PMS stands for Perempuan Merdeka Seutuhnya [ women who are completely independent ] This song was actually written by Marsya (vocals, guitar), Widi (bass), and Sitti (drums) during high school around 2017 together with their counseling teacher and mentor Abah Erza. “We write songs fueled by the residual energy we leave after school. At that time, we were very enthusiastic about school activities, so basically we had to drag ourselves to the studio for workshops,” recalls Marsya. PMS is an expression of VOB's antipathy, displeasure, and anger towards their current situation, both lyrically and musically. Despite the conditions they were in, there wasn't a trace of fatigue in the songs they produced. The main inspiration behind the lyrics of "PMS" comes from a series of short stories written by Indonesian writer Feby Indirani entitled "Bukan Perawan Maria" [ Not the Virgin Mary ]. This single focuses on VOB's protest against discriminatory and judgmental behavior that tends to be aimed at women who have different mindsets, perspectives, attitudes, and even desires or dreams compared to the norm. I've watched many of the VoB reaction videos produced by English-speaking RUclipsrs from England, Nigeria, South Africa, Australia and the United States, largely to gauge what my fellow-Westerners feel about the band. Reactions are universally enthusiastic about the band and their performances although most of their reactions can be summed up in their uninformative exclamations of 'wow!'. However, there is a young couple from South Africa and a young guy who sounds like he comes from one of the Southern states in the USA who are particularly good on musical analysis. One reaction, in particular, was profoundly moving. That of a young African-American who was virtually in tears over the message contained in Please (God) Allow Me to Play Music. With regard to the music, Western listeners have tended to focus on Widi's astounding bass-playing (her playing on their cover of Muse's Hysteria at a breakneck tempo is a standout for me). However, this tends to ignore what Marsya and Sitti are doing. If all that Marsya was doing was singing over those complex riffs, one would be amazed. But it's the fact that the lyrics, whether she is rapping or singing in Sundanese (?) or English, do not scan neatly with the melody line or the riff requires that she set up a polyrhythm between her vocal and guitar work. Likewise, Sitti's remarkable kick drum work (single or double) (some of those triplet rhythms are staggeringly difficult to play) sits under either the riff or the bass line and accentuates them. You both need to check out Kim Dracula "Make me Famous". They are like metalcore, trap metal, Hiphop/rap, swing band all mixed into a fucked up sound but the best thing you have heard in a loooong time! Or you could do their track featuring Johnathan Davis from Korn called "seventy thorns". Both are incredible!! Please try one of the two, I think both if you will love it!
I've tried to get into the warning, and those other bands from Japan (besides lovebites and Band-Maid) and thus band is the only one that seems to pull me in (even tho I've only heard a couple songs)

They are like metalcore, trap metal, Hiphop/rap, swing band all mixed into a fucked up sound but the best thing you have heard in a loooong time! Or you could do their track featuring Johnathan Davis from Korn called "seventy thorns". Both are incredible!! Please try one of the two, I think both if you will love it!
