Probably an extremely obvious pick... but Stieg Larsson's 'Millenium' trilogy to this day remains some of my favourite thrillers of all time.

Great recs, as an avid thriller reader I have read most of these. Need to read Look Closer soon….
I loved “The Devotion of Suspect X” if anyone is looking for books in translation from Japan.
Have you read any Sarah Waters, she is brilliant and so are her plot twists, “Fingersmith” is amazing.
Also “Jamaica Inn” by Daphne duMurier is even better than “Rebecca” in my opinion.

Recently I read 'The Housemaid's secret' by Freida Mcfadden which I absolutely enjoyed, right until the last line!! I think you should definitely check that out. Also because you have read 'The Housemaid' previously and liked it, I think you would like this too.
Loved this video btw. Need a part 2 for this in the future!!!

Books I recommend: those who wish me dead (like no exit but on a camp ground) the darkest flower (if your into legal thrillers) two girls down (if you like dark and detectives) out (if u like character driven) dear child (kidnapping) magpie murders (kind of cozy and a book in a book) those girls (dark as Karin slaughter sisters) confessions (mind blowing)

  • @rsamara05

I was so much invested in Daisy Darker up until the “silly” ending. Am sorry, don’t kill me for personal preference. Am sorry to say it’s an insult to compare it to “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie, especially because of the ending.

  • @rassipillai1516
    @rassipillai1516 11 дней назад

Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney should have been on this list, for the extremely twisted unpredictable plot reveals, in addition to being very atmospheric and spooky and very well written. The story takes multiple dramatic turns towards the end, and has unreliable narrators, it would be very apt for avid thriller readers.
Local woman missing was a great read, but it was a very easy read in spite of the multiple POVs as they were done so well with clarity and the characters well fleshed out. It's a book that anyone can fly through, nothing specifically complicated to make it suit avid readers more.

Recommended that are not in this video would be

Good me, Bad me by Ali Land

Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier.

I’m with you here! I picked up Pretty Girls not knowing I was pregnant. Something stopped me from reading it beyond the first page it 2. Cut to 3 years later, while packing up my home to move, I found it buried in the back of the shelf and read it. Had vivid nightmares , couldn’t sleep for 2-3 days after and almost 8-9 months later, I still have graphic flashbacks ! They should definitely have trigger warnings printed on them for people with heart conditions, anxiety, even pregnant women! I’m so glad I didn’t read it when I got it. I love plot twists and suspense but the gore is another level!

Please please read Little Darlings and The Hidden by Melanie Golding. It’s a mix of thriller, crime fiction , and mythology. Little Darlings is about a new mom who is having a hard time after the birth of her twins. She has an unsettling experience with an old lady in the hospital and when she comes home , she thinks something is off with her twins. As the reader your not sure if she’s having a mental breakdown or something more is going on.
The hidden is about a woman who is taking some time off work due to mental health problems and she takes an interest in the man in the apt across the street. She befriends him, his daughter, and the mother of her child. But as the book goes on you realize there is something strange about the wife where again , you don’t know if there is delusion or something more is going on.
The same woman detective is also featured in both books but you can read them as stand alones!

For something different, I wanna recommend some thrillers that are kind of out there--One of Us is Lying, My Sister the Serial Killer, and The Sympathizer. I was pleasantly surprised by One of Us is Lying because it was YA but I loved the Breakfast Club, locked-room mystery vibes it had. My Sister the Serial Killer has such a cheeky tone but I can see why some people will hate it. Also got to recommend the only book that won both the top mystery/thriller award AND the Pulitzer Prize. It's more spy thriller but so beautifully written. The narrator is so charming and charismatic.
