Out of all the Journo’s I’ve followed since I was a youngster, Jethro’s always been the one I think I’d connect with the most. He’s like me in that he’s an 80’s kid who grew up on ‘90s performance cars. Love seeing cool 90’s cars getting revisited and having some spotlight shone on them from a well respected journo, who drooled over these cars as much as my mates and I did growing up! Top work
Great review Jethro. Very few reviewers seem to really get it. A standard R32 GT-R is pretty dull but they come alive when you get them north of 400hp. When you bear in mind that it was developed in the late 80s and launched in 1989 it was very much ahead of its time.
Yay! Happy to celebrate this yesteryear content with a like and a sub. Great work from Jethro and the team to put this together and deliver a good story. Very much hyped for more like this.
As a BNR32 owner, this review is absolutely spot on. Standard they are very underwhelming, but modified ones are where the legend comes from. Mine is 570bhp which isn’t massive by today’s standards. But the sound, the smell, the rawness of it, that’s why I love her.
My personal preference is unmolested models. That said finding a GT-R (or Supra) and then paying for it gets it over in the Unicorn world. Looking forward to your review of the 1st gen NSX, preferably the NA1. Solid work on GT-R.
Now that's some praise. My question is how does he pick the one to drive? I bought a GR Corolla 2/23. At 73 I figure it's a stretch run.@@carseyeadmire
@@stevethomas760 all his cars get driven regularly especially if we're going to coffee and cars or just doing a run for breakfast. Are you happy with the GR? I'm a fan of them.
@@carseyeadmire I have a 5/20 Car & Driver "cars worth waiting for" and the GRC was listed. I do enjoy the car, not perfect but close enough. Toyota's approach is obviously different with a 1.6L engine. My brother has an older Z06, same size front brakes as the GR. Firm ride but not harsh. Trick is to find one for a reasonable price. I have a Core, $40.5K. It's a good low/mid $40s car, it's not a good $50+ car.
There's a good podcast interview with Fred Gibson of Gibson Motorsport which he talks about how they basically redesigned and rebuilt the GTR for racing in Australia as it was cheaper, stronger and more powerful than the Nismo cars. components
Hate to correct you Jethro but in Australia it was the Australian Touring car championship not "Supercars" that the GTR competed in. Brilliant video as always from you, have always enjoyed your content wherever you are at and looking forward to more.
Although I wouldn’t claim it’s as great as an R32 GTR (my absolute poster car), my Impreza STi gives me that same feeling you described when you said it makes every road the perfect road. Summed it up exactly, especially for UK roads and conditions.
mmmmmm nice mods, not over done..which is nice...... but at the end the day yeah, come 10 years later, always a untouch mod R32 GTR will always go for more $$$$$.. I believe the car is beautiful perfect the way it was born..
NO!!!!!!!!!!!! They NEVER USED the 4 Wheels Steering. They BLOCKED THAT OFF For Group A!!!!!!! Get your facts right!!!!!!! NO they all used Attessa Contollers. I have a Field ETS Controller. I can make my car 50/50 on straights and 50/50 on bends depending where i dial the gauge. I can make it 100 front and 100 back!!!!!!!!!! I CAN DIAL IN ANYTHING I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They used HICAS in Japan, you also can't put 100% power to the front wheels, power is always going to the rear wheels, all you are doing is changing how much pressure is pushing against the clutch packs in the transfer case.
All that Nismo crap and HKS was done WELL after the car was built!!!!!! Nismo Mk2 Emblems. HKS too!!!! It's all a bit OLD!!!!!!!! And some shitty Carbon Fibre!!!!!! Blablabla!!!!!!!!! Looks concocted!!!!!!! My Nov 89 has ALL the usual Nismo period stuff!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They NEVER used the 4 wheel steering in racing!!!!!! That was something for idiot drivers. In racing they ALL used a BLOCK on the rear subframe and blocked the pipes. Tell the truth for ffs!!!!!! I know i have an Nov 89 N1 car!!!!!!! They also used Attesa Black Boxes. So they could create 100% RWD on straights. Or 50/50 on bends!!!!!!! I have a Attessa override box that does this!!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't be a loser in the comments dude, I have a set of Hoshino Impul wheels for my bnr32 as well as TE37's. Both great wheels. Period. TE37 is nice because they can be replaced, not some irreplaceable classics, and I love G7's but you know its not always worth driving them on the public road, they are getting old these days.
great respect for Jethro from a fan of his talent from Ukraine, I have been following his work since 2012 from EVO magazine

Thanks! Really enjoyed filming this one. What a cool thing!
2:16 Should've said "Destroyed local competition in the ATCC series" rather than supercar series which didn't even exist yet.

The R32 is still my ultimate dream car. One day I'll get one. One day.
Anything is possible!
The editing and videography has improved on each video. Well done
Great film. Love the car and the way the review is delivered. Subbed . Nice to see a more relevant well shot video.
subbed for more Jethro, love the guy
Amazing video. Great to hear perspective on a legendary car from Jethro, a driver
Great video Jethro. Good to see you back! I regret selling my Godzilla every day!
Did you replace it with anything else?
@hemmingsmotornews E46M3 and an Alpina D3 Touring... but yeah, I still have this feeling of yearning deep down for thr R32.
This is outstanding!! Jethro sliding supercars is perfection!
Jethro, great vid, and I’ll even excuse the error at the start…. all 911s have independent rear suspension
They have semi trailing arms up until 993. That’s what I meant! VO is a nightmare sometimes!!
Yay! Happy to celebrate this yesteryear content with a like and a sub. Great work from Jethro and the team to put this together and deliver a good story. Very much hyped for more like this.
Great video, really enjoyed it. I'd love to see Jethro drive a nicely modified Evo next.
Thanks for the suggestion! An Evo would definitely be a fun one. 😎

The NA1 NSX is a great car. My mate rates his NA1 above his R32 N1 GTR.

The R32 GT-R will forever be my favorite Skyline. 🏁🏁
A friend of mine bought one and graciously let me have it for a day. It left a lasting impression. I hope to own one too.

Vspec R32 GT-R didn't have an electronic differential. That came in the R33/R34. Add a little toe out and some camber and the turn in gets sharper.
Slight correction: Was never sold new in New Zealand. We just have many from the large amount JDM used imports we have.
Just a heads up with the description it should say Group A not Group B. Great video thought!

So many new cars only work in a very prescribed and narrow set of circumstances. Love cars that can do it all, like this thing.
Love Jethro!

Nitto Clear Cam Belt Cover (Australian Company) hardly called going full JDM😂
I think it was more the crazy look, and the general way the engine is dressed. Very JDM, I would say!
Fair call, very well done and tasteful car.
It was a MONSTER then and it's a MONSTER NOW!!!!!! And it IS!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine is a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!
So this car has less than my Nov 89 Stage 2 with Nismo.
475BHP!!!!!!!!!!!
Run a Field ETS to COMMAND how much front torque you want till 50/50!!!!!!!!!

I TOLD you to LOCK OUT the rear wheel drive shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
So he blethers about some name brands and it all comes up at Stage 1!!!!!!
