  • Octopus and Cucumber Japanese Salad which called タコの酢の物 Tako no Suno-mono. It is a small salad and popular food in Japan. When you go to a Japanese Izakaya or tapas bar, there are usually have it. You need to buy Sashimi-grade Octopus. I like to eat Octopus this way rather than regular sashimi.
    Ingredients:
    Sashimi Grade Octopus 150g/5.3oz
    English Cucumber 1/2
    Wakame (Option)
    Sugar 2TBS
    Rice Vinegar 3TBS
    Soy Sauce (recommended Usukuchi soy sauce) 1TBS
    Salt

    Hello from Mazatlán Mexico! There is only one Asian grocery store here to buy things. Please, can you recommend alternative ingredients for your recipes? Thank you. The octopus is sold here fresh.

      You do not need to use seaweeds, so if you cannot get seaweeds, do not use them. However, you have to treat octopus sashimi-grade before make this dish. I cannot access fresh octopus here, so I cannot show you how to treat fresh octopus to sashimi-grade octopus.
