    Great video. I find I drag too much stuff around. I agree that this case is fantastic. I have several for various pencils etc. They are easy to store and grab.
    Thanks for letting us see your set up.

    cannot draw and love these videos! following along builds confidence and a sense of humor and humility about drawing.

    Very impressive kit! I really like the clip idea for holding the brush, and I was pleased to see "the snail" make another appearance! 😁 My travel kit is similar to yours, but I keep it in a very small backpack. I also have a very handy collapsible cup which holds a good deal of water when needed in the field. Folds up flat and weighs next to nothing. Thankyou for another very interesting video - much appreciated. Cheers from Down Under!

      Haha, glad you like the Snail so much!!! Thanks for all the complements - collapsible cups are also a great idea, I am thinking about investing!!

    Darn, wish I had seen that case before I bought the Etchr Field case. I would have saved a lot of money! I do love the Etchr though but I like that you have the extra Velcro page and it holds a larger sketchbook. Please do a video on your pens and paint color choices!!!! I am new to urban sketching and find hearing artists thought process on supplies and color selection so helpful.

      Don't beat yourself up! The Etchr stuff is really lovely, and I was thinking about getting it myself - I have their satchel, which is a fascinating bit of kit, but also incredibly expensive (got mine second-hand hehe) and I felt I should do something more budget for a really portable set up.
      I have put pens and paints on my to do list for the next few weeks - thanks for letting me know you'd find that interesting!! :)

    Hi Toby, I have invested in some water brushes (for the intention of painting outdoors at some point!) but I'd like to know how you clean your brush in between changing colours?

    • @TobySketchLoose
      @TobySketchLoose  Год назад +1

      Hi! With a water brush I squeeze out a little water the clean it on a tissue or even in the grass!

    I really enjoy your videos! Your paintings are very nice and I always love to watch other artists stuff. Especially for on the go. Did you ever think about a smaller palette? You would loose some of the mixing space, but you would carry lighter and I like having different “themed” ones that I can grab and go for different occasions. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to see the next video. Also your voice is very soothing 😊

      I do actually have a couple of smaller palettes - for example one that I use for 'proper' watercolours - it has different colours in that are better suited to mixing. And then anther with very tiny wells that I use for very illustrative work with almost no mixing - this keeps them nice and clean and you barely need any pigment for that kind of thing. Haha and I've heard people say that about my voice before, thanks for the compliments :)

    Love your art so much. Maybe I'm missing something but having a bit of trouble seeing the exact sizes and types of fine liners. The image is upside down and I don't see the different types of points in the list you provided. Just want to be sure I order the right ones. Thank you!

      Exact sizes aren't important, which is why they are strictly listed, you should find what I use on my supplies link. But mostly I use a fountain pen.
      .2 and .6 in any brand would be a good variety

    Oh! Can you talk about your video recording and editing (ie equipment (camera, tripod, mic), editing (software, and your process))?
    I really like the quality of your videos (the image quality, editing, and story telling).
    Sometimes people will do videos on their process (which I really enjoy), but that’s not necessary.
    Thanks in advance.

      I keep intending to do this - it's on my to-do list for sure so hopefully you'll see that up soonish :) Thanks again for the lovely comments!

    Using the bulldog clips to temporarily store any extra brushes is a great idea. What about travel brushes? They would be better protected by their caps, and fit into the "pencil" holders. I am thinking about buying a travel brush, as an alternative to the water brush I've been using, but am curious as to why one is not in your travel kit.

    • @TobySketchLoose
      @TobySketchLoose  3 года назад +1

      I do have some travel brushes, I just have found that actually my nice brushes can survive in this bag and they're much nicer than the equivalently priced travel brushes. My travel brushes live in a little ziplock bag with a tiny tiny palette that I sometimes carry around and can just throw into literally any bag/pocket!

      Hi, Glad you enjoyed it! The paper is 'Khadi papers' - this one is actually made by Cass Art

    @6:00 and 6:12 - I didn’t catch what was in the tubes (especially the second tube).
    I checked the description and didn’t see them listed.
    Would you mind saying what they were, and since you were experimenting, have you decided what to go with?
    I recently started sketching again, and even more recently started to play with color (markers).
    I feel lost and completely out of practice with color - and not quite liking the feel/ look of marker (perhaps paper choice has something to do with it?).
    Anyhow, I’m watching your video so I can try and get my head back around watercolors, as I’d like to start experimenting with that.
    What kinds of papers and sketchpads do you typically use when using watercolor (and markers)?
    Thanks in advance, and thanks for sharing the videos! Enjoying them.

    • @TobySketchLoose
      @TobySketchLoose  2 года назад +1

      They are buff titanium and permanent carmine!
      Markers are hard to get right, they're more rigid and vidid, or less subtle than watercolours I find.
      Papers - a huge range, often a moleskin sketchbook, but I also like watercolour blocks. I like experimenting for sure - my favourite would be cold pressed winsor newton blocks though.
      In terms of my current palette - I actually have a video coming out this Saturday about that. It's changed quite a bit since this video, but definitely been my favourite and longest lasting selection of colours :)
      Thanks for the comment and questions by the way!

      @urbsketch 2 года назад +1

      @@TobySketchLoose thanks very much for the responses (and thorough ones at that)!
      I’m going to be experimenting with color (I’ll be posting even the failures, but to show the progress).
      So, I’ll be referring to your videos quite a bit.
      I need to shake off lots of rust.
      Thanks for the videos! I enjoy you talking us through things. I’m pretty camera/ mic shy, so can’t get myself to include that in my videos.
      Take care! I look forever to more videos!

    Oh, by the way, you asked, if anyone would be interested in reviews of your pens and paints. 👋🏻-MEEEEEEE😃
    Plus: why is there no fountain pen in your sketch kit. Did you try it?

    • @TobySketchLoose
      @TobySketchLoose  3 года назад

      Cool, I'll put the pen and paints reviews on my to do list!!
      I used to use a fountain pen - to be honest I just go through phases. At the moment I've gone off fountain pens because I'd run through the ink so quickly, and because I find doing very fine line work easier with a tiny fine liner rather than a fountain pen.
