About this video: In this video, we share insights into living in Greece as expats. You'll see the beauty of the island while we answer common questions about why we moved to Greece and our experiences as foreigners living in Crete, Greece. We discuss how we settled in and the challenges we faced moving to Greece. You'll learn about our lifestyle in Greece and how we integrated into the local community. We also share what surprised us most about living here in Greece. We hope you find inspiration and helpful tips if you're planning to visit or move to Greece in the future.
Remember, Greece is a cradle if all civilization. They introduced Democracy to world, surgery and sirgicsl tools and many, many other things we don't even think about today. Why it should be any different now??? Because Greece went through economic crisis? They shaped up? People stayed the same as before. I LOVE Greece from the bottom of my heart.
You are right! We LOVE GREECE as well 😍 ❤️
modern greeks and the ancient ones are completely different culturally. Too many civilisation have occupied Greeks through the centuries. Things have changed.
But more than all this they gave us Spanikopita....
Greece is in the soul of every human. You just have to visit the country to realise it!
❤️❤️💙💙
How wonderful i lived in Greece for more than 10years, sadly i couldnt make it work any longer finally. Best of luck! I will always have a big love for the country and the people.
Thank you!🥰💙🙏 Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out. There are definitely struggles and disadvantages, especially financially. 😔
So happy for your positive experience living in Greece, guys 🧡
Yes. Having less is having more.
Thank you for your support 💙💙
The best place to live! Thank you for your kind words. I strongly believe Greece is a blessed place!
It really is! 💙🇬🇷
I got in ur videos by "accident" ! I admire u guys! I cant even imagine leaving my close ones my country my stability! I always dreamed of moving in australia but it will stay as a dream in my mind definitely 😂😂😂 i wish ur good opinion about greece overall will stay like this !!!
Thank you very much for watching us 💙💙🙏🤗. Why to Australia 🇦🇺?
Congrats, or Bravo as they like to say in Greece, on your move!
We were in Greece 2 months last spring and loved it! As a semi retired couple in our early 60’s We will return this fall for another 2-3 months and decide if we want to spend enough money in real estate to get a golden visa OR simply spend 3 months each year there soaking up the sunshine. Like you, sunshine is very important for my emotional/physical health. Have you been to the mountains of Crete yet? There’s a wonderful family farm/restaurant that is simply amazing to have dinner at. Wild Herbs of Crete is another fun little gem tucked into the mountains that is a must visit in my opinion! Perhaps we will meet in the fall❣️
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching! 🙏
Also, thanks for the recommendations, will definitely check them out! ❤️
If you come to Crete, send us an email! We will be happy to meet you guys!
So glad to hear you are enjoying your time here!
We are enjoying every day here 🇬🇷 ❤️
I'm happy for you guys🥰
Thank you, dear brother 🙏 ❤️ 💙💙💙
Well come my neighbors. Great video.
Thank you!💙 It was great to meet you!
Here's the link to the starting point of the trail to Katholiko Gorge we went to.

Glad you like it living here in Greece. A piece of advice. If you haven't already done so, which you should have done by now, get in touch with a good tax accountant, preferably one who is experienced in dealing with ex-pats, to help you sort out your tax declarations and social security situation otherwise you might be in for nasty surprises in the medium term. Also, if you're still driving your foreign license plate car, you should look into sorting this out at some point, since technically you are not allowed to use a foreign registered car for more than six months if you are a permanent resident.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for your tips 🙏 😊 ☺️
well done guys! I am happy for you!
Thank you very much 😊 🙏
Great video guys, you're our new top vloggers for Greece atm ☺ !Looking forward to doing something similar as we have many similarities with you! Enjoy and keep up the fun videos 😄
Thank you very much 😊 🙏 ❤️❤️. We hope you succeed 🙏. Do you want to move in 🇬🇷?
@@Sunpire Yes!! To the land of kalitsounia & dakos, if you're familiar with that haha 😛😄😎
@karinaa7686 I think that is Greece, right? 😂😂😂. But where about in Greece?
@@Sunpire Yess!! In Crete haha 😆 you must try those foods! Kalitsounia can be found in bakeries and dakos in restaurants! You will love both!!🙂
We'll definitely try them! ❤️We might even do a video about it, the food here in Crete is fantastic! It deserves to be shared on RUclips! If you have some favourites drop them here, we'll put them on the list.
Iv been thinking about this move for many years and it looks like im going to do the Same !
We were thinking and planning this move for about 1 year. Now that we are looking back, it's all worth it 👌 😀
We are in the process of purchasing a home near Vamos. This video reassured me that we will be okay! Especially as we are a younger couple and meeting new people.
Thank you for watching 💙💙🙏🙏 and good luck !

Thank you very much! We will explore everything and will put all here on the channel 😊
It's nice to enjoy life!!!
It really is ❤️
Consider stop saying ‘foreigner’…to Greeks if you are happy where you’re at then you are where you’re supposed to be and you will be treated well. Simply ask anyone for assistance for anything and you will see what I mean. ‘Others’ to us are people who are not in front of us or in the country. It’s a beautiful part of our culture…if you’re in our ‘house’ you are with us and will be treated at least as well as family. It’s filoxenia - one of our major values. The meaning of this word is to welcome the person who arrives in your home. You’re not a foreigner as long as you’re there.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate it!❤️🙏
We feel very welcomed here, as you say, greek people treat as loke part of their family. We're extremely grateful for this!
We use the word "Foreigners " for more clarity in the topic of the video, it's difficult to capture the essence of a video in a few words. We just want to make things as simple as possible for the viewers to understand what they're clicking on.😊
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼✝️✝️✝️✝️
We also nag and complain a lot but don't take it seriously. It is a way to de-stress.
Thank you! Good to know
Good luck ..Soon I will move Back Cyprus .london bad.now.greek its easy you learn.cyprus its nice for you know.better economic
Thank you 😊🙏 London is hard...
I love you guys voice .

Welcome to Greece....
If Greece is the country of God's i think its perfect to you too us well.😂
You both seems good persons to me so I hope to stay here and at some point to grow your family here us well....
Thank you very much for watching us and for your kind words 🩵💙🩵💙🩵💙🩵💙 🙏 😊
Where are you living now ? …. Where in Greece? I think do get moved in Athens 😊
We are in Crete!💙🇬🇷
Where are you watching from?😊
@@Sunpire I am in DERBY UK / but soon I will go back to in Greece 🇬🇷 I love Greece . Good choice 👍 the places are amazing … people are very very 👍 nice
If you are a European citizen it's easy to stay. Otherwise you have to buy a property for the gold visa. I think you have to spend minimum half mil
If you are from outside the EU, things are a bit different, a bit difficult, but not impossible 😊.
💙
💙💙
In a few years they will come a lot of people back especially the Greeks who live outside Im sure about this!
Why do you think that? What changed?
@@Sunpire Because I live in Germany and listen to my friends and a lot are thinking about the move to Greece or South Europe or USA or Australia! Life isn't easy in Germany if you have 6 months clouds and rain without sunny days! You get psychological problems in long term especially if you aren't the type of person for that! Wish you all the best Crete is amazing have visit 3 times! Where exactly you living?
We totally get that, after 5 years in the UK, that's why we're here too😅
We're in Chania area, Akrotiri 💙🇬🇷
@@Sunpire Great choice I have friends in Platanias, Chania and visited that area really a place with life quality! I will choose Thessaloniki when I emigrate cause all my family live there!
do you guys work remotely? I have a 5 year goal to build a new house on my father's property in Kefalonia and try to get a job working remotely.
We work online, we're self-employed, offering different services.
Try on the Digital Nomads in Greece group on Facebook. Maybe someone can help you with some leads.
I hope you achieve your goal!🙏
@@Sunpire thanks for the tip! I love all the info you guys are sharing.
Thank you very much 😊 🙏
❤
❤️❤️
When i see you at the door step of your house in the uk + your body language when you were doing your planning ... the whole thing seems like a past nightmare. Greece is messy BUT ... order is only achieved through anarchy ;)
the chaos is organized , just need to be patient
Thank you for watching! 🙏 Yes, you're right, we went through some tough times. It feels like it happened a lifetime ago..
And in case you miss the rain (I doubt it😜) there is always Ioannina in the northwest (my hometown) ... the most rainy town of Greece🫣
@@mlmcbm We won't miss the rain for the next 5 years... 😂😂😂
@@mlmcbm what does it mean to be the most rainy town in Greece?
What are the hospitals like?
Have a look at our channel. We have a video about that.
I hope you turn "Greek" one day and stay in this country forever.
Thank you very much for your kind words 😊 🙏 💙💙
Just have the strength to understand the organised chaos of the greek government and you will be alright but if you live in a small community its much easier...vitamin d which is the vitamin of the sun is crucial for your mental health but try not to get sunburn lol
Thank you for watching 😊. We live in a small community, and you are right. It is easier .
Another video, like hundreds online, directed to those who wish to be self-employed, working from home and online while using the English language. That's more like existing in a foreign country and enjoying a nice lifestyle than actually living there. Not creating a CV, applying for jobs, going to job interviews and interacting with colleagues and managers....all this in the local language.
Everyone is living differently
It's called "crypto-colonialism". enjoy.
Thank you 😊 🙏
