- Joseph's privileged status, as favorite son, was shattered when his jealous brothers sold him into slavery. Through suffering and betrayal in Egypt, Joseph kept his faith in God. Interpreting Pharaoh's nightmares as warnings of famine to come, he was rewarded with the highest office in the land for saving the people from starvation. When Joseph's brothers came to Egypt seeking food, he tested their honesty and humility before revealing his true identity and happily reuniting with his family.

It also leaves out a lot that IS in scripture.
He was sold because he was the favourite son of Jacob and his brothers were very Jealous. They were also annoyed because he explained his dreams to his brothers that they would Bow at his feet.
Joseph was thrown in prison as he was accused by his masters wife. He was very attractive and well built and she tried to seduce him many times but he refused. Thats why she made up that lie, she also didnt throw a knife. She started taking off his robe and he rushed out leaving it in her hand and that's when she got the idea to accuse him. The master said all that is his is Joseph's APART from his wife. One rule and Jospeh was a good man and honored that. He also throughout this had the lord with him, which is something they should've added here. When his master found out about the accusations he was enraged and felt betrayed. He's the one that ordered Joseph's sentencing. Whilst in prison Joseph had the lord with him, he was appointed by the prison warden special duties and was very well trusted. Still imprisoned he helped others and tended to their needs as best he could. The two men that were freed in the Video were the cup bearer and the baker for the Pharaoh. He was displeased with them. Whilst in prison both of them had a dream on the same night, joseph noticed they were dejected and asked what the problem was and they said how can we know if we do not have an interpreter for our dreams. Joseph asked them to tell him their dreams, they asked if Joseph could interpret. He said are dreams not interpreted by our lord?. Their dreams were explained to them. Joseph explained how the Cupbearer's position would be restored in 3 days and the Baker would be hung In 3 days (the dreams are explained in detail in the bible but too long to post here) He was right. In 3 days it was the Pharoah's birthday. Joseph asked the Cupbearer to remember his kindness when he was released but he forgot. A year or two later the Pharaoh had a nightmare and none of his magicians and councilors could tell them. The cupbearer being present remembered joseph and explained what he had done. Joseph was sent and asked to interpret and he did. The 7 years of Abundance and 7 years of Famine.
The Silver Cup was also placed inside Benjamin's sack along with their silver at the mouth of the sack. He asked his servant to do this because he wanted Benjamin (The Youngest just like he was) to be safe from the brothers but also to test them. When they sacrificed their own life in Benjamin's place he realized they were changing and repenting for the sin they committed against him all those years ago. Joseph told them not to blame themselves for sending him to Egypt because it was the lord who did it. They also fell at his feet like his dreams predicted long ago before his brothers sold him.
Just so many things missing I
could go on but I'd be typing forever 😂 my suggestion is to NOT take these as whole truths but more like Bullet Points that give the blanket version of events. After you finish the episode I encourage you all to read the Verses associated with the video and fill in the blanks the video leaves out. This way you have an image of what it's all like and can put a face to the names and a setting to the city. Put them both together and you'll understand it much better. Remember to keep strong in the Holy Spirit and keep god at the front of everything you do. So if you're reading this and have the time. Here's your sign to honor the lord and read the bible. God Bless and I hope I helped some of you understand that the Entire Series leaves a lot of things out and shouldn't be taken as gospel.... because we have that 😂

There are many revelations in this story. One is that when Joseph told his dreams to his father and brother.
1. Although his brothers were full of jealousy they were able to interpret his dream for him. The Lord can use your enemies to interpret your own dreams. the Lord use who he wanted to use to accomplish his will. The Lord will use anyone despite their opposition; for his glory.
2. Notice how when Joseph was in the pharaoh's house and in jail he was still the head and not the tail. Joseph was always place in a position of a Leader. Check out your own life and what position are you always in? This is a way you will know your journey, but it is always wise to seek the Lord on what your calling is.
The liberty I like of this series is it uses different animation styles to portray the stories of the Bible

I loved this series ever since I was a little girl. My grandmother brought the whole series for me and it helped me learn everything about the bible and the characters.

Jacob hadn't seen Joseph for ages, assuming that he was killed by an animal; so he was probably more than glad to find out that he's alive.

I remember when this series was on HBO/Showtime? in the mid 90s & "Joseph" was my favorite story (though they're ALL outstanding). We taped all of the episodes but it got thrown out by an acquaintance in 2004 & I've been dying to see them ever since. I just discovered them tonight on RUclips so THANK you SO much for posting! Does anybody know where to obtain a whole DVD set? As I recall, it was a bit difficult to find on Amazon last time I did a search.

I've only ever seen them pop up as VHS tapes. If you're lucky you might find some on ebay. Just look up Testament: Bible in Animation and that should come up with some results. Unfortunately, it seems like the BBC is intent on making sure this series never sees the light of day given their current political leanings, so a second VHS box set is probably the best you can hope for.
I managed to find the DVDs on a bible society website a few years ago.

Potiphar's wife is similar to the women in our generation who force themselves upon men, but when refused, go to the authorities and file a false rape report. In all the years I have read and viewed this story depicted, I did not realize it until now.

@@aroseforepona6670 That's only what is statistically documented. You have billions of people on this earth and Christ tells us many times to stay away from who? The strange women. Men are just as bad but it is the seductress that brings mighty men to death. It can go both ways. Proverbs 5-7.
I trust real life statistics more than I trust the Bible, and that comes from someone who grew up in a Christian household and for whom this beautiful series was her childhood. WAY more.

Okay, what? The statues in Pharaoh's throne room look like the statue of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel, yet the Moses episode portrays Ramesses as the Pharaoh of the Oppression. I know that "Testament" is an anthology just like its predecessor "Shakespeare: the Animated Tales", but even then most of Shakespeare's tragedies have a chronology, for instance "Macbeth" is set in the 11th century while "Othello" is set in the 16th century, and of course, Shakespeare's histories have a chronology. The Bible too has a chronology and given the fact that Joseph predates Moses by a few centuries, this anachronism really stands out.

Wait where is Joseph’s wife and two kids?! If you read the Bible they are very significant because Joseph’s father blesses them before he died!!
I guess that they left it out because they wanted us to focus more on Joseph's life and the choice of his brothers. Since this ends before Joseph's father died I can see why they left them out.
Seriously!? An ad right in the middle of a children's ministry video. Why? Do you not understand the disruption of the video with ads interrupts the lesson and the children already are highly distractable. Too bad, our children's church kids would have loved the video.
This is a TV series and was produced in 1997. People spent a lot making this, You should tell them to buy the Series or get RUclips Premium so they don't have Ads. If you believe the church could benefit from this then you have a duty to tell them about it so they can provide it for the kids. Keep in mind the Series tells the Blanket Version of the stories. Much is missing from all of them. So Scripture is needed to fill in the blanks. So after the Kids watch, the church can read from the bible all the important parts missing and teach the kids the meaning as well.

The channel is BBC 2 it used to show on television back in the 1990s I don't know if you can get DVD copies in stores. But I'm sure you can find other episodes on RUclips and on other websites.
