The victorian author was Charles Dickens, easy to confuse with the name Charles Dickenson! A Christmas Carrol is such a great story of Charles Dickens. My favorite movie version is A Muppet Christmas Carrol 🥰 I kept thinking how it was essentially a quiche with no crust. Probably would be a neat quiche with crust and maybe some bacon and cheese added in 😊 I plan to try one of these recipes some day! Love your channel! Congrats on the start of your house build!
I adore you two. Thank you for taking us back to a time where our ancestors lived. It is interesting to see how they managed to live without modern luxuries.
My grandparents called Memorial Day “Decoration Day”. I’m in my 50s. My grandparents would bring me to the cemeteries and put flowers at the headstones of not just veterans, but also their parents and deceased loved ones.
Hi Justine & Ron, Congratulations on your new home & upcoming wedding! Just a note in history: the famous Victorian author (of such books as Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, & A Tale of Two Cities) was Charles Dickens, not Charles Dickenson. Hi MishMish stay safe out there! Michelle Clapham
I've always loved "breakfast for dinner" , eggs, toast and bacon, this dish is right up my alley. But I would roast the chicken instead of boiling, add some cheese and maybe a puff pastry top. Just a thought, Ron, have you ever done any food challenges? You'd be an awesome professional eater! You demolished that dish! 😂🤘 I love this, stay blessed Justine and Ron, and always rock out together 🤘🤩🤘
I was going to say it's like a quiche without cheese. I can eat quiche any time of the day. Ron, that chicken pudding really was a 9 for you. You forget that Ron has a big appetite. Congratulations on the start of you house building project. How exciting!
Love your channel! Your little cabin is so comforting. I can't wait for the Fall and Christmas to see your decorations. Congratulations on your concrete pour!
God created the chicken, and the chicken made the eggs. If the eggs were first, there would be no one to sit on them and make them warm enough to hatch, lol.
Ron just tore into that "Pudding"!!! It's always such a pleasure to be invited to your table. Thank you both so much. You both are just such a joy!! ;-))))
Four helpings - Wow! I imagine you always work very hard, Ron, so you need the "fuel"! I can remember having such a good appetite when I was an active and growing 11 or 12 year old. I think I would agree with you, Justine, about the chicken pudding. I like firmer egg based foods and I love bacon quiche. I'm excited along with you two about the next stage in getting your "forever home" built! 🏡💑
Watching Ron put away that food takes me back to when my big cousin came to visit. I was like 12 and he was 16 and athletic… me being an only child I was not prepared for the food competition 🤦🏽♀️🤣😂. I grew up with cousins in the same house at one point, be we were all girls 🤣😂
I'm up for breakfast any old time of day. I'd love it. Gonna try it. Hey I'm from Wisconsin. Happy Birthday Wisconsin. Yes Memorial Day was call Decoration Day...You decorated your families graves. Yay! your foundation finally. Woo Hoo. So exciting you guys.
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Ron move his plate and put the dish of food in front of him, good thing Justine didn't want anymore!!🤣Love both of your youtube sites by the way!
I am so glad that Mish Mish is ok! Years ago I had a cat that was allowed inside and outside. One night there was an awful noise and cat screaming sounds coming from outside. They woke up the whole house. We ran out and a red fox ran off leaving my poor kitty barely alive. We lived on the edge of town very near a canyon in Idaho. We had no idea that there was a fox out there. Occasional mountain lion in the canyon, skunks, but we learned there are fox around here. (It came back a few more times) Back then ( about 34 years ago) there wasn't an emergency vet at night and it was about 2am when this happened. Finally around 7am I reached someone at the vets office and we rushed in. Poor kitty, her name was Snowball. The vet tried to save her, her insides were no longer where they should be, (I won't give details), and after hours of surgery the vet could not save her. He felt bad and I cried and cried. I think I was about 12 years old and had begged for a cat for a long time before getting one. I had raised her from a small kitten. The vet told us in the future if we have cats they needed to be kept inside all the time, or outside all the time so they know how to survive. I have had more cats over the years, but they are never allowed out. The vet said fox do kill cats, especially if they are hungry enough to venture to the edges of town where humans are. I think it just isn't talked about much. Before that I had thought that fox were so cute, after that I have never looked at one the same. Sorry for the long ramble, but I love cats and enjoy seeing Mish Mish so much! He looks like an all black kitty I use to have named Lovey, who was the runt of the litter that I bottle raised. Lovey thought I was her mom, and lived to be 19 years old. Please keep Mish Mish safe! Thank you so much for all your work and videos!
I’ve been over watching Early American and so happy for you guys almost reaching 1 million subscribers on that channel. Keep it up because I love these recipes.
Love quiche, even for dinner. With toast and jelly. Not sure about the chicken in it though would be kinda bland...but it looks great and Ron is really enjoying it.
I love both your channels! I have much more appreciation for the modern cooking conveniences after watching what you have to deal with. I love to cook and hope I would have loved it even had I been born in the 1800s. I was born in the "Show Me" state and have a lifelong fondness for Missouri. Your programs are so entertaining I never seem to watch anything else in the evening. Thanks for sharing all the trouble you two go to. You have created an amazing and satisfying life for yourselves.
We lived in a condo in Colorado in a well established neighborhood. We had deer, fox and coyotes. Those foxes went after our cat, so I think it depends on what is available to eat.
I hate missing Chew & Chats now but it conflicts with Bible study here. I'm so excited for you both. The house will be done before you know it. I just adore watching the both of you, MishMish & Alfred! Stay awesome, Justine & Ron! xoxo
very good vid. The effort and time you take cooking, presenting, editing even down to the decorating details is appreciated. Hope the new homestead is coming along
If you want to make an Early American/Modern American dish add cheese, onions, some chopped vegetables. I have tried some of your recipes and love them.
Hey, thanks for the tip on Arrow Rock. My hubby and I will be traveling to MO in about a week or so. Maybe we'll get a chance to check it out. We are thinking about moving there and are scoping out places to possibly live. Hopefully, we'll be going by St Genevieve. I live near Johnstown, PA and have seen where everything happened. It is a very tragic story. Hope you both have a great week! Sue ♥
here in the appalachian area decoration day is a day observed to decorate cemeteries at the churches with a potluck dinner on the grounds at the church...
I'm sure some other folks have mentioned this but the author was Charles Dickens (or if you prefer the Monty Python version: Charles Dikkens (Dikkens with 2 Ks the well known Dutch author). Andrew Jackson killed someone names Charles Dickinson.
Arrow Rock has a great regional theater company built in a historic church called the Lyceum Theatre. They do plays in the summertime. Worth checking out next time your there.🙂
Never heard of Arrow Rock, but it sounds like a great place! I live in California but I visit my sister in Nebraska every summer so I might be able to go to Arrow Rock at some point! Sorry to hear about your chickens, though. Those raccoons and foxes are SNEAKY and persistent!
Guess you need to make a waddle fence arround the chicken coup. So sorry for the loss of your chickens. You two are so fun. Thank you for your videos and the history lesson. Duels were a way of preserving ones honer. It was excepted even though it was illegal.
I was thinking perhaps the receipt was trying to suggest a thin roux to be made. The flour being added to the melted butter perhaps giving it more of a gravy? Recipes didn't seem too detailed back then. Ps love watching Justine cook all these dishes then coming here to chat, you guys are great! Congrats on the house update!
Love your channels guys. You are both so entertaining and very easy to listen and to watch. Ron you are cool but Justine is such a doll. You are very fortunate to have her Ron.
It’s like they used to do in France. Omelets we’re eaten at all times of day, per my family history. It’s like a deconstructed omelet. ❤ Pretty cool historical recipe, American style 🇺🇸
You two are definitely relationship goals, sort of remindes me of my husband and I. 🥰 Congratulations on the house progress! It takes alot of time to build your own, I'm so glad you guys are sharing this joirney with us.. I have to agree with Justine on this one, I was going to rate a 7 before trying it the explained texture just throws me off a bit. I'm not a fan of boiled chicken. 😅 That's so awesome! I love old taverns, we have one up here in PA, it's near Bedford called Jean Bonnet tavern... I believe George Washington and his troops passed through there and farmers involved in the Whiskey Rebellion used to meet there also. They have some great food, highly recommend if you ever come visit PA. 😊 Bedford is very historic and worth checking out! Not many people know about the johnstown flood, thanks for acknowledging it.
Justine and Ron,good to each other..I have very certain uncanny feeling, you guys see your 70th wedding adversary..congrats. Love you guys,we will always stay the same.
My initial thought when this was being made was....quiche. That's just what it looks like. I would totally eat, it looks yummy. And I eat eggs any time of the day LOL!
We always have a breakfast dinner at least once a month. It’s fun and yummy! It’s just a baked chicken omelette! 😂 I would imagine people ate eggs for dinner a lot back then when times were tough! I’m so glad your kitty is ok. 😊
You guys should go see the Alamo in San Antonio. I know it’s not the same exactly as what y’all do but I think you would enjoy it! Lots of History in Texas!
I’m one of those people who can eat breakfast at any time and often do! 🥰💕❤️👍👍 I would probably use ham or bacon instead of boiled chicken though. 🤷♀️
I got my coloring book from you last week. I showed it to my daughter who is a middle school teacher's aide ( soon to be teacher) and she said that would be good for the middle schoolers to learn some history from. So you need to think about getting a copyright and Publishing it
I think the word you are looking for is frittata - crustless quiche The egg came first. Eggs were around long before the chicken. The author is Charles Dickens. 🙂

I love how Ron admires Justine's cooking. Eats it all up!! ❤ You two are so cute! 😊
My grandparents called Memorial Day “Decoration Day”. I’m in my 50s. My grandparents would bring me to the cemeteries and put flowers at the headstones of not just veterans, but also their parents and deceased loved ones.
We still have Decoration day at our old Primitave Baptist Church in the Mtns. Warms my heart to see someone else that knows what decoration day is. ❤
I would have to add a lot to this. Onion greens, garlic, broccoli, CHEESE, served with honestock chicken gravy with toast/biscuits
Hi Justine & Ron,

I live I. ALTOONA PA 40 minutes from Johnstown. There was another flood there in the mid 1970s when I was child.
I always watch Justine make it before I watch the Chew and Chat. Love you guys.
I was going to say it's like a quiche without cheese. I can eat quiche any time of the day. Ron, that chicken pudding really was a 9 for you. You forget that Ron has a big appetite. Congratulations on the start of you house building project. How exciting!
Greetings from Florida! Congratulations on building your new house! 🎉 Thanks for all the effort you guys put into making these videos! God bless.
Love your channel! Your little cabin is so comforting. I can't wait for the Fall and Christmas to see your decorations. Congratulations on your concrete pour!
Congratulations on the building of your home!!
Yay!!! House!! So cool - looking forward to seeing the process! You three are awesome (including Mish-Mish here!)
Omg! Fangirling right now because I just noticed I have the same tea pot as you guys lol! Most exciting thing to happen to me all week 😂
God created the chicken, and the chicken made the eggs. If the eggs were first, there would be no one to sit on them and make them warm enough to hatch, lol.
I think a more interesting question is who was the first person to try an egg?
I'm betting they lost a bet.
😆
@@davidhealey4759 😂😂😂
Well, I ordered a chicken and an egg online. I'll let you know which one comes first. 😂
I hear ya, but who created God?
Ron just tore into that "Pudding"!!! It's always such a pleasure to be invited to your table. Thank you both so much. You both are just such a joy!! ;-))))

Thanks Ron and Justine. Congrats on the progress on your home! The quiche-like chicken pudding looked tasty - Ron ate all of it! LOL!
Thank You Ron & Justine! GOOD JOB!
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Ron move his plate and put the dish of food in front of him, good thing Justine didn't want anymore!!🤣Love both of your youtube sites by the way!
Sliced tomatoes would be nice! Love you guys!
That looks absolutely delightful and I bet it tastes even better! Looks like Ron likes it!
that tavern/museum looks awesom, I would totoall eat there....LOL the painting of the lady giving the finger!! Holy smokes!!
Decoration Day many people when and trimmed up and cleaned (decorated) their local Cemetary

I definitely like breakfast at any time of the day! French toast for dinner? Pancakes? Yes please!
The interior of the Hudson Tavern looks like some houses on my street and all over Salem town. You simply must come to New England!
I’ve been over watching Early American and so happy for you guys almost reaching 1 million subscribers on that channel. Keep it up because I love these recipes.
I have a feeling that in 1824, they weren't picky on WHEN they ate something, as long as they had something to eat.
I'm sure Justine knows that. She is rating the dish in her OPINION. Why don't you make it and see what you rate it.
Simplicity at its best. Looks great. 👍
Love quiche, even for dinner. With toast and jelly. Not sure about the chicken in it though would be kinda bland...but it looks great and Ron is really enjoying it.
Memorial Day was always May 30th until they started moving it to the closest Monday to make it a 3 day weekend in 1970

Looks good to me 😁 I bet this would be awesome with a side of fried potatoes 😋
We lived in a condo in Colorado in a well established neighborhood. We had deer, fox and coyotes. Those foxes went after our cat, so I think it depends on what is available to eat.
Love Arrow Rock. Never ate at the tavern (it's usually closed) but the pizza across the street is wonderful as is the ice cream shop next to it!!
Y’all’s MishMish impersonation was on point! 😂
I hate missing Chew & Chats now but it conflicts with Bible study here. I'm so excited for you both. The house will be done before you know it. I just adore watching the both of you, MishMish & Alfred! Stay awesome, Justine & Ron! xoxo
Sorry about the chickens 😢. Glad Ron liked the meal. See you next week ❤❤

A great high protein breakfast…I would totally have it in the morning! Greetings from Montana and see you next week! 🇺🇸😊❤
Good evening to you both. Enjoy your dinner. I like a breakfast anytime.
If you want to make an Early American/Modern American dish add cheese, onions, some chopped vegetables. I have tried some of your recipes and love them.

I am heavily reminded of a frittata. That’s what this dish looks like.
Praying all goes well with your new home! I am so excited for you!!
No food goes to waste with Ron lol. Great appetite
Good morning, Justine and Rod, I'm looking forward to your chew and chat❤

That dish is called “mother and child reunion”. A Paul Simon song too.
Blessed be to Our God, for you both and your new house. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thank you for the video! So excited for you both! God bless, direct & keep y'all safe!

For those without meat available, an egg base for protein is brilliant! Enjoy! It’s breakfast time somewhere in the world!
Thank you both on the up date on the house . God bless yous and stay safe
So happy for you guys that your foundation is getting put in! We built many years ago….it’s exciting!!!
I love this ❤ u guys have triggered my old school spirit for food & other things. God Bless u. 🎉

Received the coloring book today, nice! For future copies, maybe add the artist Ron's name and date published.
Great chat as always! I don't think I'll be trying this one. Love the history section. I learn something new every week.
Thank you Justine and Ron for these Awesome videos!🙂
Congratulations on your new home 🏡
Breakfast for Supper (Dinner) has always been a thing!
Hi Ron and Justine! Missed the chew and chat but watching now! This would be good for breakfast, lunch, or dinner for me. Looks yummy!
Love both channels and especially little Alfred at the and also congrats on your new home keep up the great work 😊❤. 8:13
I love breakfast for dinner and I love chicken so I might have to talk the family into trying this.
"It looks like a quiche". That was my first thought when I saw it on Early American.
With scallions and some mushrooms it might take on more character.
That man can eat!😊
Hey, my husband sent you an email about sending you his books. Our cat MacLovin’ loves your cat.
The books will arrive June 9th. We hope you like them. He is a Son of the American Revolution with many descendants who are patriots.
I just made this tonight. I admit i threw in some shredded cheese. I loved it!
Ron is gonna pop!! 5th helping!! 😂😂😂
Thanks!
Great channel. Love what you guys do. Keep them coming!! God bless
I’m one of those people who can eat breakfast at any time and often do! 🥰💕❤️👍👍 I would probably use ham or bacon instead of boiled chicken though. 🤷♀️

I always eat Chicken for breakfast with my eggs. I love the combination in omelets.
I would totally try that!
Chicken Fritatta basically. Would be good with some peppers, onions and mushrooms!
That dish does sounds good and as your house congrats on ground braking can't wait to see finished house bless you both
Wow. I thought you lived in that really cool cozy cabin there?
Wow, sooooooooo lucky to have that much land that you can build a house. I need a partner that will work toward that with me.
I think the word you are looking for is frittata - crustless quiche
The egg came first. Eggs were around long before the chicken.
The author is Charles Dickens. 🙂
This looks really good!!!!
