What made me a fan of these guys is not just the awesome music, but how much fun they have when playing their music.
So my Dad says, "wanna go see the old 97s?" Sure I say. So i go to check them out since I'm not familiar with them. And now after all the posts about seeing them live, I am genuinely excited about my evening. Good times
I hope this experience gave you a newfound respect and well-deserved appreciation for your dad.

the line during the intro about starting the band with the notion they had no chance of commercial success is perfect. trying to be something musically, you'll probably end up being nothing. just write and let it happen.

They've been playing together since the early '90s and have been playing this song together sing the mid-late '90s.
You could wake one of them out of a coma and get the other off of scientific experiment researching the effect of hallucinogens and they would be the tightest duo you'd see all year.
