Great knot all season but its fantastic when its really cold. Easy to tie with a pair of hackle pliers. Takes the frozen fingers out of the process.

How does it compare to my beloved Orvis knot?
Davy Knot is definitely for smaller flies, where your tippet is much thinner. Nothing's worse than a big knot on a tiny delicate fly
How is the strength compared to a conch knot?
Doesn't have the strength of the improved clinch knot in my opinion
