    there's sm hype happening in the pokemon space too with the people coming back for the newer sets as they touch on classics that everyone loves, tcg pocket bringing more people in the hobby, and for sure the rip and shippers bringing community and accessibility to opening packs whether they are new or older sets. I just hope in the future pokemon on the english side can start printing closer to demand for prices to not skyrocket so fast

  • @JarthM14

    I’ve heard a number of RUclipsrs say this and I’m not convinced. TPC printed enough cards last year for over 1 billion booster packs. I think the vast majority of people still buy packs at big box retailers and open them at home. Plus I think rip&ship buyers were previously spending that money at the stores too. I do think content creators are creating additional hype though.

      A billion packs is not even close to meeting demand

    • @eastendmafia1773
      @eastendmafia1773 День назад

      Nowhere near 2019-2020 levels of printing. While demand today is at an all time high. We all know the sets that were printed into the ground during that era. All of that is irrelevant because you would still be up on your money if you bought during release for every. Single. Set.

      Yes still tons of people buy packs at big box. But 5 years ago, there wasn’t even close to this many rip n ship packs being opened. It’s changing the dynamic in the hobby, substantially in my opinion

    I think Pokémon does a good job creating different sets that have various pull rates. The hardcore collectors would rather open less to achieve a specific card for their collection but who doesn't love a good chase. The balance of various sets allows streamers to open a ton of cards whether Pokémon fully intends to cater to them or not. If Prismatic is similar to CZ pull rate wise, there's your balance compared to a set like Surging which can be rough PR wise. If Prismatic pull rates are rough than the hype will be unreal. Prismatic seems unique though sar's are easier to hit than the desired Master Balls so the set alone could be a perfect balance.

  • @Bergacci88

    I don't believe the issue lies with the rip-and-shippers. Instead, we're currently in the midst of a Pokémon bull run, which naturally inflates prices. Over time, the market will transition into a bear phase, and values will decline accordingly. It's a cyclical pattern that's bound to repeat.

    • @ThePokeOffice

      Most people will do that but when sealed packs like Surging Sparks and 151 are scarce, one alternative way is go to rip N shippers. There are other ways like eBay and Amazon but for immediate results vs waiting for a week or so, live stream is the best way. It’s like Loto tickets vs scratch cards.

    If it's Rip 'n' Ship driving prices then it wouldn't just be because more packs are opened, right? I mean, if the number of people in the hobby is similar then the price premium would mean those people could buy fewer packs. It could be that the people doing the Rip 'n' Ship are storing lots of boxes and taking stuff off the market...but then wouldn't they only buy based on the demand that exists anyway?
    So it's probably more people entering the hobby - perhaps Rip 'n' Ship videos are more just acting like a lot of advertising for the hobby? Then you have investing bringing in more people, the competitive TCG growing year on year, TCG pocket release, better sets, harder pull rates, bigger chase cards, a lack of new releases around the Christmas period, etc. It's like a perfect storm for Pokémon card prices.

    • @ThePokeOffice
      @ThePokeOffice  23 часа назад

    What a concept. I mean that in the nicest possible way . I mean you’re right , these huge channels all over the planet are literally taking most of the products to maintain upmanship to achieve most views . I never even thought of it in that way. My advice to you buddy is try not to sweat the other channels. Your just letting more people know that their is a dude out there is ripping all day and all night , and people want to live through others , probably because most of us can’t afford that. It’s like The people who watch these channels who do the scratch off tickets . People love to see others win , and sadly , some love to see people fail. Just keep doing your thing , and never unconsciously promote your comp, I know your probably frustrated ass hell , but your day will arrive, and you may become that man. I watch you buddy because of your personality, that’s whats going to carry you , and your channel. Good luck

      One more thing . If you cannot compete with your competitors volume , then you may have to think outside the box , and carve out a niche for yourself ,one that nobody has ever done on this subject . I mean they already do giveaways , raffles , sale singles , packs etc. whats the one thing they don’t do that people can’t get enough of? . I’ve. Thought of 1 maybe two , that would definitely set you apart. Your going to do just fine

    no sorry, the prices are driven up by demand and availability.. youtubers ripping packs has nothing to do with it.. the amount of youtubers doing this is small potatoes compared to the number of pokemon collectors out there.. Moreover when there's great demand for packs, Pokemon can just produce more, after all, regardless of the number of packs each streamer wants, Pokemon has to fulfil all the orders and the pre-orders/stock orders around the globe
