If you don’t eat pork, I recommend using chicken. Sake helps tenderize the meat and take away the smell, but if you don't have sake, you can use other alcohols without strong flavors, or even water if alcohol isn't your thing!😊

Here is a story about Kakuni, I tried to cook according to your recipe, but when I had to mix sugar, soy sauce and sake, I completely forgot about sugar and soy sauce. As a result, I ended up in the police department for indecent acts in a public place.
is there any other option other than sake or alcohol? and can i use beef instead chicken?

Moe-san truly is such a wonderful mother. Instead of getting mad at Sutan or yelling at her for being upset that she didn't get to peel an egg, Moe-san appolagize and acknowledged her feelings. "I didn't realize you wanted to peel the egg so badly, I did it with out thinking. I'm sorry Sutan". Just so wonderful, and kind ❤️

Sutan is so cute! She’s so sweet and she was so kind to think about Moe getting the pillows in from the rain, and also making sure that she is being safe in the kitchen. She’s a little boss😉😁 The pork looked so delicious.

This is my favourite dish! Can I just say I love how she practices gentle parenting so well with Sutan ❤️ Instead of scolding her for crying, she let her cry and even saved her an egg to peel because she knew how much Sutan loves to peel eggs.

I broke out laughter when I saw Sutan crying over the egg peeling - that’s soooo relatable! My little one does exactly the same thing, even the crying patterns are the same lol! I love this channel and I’m falling in love with Japanese home cooking! Ever since I bought donabe from kimono mom, I watch this channel before going for grocery shopping in a Japanese market near me, and I learned to appreciate the authentic flavor with simplest cooking process =)

I grew up eating braised pork belly with eggs too! I’m Vietnamese and we make a dish called Thit Kho, and it’s made with almost the same exact yet similar ingredients. Can’t wait to see more videos Moe and Sutan!
I think it's funny and great that we share common dishes in Asian cultures. In fact we also have a similar dish in Lao cooking called thom khem.
It's called Dong Po Rou in chinese cooking!
I mean, it's pork belly and eggs. What is there to NOT love. 🤤

How is it wonderful that you reward your child for a wrong behaviour? She knows exactly if she cries she gets what she wants, have fun later when she is grown up.

That is not wonderful at all... crying and getting what you want is such a bad behavior to grow your child with. She had to tell her that it is not a disaster and next time she will peel the egg, get over it...
We always make this in huge pots and huge portions at home (I grew up in Taiwan.) It's nice to see a faster, smaller portion that's just as yummy! Also love the chive sauce and need to try making it at home -- love pairing that with barbecued meat!
Aww I love Sutan, when she cries it makes me cry too lol😢😂. I'm glad she got to peel her egg afterall. She loves helping her Mama so much 💕
It was refreshing to see you with Louis-san in your new office. The colour came out beautifully. Watching Sutan reminds me of all our little moments (sporadic tantrums and happiness) that we took for granted at her age. That meal is a must. I've never seen a kid so eager to help out in the kitchen, and eat most vegetables raw without any dressing! Sutan is just precious!
Some of her animations are classic. I love the thumbs up…the facial expressions…when she chases pigeons her tiny little feet … just so cute. Of course I assume you have to do a lot of editing. I can tell she is like every other child in the world… she can be fussy, pout, cry etc. As a man that loves delicious foods… her appetite never goes away. She is highly food motivated
Love seeing sutan smile, it reminds me so much of my nieces. When dont get to spend time with my niece and nephew because of work i watch your videos and it helps ease the lonely feeling till i see them again. Talking on phone or getting pics/videos of them helps but uncle loves spending time with them

Honestly, pork belly is the best thing you will ever taste! I 100% recommend trying it at least once in your life!!
This is so much similar to one of our popular dish in the Philippines specially the Visayas Region. Here, we call it "humba". The main ingredients are pork, vinegar, soy sauce and sugar. Very similar to your way of cooking. And sometimes we also put boiled eggs! The dish is sweet, salty and savoury. Very common dish during special occasions. 😄😄

This is a favorite on mine as well. I eat this at the Izakaya all the time but I want to make it. Love the idea of using the rice water to tenderize the meat and get rid of the pork smell. Great ideas here~ Thank you~

If you saute it with garlic, onions then add bay leaf its already a dish name “Adobo” which very popular dish in the Philippines, braise pork and adobo is quite similar taste 😊

I made this today from another channel and it was very good, but they had me use Hon dashi, I think I will try it your way next time. I feel like it should be more of a sweet and savory dish and the Hon dashi just didn't real melt into the flavors. And your assistant is the cutest!

It's interesting how every Asian country has their own version of braised pork. Vietnamese style doesn't use sake and instead uses coconut water.
