Candlepins for cash was without a doubt one of the funniest show ever on local TV. Anyone remember the guy who lost the ball bringing it back and it went into the audiience. Gramire could not stop laughing and neither could everyone at home.
born and raised in Brighton where we were regulars at Sammy White's then later lived in west rox near the other Sammy White's. been out of mass for so long but most of the bowling alleys were already gone when I left.
This isn't interviewing, it is interrogation! I used to play candle pins at the Lucky Strike Lanes in Dorchester about 40 years ago, used to go on saturday mornings, I think it was like .75 a set then. I watched this program alot also. The Johnson guy had a wicked baw-stun accent, haven't heard that in a while.
I had the worst crush on Bob "Two Beer" Gamere... The poor guy was in the news a few times for getting beaten up after having a few drinks and propositioning straight guys. We hooked up one night in the Fenway... end of crush. A drunken mess.

The old 25 logo looked like it was in the style of the current, long time ESPN logo
Never grew up in the Boston area but looking at these shows brings back memories of how television was with real people.
Metro Boston was more Blue Collar in the 70's
Yep now it’s gentrified/ yuppified and priced out of sight. I left 28 years ago.
Too bad Bob Gamere got into trouble in recent years, but this was classic for him.

Why would he ask, "What was your single name?" Very weird looking back at it.

You actually hooked up with Gamere?
what a waste of time made $9.00. cheapest pay out in a game show.
6:05--What's so funny about "Dingwell?" Obviously Bob had a few before the show ;-)
