  • This was created in between several videos, just trying out a different style. I wanted to bring out Hawk's unsaid thoughts. I'll always be more comfortable vidding with lyrics though :)

    You have skillfully portrayed Tim's letter to Mary as revealing Hawk's inner feelings.. even more than he knew at the time. There is so much prophecy in hindsight.

    "I need you" because "you know me" ... Hawk was truly himself only with Tim, only in front of him was able and willing to take off his mask

    How do you walk away from a love like that?
    How do you let a passion like that die?

      Both excellent questions.
      Unfortunately, for Hawk, his childhood experience with his father and society in the 50s and onwards to the 80s - though there was some more right to be in the open as time progressed but not as we have today - would have never accepted him and Tim’s love and who they are 💔
      But more than that, Hawk even in a real loving relationship (with Tim a.k.a. Skippy) would always choose himself and his career and do anything and everything to protect his reputation and himself above all and everyone else. Taking the easy way out by marrying Lucy and betraying Tim and breaking his heart.

      @@knowledgegathererdraftsave1979 See, it's that second part that I think people really misread about Hawk. I don't see how hardly any of the bad choices he made, especially when it came to Tim, were about ambitions or his career. And I absolutely think that, if he had been able to envision a world in which he and Tim could actually be together openly, he would have chosen him in a heartbeat. The issue was only ever that that felt so impossible to him - that he'd so deeply internalized the shame put on him by his father and society at large that the idea of saying it directly out loud how deeply he loved Tim was terrifying, let alone the idea of taking that risk to live a whole life with him. It wasn't impossible, even in those days, there could have been ways for them to make it work, but it WAS a very genuine risk, and again, the biggest hurdle probably wasn't even so much the societal risk as it was Hawk needing to work through his own internalized shame first.
      But all that is to say: I don't think he was ever some vicious, ambitious manipulator like people seem to read him on the surface. Did he take the path of least resistance out of fear of what it would mean not to? For sure. But was he just some callous, selfish douche manipulating Tim and not actually caring about him? Absofreakinglutely not. Quite the opposite. He loved Tim every bit as deeply as Tim loved him. Tim just wore his heart on his sleeve from day one, and for Hawk that was really, really hard and scary to do. So it was this constant cycle for him of desperately yearning to be with Tim and needing him in his life, and trying to quit him so he could stay on the path of least resistance only to keep realizing he never could.

    They had so much passion and consuming love that so much was left unsaid, but romantic gestures and actions in some ways speak louder than words. Tim wrote Hawk a letter that he still loved him and he never stopped; Lucy burned it, but Hawk knew later on.
    *Promise you won’t write* that was their special way of saying *I love you*
    Tim said it in the end. Then Hawk finally said it when it was all over. ❤🥹💔😢

    Does Hawk actually tell Tim the he has made Hawk happier than he'll ever know in the show? I can't remember...

      No 😢he says it when he tells Tim to write the letter for Mary,

    • @sherrimast8525
      @sherrimast8525 4 месяца назад +1

      @@pearlweaver1543 But the letter to Mary was Hawk disclosing his true feelings about Tim. Tim realizes that when Hawk gets to the part about "but I have always known that we have no future." That's why he says to Hawk that he doesn't him or understand them. Tim can feel the palpable empathy, love and compassion that they have for each other but doesn't quite catch on to how afraid Hawk is to have and/or allow himself to indulge in that. They push and challenge each other all thru the series!

    Ну Тим тоже " интересный чудак". Сбежал от Хоука в армию- не хотел быть " привязанным", но не отказывал себе в других связях, в итоге подцепил... Да, политубеждения--это важно, но не ценой счастья. Хотя, возможно, он надеялся найти что-то настоящее...
