It is the amp and cab that actually makes the sound you know. Or mby you have an amp and cab for hands. i dunno. A good feeling for playing guitar however relies a lot on the player. If you have an uninspired shitty tone that sounds like 90's black metal with a highpass at 1khz, then you will sound like shit. doesnt matter what guitarist is playing.
Hiya, cool video! Just one thing we want to point to. For crunchy, gritty tones around the tube amp's break up point it is really recommended to do some refining with the guitar after the automatic profiling process. With refining you can tweak the profile additionally towards some frequency range ... cheers!
you will tell the difference of using kemper while jamming with a real band and a loud drum kit, the class d amp in the kemper does not equal a tube amp when it comes to loudness, headroom and performance in high spl. However it sound great for recording and other applications. I wonder if its mother board circuits can be maintained easily as tube amps, other wise, it will be a useless and expensive gear in a few years. Since pcb's dont last as much as analog circuits. I will never spend again in an expensive digital unit.

This is actually not a problem with the kemper... but the recording since the mic is picking up reverb of the room too... while the kemper is direct and don't pick it up. It would have been possible to get it by recording the kemper thought the same cab and SM57, and therefore also get the room reverb. In the other hand, you can always add some reverb on the Kemper too...
I would NEVER use the Kemper with a cabinet. That defies the whole purpose in my opinion... No loss in recording the cabinet, no heavy lifting, volume easy controllable, direct line to in-ear monitoring, etc. Don't forget that the Kemper Profiles the cabinet too. There are some great Reverbs on it, so that wouldn't be a problem!
Paul Davids But that make the comparison biased... What they hear here and base their opinion on is actually not accurate. Of course, the whole purpose of a Kemper could also be to get rid of the Cab and there's also reverb that would solve the problem. Having listen both Kemper and real valve amps in a very nice controlled environnement, I know I can live with the Kemper any day of the week now. But not everyone had this chance to test and compare. And liking the real amp here in the video because there's more "depth", or more "body", or more "reverb" is just biased and due to the recording more than the gear. That's what I wanted to mention. (and again, it's not a negative regarding your recording skills at all, this is just something we have to know before to jump to conclusion).
Kemper and Fractal Axe FX are the best for home studio and recording in small space. Live shows in noisy bars I hear that they are not as powerful but I could be wrong on this.
C'mon people... stop saying "the Kemper sounds digital and has no warmth" I'm sure you couldn't tell the difference in a blindfold challenge. Both amps are great... and it's not magic, of course the Kemper is not a tube amp, but that doesn't mean it can't be as good or better than the complete gear
I would, the real amp has much more bite and warmth than kemper, it´s very clear to hear the differences in the picking, the dynamics are very different.
You are not getting the point... What I mean is that if he played one lick with one amp and one lick with the other one, you couldn't tell which lick was with which amp just by listening. Of course if you're hearing the same lick twice you will tell any minor difference, but only once would be interesting
Super interesting video man! I did a whole bunch of Kemper profiles for my uni major project and found the exact same thing "some loss in the high frequencies". Using a transparent EQ I boosted some high mids and they then matched pretty well and tested it on both casual listeners and musicians. People couldn't tell the difference at that point.
I bought a Kemper, and have never looked back. EVERY amp I want, and not even the cork-sniffers can tell the difference. I have tested it with SO many friends, and half the time they guess right, half the time they guess wrong, and that proves the point for me. Oh, and the delay trails work like they should, unlike the Helix or Axe FX. Thanks for the great demo Paul.
There are tons of different profiles out there for hundreds of different amps. I believe the brown eye has been profiled, and some profiles are available in the Rig Exchange (for free), as well as some higher quality ones in paid packs.
There are some great profiles of the BE and HBE. I totally agree on the delays by the way, that was a huge turn off on the Helix for me. Line 6 is great at creating single sounds, but they're too stuck in that. Having to set up the outputs on every seperate patch and not having a side-chaining noise gate are some other examples. The Kemper and Digitech GSP1101 are great in that respect, very setup-friendly. That said, the Helix UI absolutely trounches everything on the market.
E.G. Systems yes but do you realize where is the key difference? it's in dynamics...in a real amp you really need to know how to play. In a modelling amp there's so much mushy compression any idiot can sound like they know how to play;). I've allways hated modellers, even axe fx 2 etc.It sounds decent but touch dynamics are fake...and the result is it sounds fake. Yes it's easier to play and make people believe you are a good player. Nothing beats a cranked amp that demands you to control it with a solid technique
I’ve been playing guitar and watching local bands up close since the late 60s, so I have a pretty good idea what a real guitar amp should sound like, and I’m not at all impressed by some of digital-sounding modelers out there. But this past weekend I watched another guitarist playing a Les Paul through a Kemper into the PA and I was absolutely blown away. It sang, it soared, it was a beautiful sweet sound with sustain and balls. The minute I got home I started pricing the thing out. (No, it won’t happen soon) I’m thoroughly impressed.
TBH, based on the new kemper videos Chapman made, if you profile heads, and play the kemper into a cab, you get almost indistinguishable difference. And chapper himself said he will tour with that thing to get the tonal variety.
Chappers is 1stly a salesman... Keep that in mind, and in moderation. Try something yourself , and make your choices . Dont get me wrong, Id go for the Kemper myself , but cus I like it , not cus Im having profit from it .
But he has a "partnership" thing going with Victory amps who also made a signature head for him which he used on his tours. If he wanted to sell you the kemper he wouldn't say he will use it for tours as he already is promoting victory as much as possible.
He sells, a lot of stuff... Kemper tends to be a bit expensive , dont u think ? Ever notice all the youtube guitarists getting the free ML1/2 from him, and claiming how it has completely replaced their expensive quality ESPs, Jacksons, even the overpriced Gibsons... But never realy using it outside the videos ? Its marketing, and Rob is a smart man.
Me neither. I’m starting to think the Kemper is the way to go. When you buy one amp, you get that sound. With the Kemper, you could get so many different tones and amp profiles. It’s like buying every amp in your wish list. Which Kemper can you plug straight into a cab?
I've been using my Kemper for a few years now and it actually takes pedals very well to boost semi dirty amp patches. Also, if you use the Kemper live, it sounds and feels much better running it into a powered tube power amp and guitar cab. The tube power amp is what moves the air the way a full tube guitar amp does.
I have a Kemper and lots of nice tube amps. This video helped me verbalise the difference. The Kemper is like watching something in 4k, and the tone king is like watching it in real life. 99.999% of the time you'll never notice the difference. I gig my Kemper exclusively, and quite often record it. The only place a tube amp wins is when you're sitting in a room with it IMO
Super playing, song choices and vibe. Had to subscribe. I switched off all my tube amps a year ago and got a Kemper and went through the time consuming process of sampling my amps and cabs set up in a bunch of different ways I like. Sampling is quick. Tweaking the sound on the samples EVER so slightly to get the bright high’s back in line with what the tube amp gives took 15 - 30 mins per sample. Now, here’s why I only use the Kemper live now: Stereo output via balanced out cables directly to PA and a boatload of authentic pedals allowing just about every OD, Distortion, Reverb, Flange, Whah, Chorus, Phaser, Equalizer and more are all on board the Kemper. The stereo sound of and range coming out of TWO speakers in stereo with only two cables needed for setup made this an instant buy for me. I guarantee you will obsess, and enjoy it. Sorry all, you’ll have to buy the EXPENSIVE remote control pedal for live performance. The great thing about this? You can program a pedal option for every song in your set list(s) and they are all at the ready in seconds (how often do you follow a set list perfectly as planned?). The only bad news: Save lots of money and sell some tube amps (after you profile them). The Kemper is pricy and the “Remote Control” seems even more so based on the fact it just sends commands to grab pre-programmed rigs from the Kemper mother ship. The floor control has a good looper interface too, if that’s in your arsenal.
The TK has a little more mud in it's tone, but the rest is nearly identical, i'd say that the kemper is a really amazing amp, as it can 99% simulate basicly every amp ever made.
Emmm.... 3:26 - why am I hearing that the reverb is in stereo, while cab is miked by 1 microphone? What kind of magic is that? That is not how it should be.
This video was partly why I finally decided to pull the trigger. That was about 4 months ago. Since then, I've used my real amps like twice just for fun? (I have an extensive collection of tube amps, so that's a big deal!) I hardly even use any of my pedals because you just don't need them and all they do is add a tiny bit of noise. Having invested close to $5k in my pedalboard and amps helped me learn what I like... but now my kemper does it all and for a fraction of the price.
I used to play competitive card games, often when a player misinterpreted a card's rule text it was responded to with a rtfc (read the fucking card). This was at least 10 years ago, so this is quite old in some circles
Awesome video, almost impossible to difference them in a blindfold test. There's only one big issue I would like to say: Never use the Kemper directly to the PA on small gigs if that's what you play. You'll be depending 100% on sound tech. I went to a small pub a few weeks ago and the guitarist was doing that. The PA was not great and the sound was terrible, really awful. Probably he didn't have enough time to eq everything when sound checking. Kemper is awesome, but I would use it only with a cab that I'm familiar to. Being lazy to carry a cab an sending it straight to the PA could get really bad, just like I unfortunately witnessed.
In the two years I have had the Kemper my Mesa Boogie hasn't been uncovered. The slight difference in sound is more than compensated by the instant flexibility of amps and expression pedal programmability of the Kemper. I deeply love not getting on my knees to set up effects pedals for one song. My only complaint is the distortion pedal modeling. I still have my two favorite distortion pedals in front of it. Beyond that, my whole pedal collection is as neglected as my Boogie.
Got my kemper stage form my local store for a little less that 1700 Canadian (it had been out on rent for a long time so they reduced the price) Sold my hx stomp Strymon timeline Mission expression pedal And a strymon ouja power supply It’s only been a few days but I haven’t regretted it at all. It’s a magic piece of gear, my suggestion is to find a way to get it, it’s worth it
I have a kemper with a lot of top quality profiles.. i mean a lot. but each time i don't have time for tweaking stettings, your Tone king preset is my good to go profile, it's clear, well balance, and working with all my guitars, seriously it's the one i use 70% of the time for my work. So i would like to thank you for this great job ! Thanks a looott !!!
There is not a huge difference between the two, but when playing open strings, the Tone King sounds more defined because the lower tones get more definition. In the Kemper they tend to mud up the sound a little. But for practicing that is absolutely a great alternative. Besides that, your amp (Tone King) is recorded throug a mike, which could also influence my perception.
i scrolled to the point I couldn't see the video, and to my ears it's practically indistinguishable. and through a live mix it would be the same. and on recording it would be the same. To me anyway
Same here, virtually identical. You really have to nitpick to tell a difference, and at that point they're so minute that any everyday listener would never notice. I think this shows digital has finally reached a point to match tubes, and it's only going to improve through the future
Thank you for your video, the Kemper on some takes sounds as plasticky as I remembered it. Not too bad mind you, but I could feel the differences with my amp of choice straight away and I could never tweak it to perfection, so for recording I ended up sticking with plugins because I didn't find the Kemper worth of the hassle. And plugins can be tweaked until the very last second before going into mixing. BTW I'd like to congratulate with your playing, it is not something I do often but I acknowledge quality when I see it.
There wasn't that much difference in the highs. Sometimes the Kemper sounded brighter, sometimes the Tone King, even during the same phrase. I think that's more to do with the way you were hitting the strings, rather than the amps. I did hear a bit more dynamic range coming from the Tone King, but nothing that would be distinguishable without A/B-ing the two amps.
So close but if you ask me what I really think, I would say when the Kemper played it was like a thin blanket was placed over the speaker. Just a small subtle diminished volume was noted when the Kemper played. Amazing possibilities though in one small package.
Tone match is phenomenal. Well done. Feels like there is a tad of reverb on the Tone King that the Kemper doesn't have here though. Adding that would probably make them indistinguishable. I own a Kemper and play it a lot both live and at home. It's the only digital alternative I've found that I really like for clean and edge of breakup Fender/Marshall.
Reverb and a tad more treble/eq up higher. The Kemper is set warmer but it's freaking astounding how close it is. Why buy an amp ever again? He said it right here: ruclips.net/video/TJ96hClp9JM/видео.html Tweaking the patch just a tad would be indistinguishable. Coming from being a guitarist of the 80's, this tech blows my face off. There would be no limit to how much money the top guitarists would have paid for this technology. The fact its available to us peons is stupifying. Hell, Vai's GSP2101 preamp was $2K alone back in the day and it did nothing compared to the Kemper. Amazing.
My question would be how does the Kemper feel? When you play a good tube amp you can "feel" the notes compress and bloom under your fingers in a very tactile manner that for many of us heightens the overall experience of playing guitar. Sound wise the Kemper seems to do an almost uncanny job of capturing the sound of the Tone King although I'd have to be in the room to be certain it was nailing down all the essential frequencies and didn't sound cold and sterile. Amazing piece of tech either way.
Just about to ask this! I was racking my brain for a couple minutes trying to remember who it was, I could hear Clapton's voice in my mind but it wasn't clicking right away lol
I’m interested in the Kemper for live use. How do cats be hooking this up to sound this good ? Which PA speakers , which power amp with guitar speaker, which FRFR?
I have a Kemper and this is the first video I've heard where I could actually tell a difference. Not a huge one, but I actually preferred the real amp.
People that claim the tube amp is warmer are just using confirmation bias and forgetting how each amp was recorded differently. Kemper is the real deal. I guarantee not a single naysayer would be able to tell what was what in a blind test.
It's hard to say really, I mean really hard actually, some riffs it sounds like the Kemper is brighter, other riffs it sounds like the tone king is brighter, but i definitely hear more thickness with the tube amp, it has more thickness.
@@siriusfun The fact you think you can tell the difference disqualifies you from any further comments. If you can tell the difference in a blind test, I will admit I'm wrong. Until I see that, in my opinion, you're kidding yourself.
Funny how the wave of the future types get to claim that anyone who disagrees is biased but they... well they're not because the healthy mind that sees the future as in every way superior and beyond comparison and indistinguishable isn't biased at all, their opinion is just a true reflection of objective reality, that is to say that they know for a fact what everyone else is able to perceive with their ears. Why? I dunno.. wave of the future! The future is now! Something about luddites. Maybe we should play this for people with synesthesia. See if the colours change for them between the amps. Since most people can't se the colours how can we even say for them what they hear? You don't even hear/see music how they do yet you're absolutely sure anyway.
The Kemper is definitely a great product with lots of ways to use it. That being said it costs $1799 and you'll still need another amp to play it through if you are playing live. I have very many killer sounding tube amps including vintage that cost far far less. Another factor that you can't get in a video is what it's like to play through an amp live. The feeling in the air. Great tube amps seem to create a feeling of air moving (or vibrating) in the room and a good player can hook into that and use it they way a good singer uses their voice. I've never encountered much of that effect with anything solid state. But as a studio tool the Kemper seems to be a big step forward ! If I had the money to buy every cool thing that came out, there's no doubt it would be on the list. In the mean time my friend has one so I will get the chance to work with one. But I'm not parting with my tube amps. ;)
They both sound fantastic and I think it really comes down to what you're trying to get out of each one. I've used both tube amps and the Kemper extensively in live situations and they're both great. We run in-ears and I think that gives a slight advantage to the Kemper as it's more consistent sounding night to night. Like Paul says at the end of the video, with a little tweaking you could get the Kemper even closer to the Tone King. And once you run your rig through front of house and out of a PA into a big room, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who could hear a difference. And since no one's mentioned it, that is a beautiful Haar Tele. I think those are some of the best all around Teles on the market today. Too bad they're so hard to find here in the states. Thanks for a great video Paul!
Great comparison, thank you. To me the Tone Kng sounds so much warmer sounding, but I have to admit that Kemper thing is great at emulating amp tones but its still missing the mojo.
The kemper can replicate a valve amp about 95% with some tweaking you can get much better. ppl who prefer the valve amp need to remeber if you want that "Valve sound" ull need a seperate amp for the different sounds... with the kemper you have evey amp ever made.. which makes these test a no brainer for me
Just like porn and a real woman. You have all the babes you want to masturbate to on the internet, but they are all digital. Why would you have a single real woman? No brainer
Sompn Brurl awful comparison, you still plug into a kemper and a tube amp and play the guitar, the sounds that come out are based on just the unit. Porn is masturbation, real woman is sex which are both different things. Nice try
While the Kemper emulates amps better than any amp simulation I heard, it still looses some dynamics and depth. But this problem I also have if I go with my tube amp into speaker simulations (analog or digital). So, living in a flat having neighbours its for sure an amazing option.
Hadn't heard of the Kemper amp before but I'm really impressed by the overall sound quality. With a little bit of tweaking you'll probably get a sound nobody would ever suspect of not coming from an actual tube amp. Dankjewel!!☺️
the tone king does sound better but the kemper is not that far away from it i wonder what the price difference is between them, because if you are on a budget and the kemper is the affordable one then you shouldnt be dissapointed that you got it
I saw till half and formed an opinion... The high end was clearer and a bit of reverb... Forwarded to the end to hear your opinion. And smack on. You felt the same.and as said , a digital device can be easily tweaked to get the desired end result (if you understand your device), thus making it super versatile. Always amazing to hear you...
I’ve been using a Kemper for years in the studio. Does it sound good enough? Totally. And I’m too lazy to haul my amps up the stairs. But there is a huge difference in feel while playing - even if the audience doesn’t care - and that will keep me using tube amps for a long time.
Once I realized that there was a slight bump in tone as you made the change, I started listening past that and they're very very close. When the change was timed to perfectly with a muted strike as in under the bridge, it was seamless.
Regarding the MINIMAL differences, keep in mind that the tube amp is recorded with a 57 and the kemper was recorded directly. Micing does a lot to the sound.
Harry Pray IV still the kemper was recorded DI, right? in the final test? so... i dont really get your point... i was not talking about the sound itself but more of the way it was captured in this particular example.
I've literally not turned my Kemper rack off in over 5 years. I love it so much I grabbed a stage as well. I sold all my tube amps, except my Soldano for nostalgic reasons....
Saw Naplam Death use one of these. Spoke to the bassist Shane Embry about it and he said it was a godsend. Cut way down on stage and travel real estate and sounded great. Would love to get one of these some day.
I have a Kemper and I love it. I must admit though. In this demonstration the difference which is pretty clear to me is the transient information between the two. The amp has more transients and highs. But as stated in the video, one can tweak the tone... don't know about the transients. Just my two cents.
@@ashkanpower how do you know that? Or is it a joke? Seems like a specific amount unless that’s the amount of the Kemper which seems like the price of the Kemper without the power amp... 🤔
@@jordandangelo180 it was a joke based on reality! Economic is horrible here and many people are willing to sell their kidney. It might be higher than 1.7k, but not alot.
This is good but crystal clean sounds are not really the issue. You can get nice clean sounds going direct . The issue is the complexity of the gain as you turn up.
I think the difference is caused by how the amp has been tweaked (or not) in the kemper as either the definition or clarity knobs, that give the mid high detail this profile has, could be lowered to achieve something more similar.
Kemper sounds brighter, tone king sounds a bit warmer, you just cant beat the tube tone, it has that organic sound, it has life to it, those who are familiar with amps will know what im talking about, both are good, the bad thing about tube amps is, you have to turn them up loud for it to sound good, gotta push those tubes, if you don't then it sounds like pop fizz.
As an audio engineer doing mostly live audio, I say that don’t forget: while we’re talking about whether it’s 95% or 99% there in a direct solo A/B - on a gig in a small space there’s absolute no comparison which is better in audience pit: a too loud (virtually always) overly 200Hz boomy and/or 3kHz peaky real amp or a Kemper that sits beautifully in the mix and gives the audience the full spetrum representation of the guitar with nothing too loud or quiet. Then it’s not a few percent difference - it’s night and day.
crumb, that did a great job profiling your amp. I find the amp has slightly wider freq response but that's it. some takes it sounds pretty identical. overall the amp sounds more like the amp, but the Kemper is pretty spectacular.
I understand people saying real amp is "better". Yeah, but we are living in 2017...Tubes? No, thank you...It's just like we all know WAV is "better" than MP3 but we still listen to MP3
I heard exactly what Paul described, the highs were a little choked on the Kemper, less air and sparkle. Possibly an easy fix as he mentioned, but would that introduce noise?
The only difference I heard was that the Kemper was more 'clicky' IE when you hit your hand down on the fret it was much harsher- i mean this could be as simple as just the attack turned up or down a notch.... I'm super impressed though- I had no idea you could buy something that could do such a thing! Really really cool
For timbre comparison purposes, any small change in EQ and gain reflects directly on the final sound signature. It is important to take this into account, as the adjustment is subjective. Overall, taking this into account, very similar.
Just saw your other video about Tube vs Computer amp. The main diference for me is that the Tube Amp sounds "organic" in both cases. There's a little "imperfection" in tube amps that makes them perfect sounding. Great videos. (hope I can play as well and fluid as you).
Tube, solid state, digital. . .like Allan Holdsworth said, "Who cares as long as you get the sound you want."
Charles Seper Very true.. However, AH sounds like AH regardless of what he is playing or playing through. Tone is in the hands.
_Some_ tone is in the hands.
Holdsy...
I say style is in the hands, but tone is definitely in the equipment.

Only way I can truly tell the difference is the slight reverb on the tone king giving the sound a bit more body!
TheEagleOfTheShadows yeah, just wanted to mention same
TheEagleOfTheShadows agree, maybe my ear is not that developed, but that is the only thing I noticed.
Close enough for me hahaha - great video!

Of course if you're hearing the same lick twice you will tell any minor difference, but only once would be interesting
Super interesting video man!

E.G. Systems can it do the Brown eye 100?
There are tons of different profiles out there for hundreds of different amps. I believe the brown eye has been profiled, and some profiles are available in the Rig Exchange (for free), as well as some higher quality ones in paid packs.
+Doug Clark Michael Brit has done the Brown Eye and to my ears, he does amazing profiles.
I'll take the Kemper. Several amps in one.
Alex Mori But Rob gets nothing out of promoting kemper so what would be his motivation to lie about it
I only use fake amps! Fits my playing much better :)
Omg the legendary Jens Larsen
OoharrharrurrhrhrrrreeeerrrrRRr
Funny man guitarist strikes again, admitting to the world that he doesn’t practice, and smiling about it.
If I close my eyes, there are several cuts I'm not even able to distinguish. The Kemper does what it says it does.
Me neither. I’m starting to think the Kemper is the way to go. When you buy one amp, you get that sound. With the Kemper, you could get so many different tones and amp profiles. It’s like buying every amp in your wish list. Which Kemper can you plug straight into a cab?
Sounds very close, although there's a slightly more round and open 3D sound with the amp.
Hi. I think it is because Kemper has mono reverb in this video, and amp has stereo reverb, as I have heard in my headphones
Well said
you should do more how to play lessons on like, every song ever
Finally, FINALLY someone who does these comparisons way they should be done. Short phrases, many alterations. Thank you sir.
The Tone King does sound a bit more FULL, but I think that the Kemper does a pretty good job.
TheRockstarr33 the tone king has a bit more head room.
Emmm....
3:26 - why am I hearing that the reverb is in stereo, while cab is miked by 1 microphone? What kind of magic is that? That is not how it should be.
Same for me but had to have good cans on to hear it.
If you close your eyes here , you can tell the difference
04:11
when the kemper kicks in it's slightly less bright and hair muted
I guess that with a small adjustment this difference can be solved
@@AlexFrezCorrea Right. Turn up the treble 1db. If that's all the difference then tubes are done for.
And which one was i supposed to prefer? 😆
Does #RTFM stand for Read The Fucking Manual?
GormyGorm usually
This is actually the first time I have heard that phrase/hashtag/saying... I feel very out of the loop lol
GormyGorm I think I heard it a few years ago at work. otherwise I'd just be guessing too.
I used to play competitive card games, often when a player misinterpreted a card's rule text it was responded to with a rtfc (read the fucking card). This was at least 10 years ago, so this is quite old in some circles
Also, Read The Fine Magazine.
I just love your work Paul. An uncoloured analysis and great technique throughout. Thank You - extremely thought provoking.
Thanks so much for playing pop stuff! All the other comparisons and stuff on RUclips are super heavy djent stuff 😂
Ikr it's hard to find youtubers that play real soulful music... We are the majority too!
I like how you did many styles of guitar playing with the strat and then with the tele, great video
What is the song at 2:29?? I can't remember what it is and it's annoying me
Ed Sheeran- i see fire i think :)
matthew mcgurn I See Fire - Ed Sheeran
I think its Ed Sheeran I see fire. But it also sounds like that passenger song, 'let her go' i think
matthew mcgurn i see fire -ed sheeran
Ed Sheeran - I see fire, as others have previously mentioned. However, it reminds me a little bit about Roxette's Listen to your heart too.
Why is the kemper on the tuner setting for some of the video?... 4:11 mins in. No sound comes out of the kemper on this setting. Busted lol
I can't wait for kemper to have an 80% off sale, so I can actually afford one...
ha, can't see it happening. I want one too...
Well it's going to never happen. Lol. Used you can find some amazing deals here and there.
you should save bro , trust me it's a piece of gear that'll last you for a life time
Got my kemper stage form my local store for a little less that 1700 Canadian (it had been out on rent for a long time so they reduced the price)
Sold my hx stomp

And a strymon ouja power supply
It’s only been a few days but I haven’t regretted it at all. It’s a magic piece of gear, my suggestion is to find a way to get it, it’s worth it
@@tommurphy3188 which one to get for home and live use?
I have a kemper with a lot of top quality profiles.. i mean a lot. but each time i don't have time for tweaking stettings, your Tone king preset is my good to go profile, it's clear, well balance, and working with all my guitars, seriously it's the one i use 70% of the time for my work. So i would like to thank you for this great job ! Thanks a looott !!!
Even though the Kemper is like $2000, I feel like it would be worth it since you'd have all your amps for gigging.
I think the Singularity just occurred. ;)
He said it right here:
ruclips.net/video/TJ96hClp9JM/видео.html
Tweaking the patch just a tad would be indistinguishable.
Amazing.
Fantastic playing - the main reason of awesome sound!!
Kemper sounds legit AF in a blind test I'm sure that your mind will explode ....anyway 3:00 song name?
Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out - Eric Clapton version.
PidamosPizza the second one i think is i see fire by ed sheeran
thanks dude
PidamosPizza Nobody knows you're down and out. The Eric Clapton version
Ryan Whitten yea but would you carry it around to a gig or settle for the Kemper? I’m too old to carry loads of gear.....close enough for me
99.9% won't hear the difference
Wat leuk dat je een haar gitaar hebt ik vind ze erg goed klinken
People that claim the tube amp is warmer are just using confirmation bias and forgetting how each amp was recorded differently. Kemper is the real deal. I guarantee not a single naysayer would be able to tell what was what in a blind test.
The fact that you aren't able to distinguish between the two instantly disqualifies you from any further comments.
@@Hutcho12
I second that
Funny how the wave of the future types get to claim that anyone who disagrees is biased but they... well they're not because the healthy mind that sees the future as in every way superior and beyond comparison and indistinguishable isn't biased at all, their opinion is just a true reflection of objective reality, that is to say that they know for a fact what everyone else is able to perceive with their ears. Why? I dunno.. wave of the future!
But I'm not parting with my tube amps. ;)
I feel like the tone king makes the sound more rounder?
I agree, but I'll bet a couple minor EQ tweaks to the Kemper after capturing the initial profile would make it indistinguishable from the Tone King.
You can tell the difference on the grit early on in the video but the clean cleans (lol) are spot on
Wow!!!!! I'm impressed with the Kemper.
Crazy how close they are. Tone king sounds ever so slightly warmer to me so dang close. Best review I've seen of the kemper
No brainer
@@simcHyt I think a more accurate comparison would be a wife/gf vs. a hooker :D
Forget the amps, beautiful playing! Gained another new sub, your whole style and video quality is top notch, great stuff!
Hadn't heard of the Kemper amp before but I'm really impressed by the overall sound quality. With a little bit of tweaking you'll probably get a sound nobody would ever suspect of not coming from an actual tube amp.
Dankjewel!!☺️
bass sounds clearer on the tone king. i like it better on the tone king
the tone king does sound better but the kemper is not that far away from it
i wonder what the price difference is between them, because if you are on a budget and the kemper is the affordable one then you shouldnt be dissapointed that you got it
they haven mastered the subs yet. I still mic bass. it wont be long though.
What a time for us guitarists to live in...I can't imagine something like KPA even just a decade ago.
Amazing. Virtually no difference, unless you're extremely picky!
Awesome! Can't wait to try this profile. Your playing is amazing.
Has anyone got a track list of all the riffs he plays at all?
I saw till half and formed an opinion... The high end was clearer and a bit of reverb... Forwarded to the end to hear your opinion. And smack on. You felt the same.and as said , a digital device can be easily tweaked to get the desired end result (if you understand your device), thus making it super versatile.
Always amazing to hear you...
There is a slightly accentuated “bell tone” of the strat that comes out a bit more with the tube amp. But gosh, the Kemper comes darn close.
Biggest difference is in the top end. But it's so slight it can easily be made up for with eq. Impressive.
someone named van halen said: "The sound is in your hands" haha
but the amp sound is second to none.
Analog amps reacts to your hands touch a lot more than those digital options.
I’ve been using a Kemper for years in the studio. Does it sound good enough? Totally. And I’m too lazy to haul my amps up the stairs.
But there is a huge difference in feel while playing - even if the audience doesn’t care - and that will keep me using tube amps for a long time.
"I am going to make an A/B comparison to... C if you can tell the difference" HA! 😂
Marko SWN this amp was profiled using the mic and preamp in the signal chain, so yeah....
I'm sitting here with my phone speakers and wondering if you even switch the amps :D
...put on headphones to hear the small difference!!...it's that hard to tell the difference!!...
Saw Naplam Death use one of these. Spoke to the bassist Shane Embry about it and he said it was a godsend. Cut way down on stage and travel real estate and sounded great. Would love to get one of these some day.
Best to learn to play a guitar before investing in any of this.
I have a Kemper and I love it. I must admit though. In this demonstration the difference which is pretty clear to me is the transient information between the two. The amp has more transients and highs. But as stated in the video, one can tweak the tone... don't know about the transients. Just my two cents.
I'm selling one of my kidneys in order to have a kemper!
In my country you can’t get 1.7 grand for a kidney! 😂
@@ashkanpower I was joking as well 🙂 I guess text doesn’t always convey tone. Sorry for any discrepancies 👍🏼
Love the way you put your videos together. Really useful.
The real amplifier always gives you a great sound.
excellent video, smooth playing. literally lost track of which amp was on.
True. I use my Kemper in my bedroom and happy 🤓. I’d never take it to a show, that’s why I own my AC30
The kemper sounds more articulate and redefined.
Kemper is unbelievable!Fantastic!I am using from 4 or 5 years and i did profile of all my amps!Amazing!
KEMPER sounds better lol(dont kill me)
crumb, that did a great job profiling your amp.
La différence entre stupide et intelligente.... toi tu es ...
Great demonstration man. Very impressed with YOUR TONE and then with the Kemper. Your playing inspires too. Well done.
Very talented my teacher !! Cool demo !
Just saw your other video about Tube vs Computer amp. The main diference for me is that the Tube Amp sounds "organic" in both cases. There's a little "imperfection" in tube amps that makes them perfect sounding. Great videos. (hope I can play as well and fluid as you).
Both sound great, but there is a bit more sparkle in the Tone King which is nice. Great playing!
