I'm a black man from the south. At times certain things get to me. Around my parents I have to keep all this to myself. Or else they'll ask me "where's your faith in the kingdom?" I'm currently a Jehovah's Witness but there are things don't make anymore.

It was so hard for me when they went "excommunicado" on me, I wasn't prepared for the sudden loss of contact with everyone. I would never wish anyone to go through that. Sitting at a convention thousands in attendance, no one will even say hello to me and if they did I was supposed to say "no, I can't associate because I'm disfellowshipped" or simply shake my head no. And I used to be the guy up in the front, fiddling with the sound systems, being the mic guy, taking parts in dramas, kitchen duty, toilet duty. .. I've been trying to forgive and forget and it is impossible. And it is all because of these men. I get very worked up whenever I see their videos. The hate they taught us to feel for "worldly people" that is all right back at them.

No one has ever been forced to salute the flag in the USA. You don't need to if you are not active duty military. Since the Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in military service they have never been required to salute the flag, here at least. You can do what you like. The Republicans will give you grief, but there isn't a requirement, law or anything else that says that you MUST salute the flag. There never will be because saluting is for military and some youth organizations like the Scout only. You don't like it? Don't do it.

Check out “the compassion problem” & “dogmatic and spiritual religion”, they’re psychology today articles that do a great job of exploring extremist religious groups. One thing I’ve noticed about high control groups (cults) is that they don’t actual care about human wellbeing, they care about upholding a dogma. They have an “ends justify the means” mentality, so no matter how destructive, unhealthy, or unproductive their ideology is, they will continue to defend it because they think it’s the only “right way to live”, even when they’ve never been allowed to actually studied the lives and cultures of other (“worldly”) people or critically analyze their own group. They also don’t seem to understand or see the value and beauty of humanity, it’s all about the dogma.
If Satan's qualities is fighting for unity and unconditional love, count me in 😂 Jehovah sounds horrible if he doesn't want unity and unconditional love.
The main reason is because they don't want their JW followers to get too engrossed /involved in that stuff because learning how to live in harmony with others covers all of that to begin with. Where I come from I remember elders saying it is okay to bribe the officials for permits to build those speedy-built-in-one-day kingdom halls, if you were a JW for example and you had to bribe to get a service as long as you could tie it somehow with "helping spread the truth"...it is okay. 😆

I would think that "love of neighbour" would include trying to alleviate their suffering . The pursuit of "social justice" is just trying to alleviate suffering on a bigger scale. They distributed food provisions. What about Jesus parable of the good Samaritan? That guy was commended by the son of God himself and held up as an example for his Jewish listeners to emulate. Perhaps someone should've poked Jesus and reminded him that guy was a "son of the devil" and his efforts were pointless. Lol. I thought it hypocritical when the speaker talked about the futility of fighting for justice....that it's just like tearing down spiderwebs that soon reappear. Then, why the hell are they always making appeals to the Supreme Court, the European Court of Human Rights and to the UN ? When injustice affects them they fight tooth and nail, often using "dedicated funds" meant for the preaching work. I remember an old battlaxe elder's wife making a WT comment once about "volunteering " and she said something like ...'and the reason that we don't volunteer at soup kitchens and the like is because we spend our time spreading the kingdom message and this will help them a whole lot more than giving them a bowl of soup ". He didn't even acknowledge it! If Jesus is the "head of the congregation" then why aren't they doing as Jesus did? He showed love for his fellow man, fed the hungry and healed the sick. The Bible says that you will know God's people by their Love - and this is an example of the "love" the JWs have. Truly despicable.

I remember an old battlaxe elder's wife making a WT comment once about "volunteering " and she said something like ...'and the reason that we don't volunteer at soup kitchens and the like is because we spend our time spreading the kingdom message and this will help them a whole lot more than giving them a bowl of soup ". Not.
When I was a witness I knew a few battle axes in the congregation myself , and their condescending attitudes about volunteering. I would rather spend a day helping homeless people than go out in service with these narcissistic people.

If Jesus is the "head of the congregation" then why aren't they doing as Jesus did? He showed love for his fellow man, fed the hungry and healed the sick. The Bible says that you will know God's people by their Love - and this is an example of the "love" the JWs have. Truly despicable.
