recommended to go through Kubernetes the Hard way setup step by step and understand every step. Which will give you a good understanding on TLS certificates and the usage of that in Kubernetes clusters. But you will not be asked to setup clusters in the hard way. But would be useful in troubleshooting questions.
      Further you need to know the TLS cert and keys in kubeconfig and how to use them to make API calls to api-server.
      If you are asking the question about Kubernetes TLS secrets, yes you better know it how to create TLS typed secrets too.

      @@IAMDINUTH thanks for the swift response. No I'm asking about the certificates itself not the secrets, I'm feeling them tough the TLS certificates generating them it is totally confusing 🥺🥺🥺😶.
      Thanks for the reply bro...!

      I haven’t seen any questions in the exam asking you to create certificates. But even though they asked you don’t need to worry.
      You are allowed to go through Kubernetes documentation during the exam. Important links and your week areas related documentation pages can be bookmarked and use it during the exam. Check below link and understand it. No need to memorize. If a question asked on this topic open the link copy commands and perform the task. Simple.

    This certifications will helps to get which job roles ?

    • @IAMDINUTH
      @IAMDINUTH  3 года назад +1

      Applications deploy to servers directly is becoming outdated. Latest trend in most of the enterprises is to modernise their existing applications to deploy as containers. Further most of the greenfield/new apps are tends to deploy as containers considering many benefits comes with containerization. So current job market to container orchestration tool such as Kubernetes is very high. Simply search for Kubernetes jobs in google. You can find out more details.

    Do we need to edit etcd yaml file to data-dir with restored location in exam?? If yes there will be cluster mentioned??

    • @IAMDINUTH
      @IAMDINUTH  3 года назад

      It is depending on the exam question. If the question is asking to restore to a different location, you need to make sure configs a pointing to the new location. If the question is just asking to restore without referring to the destination location, you have the flexibility to restore to the same data location or a different location with config changes.
