Mourinho after beating arsenal with spurs 3 years ago
"I just want to say to arsenal fans that jokes and mockery aside they have an amazing manager . I know mikel from my barcelona days and he is a brilliant football brain . I think right now he is working still with what hr inherited but if arsenal trust him in a couple of years he will make arsenal be arsenal again "
That day tottenham was top of the league and arsenal 15th
How tables have turned
He’s also said that Arsenal had no chance at all this season of being in the title race, putting it down as 49% Liverpool and 51% Man City. I guess time will tell eh?🤷🏻♂️

About time someone has said liverpool were nowhere near the levels of city and arsenal
Liverpool bottlers protected by the media
Feel like Liverpool got lucky this season I know that don’t make sense considering their point tally but their football is so back to front sometimes
@@LiamVidler-ib6tv Im a liverpool fan and youre right. looking back on last season, winning the league this season wouldve been a miracle. i couldnt believe we were first in the league at any point this season
All the so called professional pundits thought Arsenal would be competing for Europa place last season but was the only club to give City a good run for there money.
This season Arteta and Co have built upon to have a stronger squad instead of just a team.
The Arsenal jigsaw puzzle is coming together nicely and will be competing with the best teams in Europe and winning trophies for fun very soon.
It still doesn’t change the fact they bottled it
Why are Liverpool not good enough, but Arsenal with Rob holding ,who cant get onto the subs bench for palace, were but just bottled it.
Agreed, Arsenal finished 5th year before last but bottled last season. And we finished 5th last year but were never good enough. I think we have slightly overachieved this year but not that much year before last we got 90+ points and we ended last season strongly. People seem to forget that. Last year we massively underachieved
At 15:20, Neville says “always measure a team by where you think they were at the start of the season”, by which reasoning Arsenal would have massively overperformed last year considering nobody had them competing for the title. Instead they’re seen as major bottlers, for reaching their highest points tally since 07/08.
He’s honestly one of the most inconsistent pundits around
* Expectations change throughout the course of a season as a result of a variety of circumstances (injuries, points deductions, exceeding performance targets, etc.) at different stages of that season. We took 9 points from a possible 24 from Gameweek 30-37 & gave up 2-0 leads away to Liverpool & West Ham, just about scraped a 3-3 draw at home to bottom placed Southampton & were pummeled away to Man City in succesive matches.
* At the start of the season, top 4 was the target & we well & truly blew that out of the water but that doesn't get away from the fact that we found ourselves in a position whereby we had it in our hands & self-imploded. The succession of those results in conjunction with the stage of the season that they occured at makes it a bottlejob, imo as much as it's a bitter pill to swallow.
* They were a young side that were inexperienced in how to navigate their way through a title run in & were ultimately found out by a side that had been their & done it before. Our rawness & naivety came to the fore in that final stretch. We look as if we've learned lessons from last season & hopefully can go one better, but if not, at least keep pace with City till their final game & make them have to win all of their remaining games if they are to win it.
@@sheikhrobbie466 Except he never said Arsenal "bottled it" last year, in fact he actively disagreed with the use of that term. OP just completely made that up. Gary isn't inconsistent, it's just that people constantly lie about what he says, or misunderstand it.
Except that he never said Arsenal "bottled it" last year. Other pundits said that. Gary disagreed with that.
@MarkHogan994 I think we did bottle it last season tbh although I don't think their's any great shame in it as long as it's a one-off when you take into consideration that we had the youngest side in the league up until when we bought Trossard & Jorginhio in January, at which point we narrowly passed Southampton in that metric & they ended up finishing dead last with a whimper & that we didn't have any experienced Pro's besides Jesus & Zinchenko, who we'd only bought that summer, with any experience in a title run in. It was a learning curve last season for this squad & a painful one at that. Hopefully, it steers them in good stead going forward.
Summer 22:"I think Manchester United will finish above Arsenal, they'll struggle to get top 4"
May '23: "Arsenal have folded under the pressure, bottled it".

Great to see Gary Neville on the show
Really agree with Neville on the Chelsea point, we really are an interesting team, one week we look like a top 3 team and the next week we look like we should be in the championship, it's why we're sat in the middle of the table. But depending on how the next 2 years ago, we could become consistently good or consistently bad. It sucks that we need another CB but we do even though we've got the numbers. Without Thiago, we've got 5 CBs: Badiashile, Colwill, Disasi, Chalobah and Fofana. Fofana is always injured, so can't rely on him, Chalobah was out almost the whole season so also injury prone, Bidiashile, Colwill and Disasi all look like decent second CBs, like if you've got them next to a Varane, Van Dijk, Rudiger or Alaba, they could be really good but on their own, they're not it. As for striker, I honestly will take anyone half decent in the premier league, Ivan Toney or Ollie Watkins would be perfect but too expensive, maybe a Chris Wood or Callum Wilson but he's too injury prone. We just need a 28 - 35 year old striker who can guarantee 10 goals a season and play alongside Jackson when we're desperate for a goal, we don't need 100M player in any position and I really hope the club have been paying attention.
Sorry, at no point has Chelsea looked like they are top 3 if you measure them against this season's top 3 they have a lot of shortcomings. You can't measure Chelseas best moments against the average performance of Liverpool arsenal or city. Measure Chelseas best moments against those other teams best moments. There's no comparison
I love the pseudo psychology Neville applies here in relation to Liverpool “not bottling it”…compared to Arsenal supposedly “being overwhelmed”…presumably he’s inferring therefore Arsenal did bottle it. Apparently Liverpool didn’t bottle it but just not at the required level. Just make it up as you go along, Gary…
I can explain. Arsenal were top of the league by about 9 points and the pressure got to them and they started losing games. That's a lot like bottling it but I don't want to offend so I wouldn't use that word. Liverpool are chasing two massive teams in arsenal and City with a squad that is midway through a rebuild. I hope that helps you understand mate

Great to see a variety of guests on the podcast!
Manchester United vs Arsenal and Spurs vs City, two title challengers playing vs the local rival of their challenger. That may well decide the title. If Arsenal don't win it, it will be that Villa game, where a win would have put them top of the table, that we look back at. Given what happened at Anfield earlier in the day, that was a pressure game.
gary love how youve matured my boy evry word was spot on and u articulate yourself at the highest level with ur analysis of teams and the game ur always fair with ur point and this is comin from a Arsenal fan that was right there in those days of the 90s when it was just Arsenal and Man U for the title keep doin ur thing gary up most respect!
Great guest this week. More of this please!!
Mentioned everything good about the ref including full analysis of what happened with Saka and Ben Davis, while totally ignoring the fact that there was a clear penalty that the ref and VAR messed up which lead directly to Saka’s goal. That was a key point in that game.
As a Spurs fan, I don't feel that we were out played or deserved to lose but...I have to say, Arsenal are a well organised, solid side. To potentially have 89 points and a GD of 57+ and not win the league, you're very, very unlucky (maybe even cheated 💰💰💰). That being said, I'll take anything so you don't win the league!!
Cheers mate. I think that's a 100% astute assessment. Arsenal fan here and I can relate with not finishing chances after lots of great build-up play. The second half was just sheer chaos after Raya's blunder but that's so often how these go. If people would take the hate out of it let's be honest they absolutely both play some of the more entertaining football in the PL by far and forget rivalries City have just continued to make a mockery of the sport. :/
You got destroyed lad. Silly GK error and a rash challenge from Rice were the only reasons you got goals.
u weren’t outplayed but u we’re deffo lucky coz the score line is flattering you should’ve really been 5-2 down if i’m being nice
I can't believe they went in 3-0 down at half time. Got incredibly unlucky
I'm a Spurs fan too and I agree with tmoody999, we were in it but Arsenal are stronger this year and Rice has made a big difference.
I am happy though, we are at the start of Ange's reign and I am happy with the progress we have made so far despite recent results. I'd be happy with 5th.
As for the doubters, you expect too much too soon. City, Liverpool and now Arsenal took time to build in to championship challenging teams. It takes time so we need patience!
17:20 everyone forgets they bought Jackson as second choice behind Nkunku.
So when Arsenal drop off at the end of last season with the youngest team in the league “bottlers”

Liverpool have been top of the league the most amount of days this season. Interesting no chat about bottling the league. Levels.
Once again Gary Neville with unbearable commentary during an Arsenal game. The 90 minutes of speaking revolves around him “ wishing what would happen” as opposed to what’s going on. The man was crying when Tottenham rightfully had Van de Vens goal ruled out.

Great discussion here. Very interesting.
My 2 cents on Spurs and Ange - This is the first season of Ange and the first season is about stamping a playing style and make sure the club follows the style. It's not the season to do minor changes during games because it causes confusion within the club and within the players ( keep in mind that this is a squad that played in a defensive style for 3-4 years) . I see Ange doing tactical tweaks in his second season when he has a more complete squad with players that he wants. Everyone needed a project with Ange but no one has the patience to go through the project. I have watched enough football to understand that the media and the fans are reactionary. We will see in a years time.

Liverpool only ever had a 2 point lead at any stage during this season, not like Arsenal blowing an 8 point lead. Couple that with some atrocious VAR decision in huge games against Spurs, Arsenal, and Man City, which would have two way swings for both sides and the fact Liverpool had 13 injuries at once 7 of which first team (just look at the team that won the cup) whilst Arsenal have been pretty lucky to have 85% of their starting 11 play premier league matches and champions league with 0 rotation and only Timber be out its slightly more forgivable.

How are Arsenal scoring all these goals without a striker? Liverpool have many but their strikers running blanks game after game now.

Gary is spot on with VAR being positive when used well.
My unbiased opinion is VAR can only truly be 100% correct on offsides.
Everything else, especially fouls and pens, are so subjective, and left to interpretation over slo-motion replay.
Some days the same kinda foul, or handball, is not given. Other days they are given.
But Offsides are literal logic and lines. There's no grey area.
VAR should be used more for Offsides and less for pens and fouls.
Passion from Gary on the Chelsea squad? Odd guy
Excellent analysis on all subjects. Chelsea one, very true. They look so dangerous and very efficient on end chances on the counter, just poor finishing. Need a proper captain imo. Liverpool were hanging on for a long time, found out when arsenal outplayed them massively, n beat them. But man for man, none of there players get in arsenal or city 1st team, and then man for man, none of arsenal team get in citys 1st team, so arsenal doing very well, even making it interesting. Just strange how, so many pundits, media want arsenal to fail, when surely it would be great for the league for them to do so? Opinions & comments welcome.
