One of the few channels where I’ll click the like button before fully watching the video because I know that I won’t be disappointed. Appreciate what you all do. 👊🏻
Same to you JD learn a LOT from your channel as well!! You have covered places that are very personal for me. Had 3 relatives in the Civil War two at Gettysburg as well as two in Normandy on D-Day in WWII. Thank you for all you do to educate us about history!!! 🇺🇸👍
We agree. We visited the 150th in 2013 and it was PACKED there. Even Stephen Lang from the movie Gettysburg as George Pickett was there and we stood just a few feet from him. It was a great day and a wonderful visit. We drove all the way from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
@Tony's Civil War Museum® that’s awesome! We’ve been there I believe 3 times and still haven’t seen everything yet. We hope to go back as soon as possible.
i was there in 2013 in the reenactment and like in the real pickits charge after the charge it started to rain and it did when i was there after the pickits chage reanactment
I just came in from walking the dog along the Delaware River ... looked down at my watch approaching 4pm, thought about what happened 159 years ago, looked SW towards Gettysburg ... then thought you guys would be on the field .... great series gang !!
I love visiting the Battlefields of Gettysburg...its my sanctuary and since I reside under 2hrs in Coal Region of PA, I make every effort to stop by and I don't leave until I visit Little Round Top. Great job, fellas, on taking us through Picketts Charge! Love it! 👏 Thank you!
Wow, I love these videos, where I can visit this hallowed ground, though physically so far away. I love Garry Adelman's enthusiasm. His passion for the history and events that occurred here inspires the same feelings in me.
Thank you everyone. My family is from Pennsylvania especially my father (Titusville)he took us to Gettysburg in July 1-3 1963 never forgot it. I took my family July 1-3, 1988 my youngest was one month old at the time. In July 1-3, 2013 I drove back from California to attend the 150th with my daughter and hopefully Lord willing I will be back again in 2038. For me there is no place like the Military Park when I'm there I'm close to my father who was a great Civil War scholar to me as a boy and then passing that History on to my own children. I just want to say watching your live today has brought back those feelings from all those years ago ! Great Job!
Shalom everyone! 63 years old, read about Civil war History from a very early age, my Great great Grandfather was a Captain in the Union army, and am a distant cousin of Sam Watkins from the army of Tennessee, finally made it to where you and your great crew are standing…. I did not want to leave spending a week and still wanted to spend more time… Thank you one and all for your great work! G_d Bless you!
So glad to see the younger generation take over this historic event and many others from the older pros with such interest, enthusiasm and knowledge...I was afraid it would be left in only books...Thank You so much.
I was already excited for my first trip to Gettysburg in a few weeks but this video has gotten me even more excited. Excellent content and thanks for sharing!
Outstanding ladies and gentlemen of the American Battlefield Trust. I know this comment is late but I thank you for bringing this engagement of Pickets charge to life in detail ,as well as, all the battles y'all have done throughout the entire American Civil War eastern and western theaters of the war. My family will continue to support y'alls. My great, great grandfather fought in this struggle in the Western theater with the Fourth Michigan Cavalry. Again you bring it to life as if you were there. Keep on keep on, to keep it alive. Best regards, from a United States Army Veteran.
I have walked that field. I thought that it was crazy that the men walked across it all open for that amount of time. That's a large field. It is just crazy!
Kris and Garry...Can't thank you enough for the passion you put into your videos. I'm 71 years old and have been to Gettysburg four or five times. It is one of the few places I have actually felt the loss of so many souls standing at the bloody angle. My wife's second great grandfather died in Virginia with Stuart's 5th cavalry.
As many times as I've been there (and it's a lot since my father first took us there in the early 1960s) there is always more to hear about Pickett's Charge! Great work on 159!
When I grow up I want to be Garry!! Thanks so much for all you do. I live in Boise Idaho and can only afford 1 trip a year to Gettysburg and that is for rememberace day. Please keep it going! I raised a couple hundred bucks for tge trust on my birthday via Facebook and hope you got it!!
Thank You All for Educating in an engaging and energetic manner. Knowledge is Power and Our History should not be lost or diluted. May God Bless America
Thank you guys for all the great videos! You don't disappoint!! Thanks for continuing to preserve, educate, and inspire by preserving our hallowed ground from the Rev. War, 1812, and of course the Civil War!! Gettysburg is my favorite battlefield! Looking forward to next year and the 160th!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Garry, Kris and everyone involved in making this incredible video. You guys are the true experts. Personally, I get choked up whenever I think about Alonzo Cushing. Thanks again.
As a Boyscout in the 80s, we participated in a hiking tour of the battlefield. As part of that, we camped at Seminary Ridge, awoke in the morning, broke camp, then hiked up to the Angle. What an eye opening experience that was, particularly when we hit the road and had to get past that fencing. 😳
Sorry about mistakes new computer very sensitive to mistakes. You two guys and photographer really love being out there. Wish I'd been there. Visiting in laws in Vienna Austria. My father -in-law visited the park in the 1930's. He ended up on Rommel's staff in the Afrika Corps.
I’ve always loved WW1 & 2 history, a couple months ago I caught Garry on a couple videos and got hooked bad! A whole new battle field addiction is now upon me thanks to your incredible knowledge! Seriously… not everyone is an expert, just want you to know that your work is so wonderful that it can easily grab newbies and dedicate them to your awesome cause.
Your presentations are the next best thing to actually walking the Gettysburg Battlefield. Please continue these and I'm already looking forward to your 160th anniversary presentations!
Well done. Many thanks. Your informative tours clearly demonstrate how much greater understanding of battles is gained by actually being on the ground and considering terrain features.
After watching this I can’t wait to visit the battlefield again and see what I’ve been missing, my thanks to all of you for a great production!! 3fingers Edy from Lynchburg
Thank you for your enthusiasm, and knowledge. Excellent presentation. Yes Meade won and is finally getting the well deserved credit for doing so. Tragic though is the loss of life of all those men on both sides. A civil war is the most cruel of conflicts.
Thank you for your time, your passion for history, and for all of your awesome videos. Too few people care enough about those that came before us. In my humble opinion it is still important in spite of differing opinions, beliefs, and backgrounds.
You guys are absolutely amazing and your knowledge of the Civil War and your passion for sharing that knowledge are second to none…..I could watch and listen all day, every day because I’ve learned so much from you guys.
Gettysburg has always been a special place for me, came here as a kid with my parents, then with our own kids, and with the boys in our Scout troop. So glad to see so many visitors!
Thank you guys for your time, knowledge and passion for bringing the history alive with these videos and talking about what happened where it happened.
When I attended Marine Corps Command a Staff College we did a battlefield study at Gettysburg. We walked the terrain, in silence, at Pickett's charge. It was stunning for all of us. What those men did was heroic, insane, tragic, horrifying...... Most of us had combat experience. Nothing in our lives could compare.
Wow...I learn so much watching your videos. We plan our first visit to Gettysburg in September, just wanted to give you guys a thumbs up on the great informative work you've done. This has really got me so excited about our visit. Thanks again.... Mitch. Tennessee
Excellent, thank you. I was there for the 150th but wasn't as informed as I am now due to your continued informative videos. My goal is to get back some day soon. Keep up the great work you all are doing.
I have walked part of that field near dark, by myself...wanted 'something' to happen...Those men in grey, making that charge, had an amount of courage that the vast majority of us, will never possess...Great admiration for them...I have read that the Confederate bombardment was the loudest, man made, sound ever produced prior to the dropping of the Atomic Bomb in WW II...Input from Rhode Island...
The final-lee!!! Yes, we've been waiting for it!!! Thanks so much for making this 159th so wonderful, we all appreciate you! Gary made a great point about Hunt, telling Hancock that he could possibly ward off a battle involving infantry by bombarding them with artillary... Really?!! Sooooo, I may be with Gary, Hunt gets a middling 5-6...
Another really outstanding presentation by Mr. Adelman and Mr. White. This is the best analysis of the topography of the actual advance route I have seen. Kris White’s explanation of the events involved here was outstanding. Garry Adelman as always, grabs your attention at the outset and never lets go. A superb presentation of this assault.
First trip to Gettysburg last week. I walked out and hopped on the rock pictured at 11:00. Noticed the cover there as well as the shallow rock ledge 50 yards closer along the fence line at 16:00. The pine tree along the Emmitsburg road has a plaque from Eisenhower’s Camp Colt.
My wife and I first visit to Gettsburg was in 1970.She was pregnant with our first child. The only picture I have is at the high water mark.. Years later we took the same picture with our full grown son. Thank You for your informational videos.
I remember when I went to Gettysburg I couldn't believe how low the wall is. You get a good view of the angle wall behind Gary when he's speaking at the end.
Wow….that’s all I can say. You guys did an absolutely amazing job. Now I’m going to back to day one and watch this series again. There is so much information to digest! I loved every single minute of this, I honestly did. Thank You so much, you have gained a new member to the American Battlefield Trust. 👍
Also thank you guys for talking about Stannards Vermonters at Pickett's charge! It is not talked about a lot! The boys from the Green mountain state helped win the battle of Gettysburg! I am proud to have two relatives in VT regiments at Gettysburg as well as reenact Vermont soldiers! Thanks again for the great videos looking forward to the 160th next year! Gary I hope to meet you at some point! Hope you all have a great 4th of July 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍🦅🦅👍😃
thanks, kristopher! I was there today and I wanted to meet for the 3:00 NPS Pickett's Charge talk, but got sidetracked. I really regretted seeing it until I watched your video
Thank you for guiding us through that fateful July 3rd attack. My family and I crossed that incredibly wide field as part of “Armistead’s Brigade” with NPS Ranger Bill Hewitt during the 150th Anniversary. It was hot, the ground uneven with long grass, and we climbed over two fences while I repeatedly reassured my 10 year daughter that “we’re almost there”. After reaching The Angle, we all gathered together as Americans and experienced an incredible rendering of echo taps as we honored the sacrifice of those who fought and sacrificed there.
