  • @zemox2534

Matt Borne was great as Doink. I know many old school wrestling fans look down on the gimmick (I did too. At least at first) but the more I learned about Matt, the more I started to appreciate his version of Doink. The character was funny and scary, and he could really go in the ring. I wish he got a run as the IC champion. Heel Doink as the champion of the mid card would have been cool

I loved his short lived run as the Borne Again character in ECW after he left WWF . I think that gimmick could have evolved perfectly in ECW and would've been a great fit there . But yeah , I agree with you .

Matt Borne was a fantastic wrestler. He knew how to put on a show and work a gimmick. Unfortunately, he had some hardcore demons to deal with, which got in the way of things like they do. Heel Doink as IC Champ, hell yeah that would have been great!

After Jorge Gonzalez aka Giant Gonzalez left WWF and after his time in Japan, he was supposed to return to WCW to become part of the Dungeon of Doom as the Yeti but health issues (a diabetes attack) prevented that from happening. Ron Reis was literally a last minute substitution for Gonzalez as the Yeti. Also you mentioned Steve Keirn as taking over as Doink, when Ray Apollo spent the most time as Doink after Matt Osbourne was fired.

@@namebrandrobots1248 Gonzalez had no business in wrestling. Ted Turner signed him for the Hawks because he was tall, and moved him to WCW to try and salvage what he spent. He was injury prone, uncoordinated, and never going to get over - and that was clear to me when I was 11 and the target audience when he started his first WCW run.

I have an idea for a list it might be depressing but I think that you could easily make a list. The idea is “gone too soon” or “abruptly stop” (you come with a title) and it should be a list of wrestlers who were on an amazing career run but it was cut short after either an injury or death. A few names I can think of are Bray Wyatt, Brodie lee, Jason Jordan (remember I said it doesn’t have to be death) Brian pillman, Owen hart, and many more but the list is getting too long. I understand if you don’t want to do it, it’s only an idea.

When I was 12 I saw Bret Hart and I fell in love,of course he was watching his brother wrestle and didn’t notice me, I told my grandma I was in love and she just shook her head and smiled at me. Goldberg's original year was by far the greatest year in wrestling history. Think about it. He was so fantastic for those nine months when he was on the up leading to that world title win. And then after that it was over... Literally. Once he got the belt he was done. But that short time when he was maybe the most over man on the planet gave him that insane contract for one year in WWE and then gave him even more insane contracts later on as an old man. and it was all built on that debut year that was so special.

You shouldn't say "oozes", as that calls to mind his KLIQ/nWo bandmate ("Hey yo!"). Goldberg definitely wasn't the biggest star in the industry at any point in time. Arguably the hottest star in WCW in 98 and maybe 99? Sure. But by that time WWF had taken over in the ratings war and Stone Cold was the biggest star in the industry. By 99, the Rock was a very close 2nd (some would even say he passed him). At best, Goldberg was a distant 2nd throughout 1998 and a distant 3rd throughout 1999 and that's being quite generous putting him ahead of Undertaker, Foley, Hogan, Sting etc.

Capital Wrestling Corporation/World Wide Wrestling Federation under Vince McMahon Sr. (or rather, Vincent James McMahon, father of the disgraced Mr. McMahon/Vince McMahon Jr. [Vincent Kennedy McMahon]) ran the New York territory comprising New York, Connecticut, and other New England states. So, even though its HQ is in Stamford, Connecticut, the modern WWE's home base away from its HQ has always been "the mecca of sports-entertainment", Madison Square Garden (MSG is in New York), although RAW's original "permanent" location was in the Manhattan Center (also in New York). WWF in the late '90s into the early '00s also had its own restaurant + merchandise store on the Time Square strip known as WWF New York/The World, which closed only after a short few years of operation.

Goldberg was the worst wrestler ever and what I mean about that right there he didn't pay his dues he didn't know how to wrestle a lot of people he did wrestle got hurt and that so-called winter streak he had what you wrestle the same 10 people 100 times that's not a winning streak they're trying to make you the next hulk Hogan and Hogan wasn't really that good wrestler either he was just a name I would have more respect for Goldberg if he paid his dues but he didn't he came out the box and just start beating everybody and that's not fair to the ones who actually did the job who did the work who can actually wrestle if you don't believe me ask Brad Hart why he had to retire cuz the Goldberg's fuck up
