Actually, Mantas was nicknamed Venom in a biker gang he was in. There was a band called Oberon which featured Mantas & Abbadon. Thereafter, Cronos & Mantas met. Cronos mentioned I want to create a Satanic band, Mantas agreed. Cronos joined as second guitar player. In short, got rid of bass player, Cronos took over bass duties. Still had vocalist Clive Archer, which Cronos had also replaced. The name came from Mantas, but the idea of Black Metal & the entity in which Venom became was from Cronos.
in my country there's a common said: "more clear than water". I make a statement and change that to: "more clear than Cronos". Venom never sold out. "Lay down your soul to the gods rock `n' roll"...
People credit Metallica as being the most influential band in Metal. But for people who do not know, Venom influenced the Thrash bands as follows Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, etc. as well as other Metal genres Black Metal and Death Metal. Venom had already paved the way for most Metal acts to follow back in 81& 82, before Metallica. VENOM is probably the most influential Hardcore Metal band ever. Also, to me both Welcome To Hell & Black Metal are much better albums than Kill 'em All.
If you don't dig that deep into metal then people say Metallica is most influential. After 1985 Metallica just decided to go for the money and make shitty radio music. Venom never gave a fuck about that. That's why there not recognized as much as Metallica.
RMTmusic1 Man, I completely agreed with your comment. Metallica was big (I mean not Huge mainstream commercial bullshit band) 'till " Cliff''s death. Even Pantera (to me one of the greatest metal bands) got the influence of Venom. btw to me Cronos beat Dolan. Agree with cronos at 6:256:45...
I love Cronos, but why did he leave Venom? He created Venom. Instead, he left and created cock rock band Cronos. What a disgrace in the face O.G. VENOM LEGIONS!
Actually, Mantas created Venom, Cronos was the last person to join before the Welcome to hell, but was by far the most prolific member
I seriously liked Cronos solo work , it was great raw 80s heavy metal... seriously under rated. A more heavy metal version of calm before the storm .
Witb great musicians

Mike Coffey of Stone Vengeance has it right. Same message I have been saying.

You are not a Venom fan. You are an Atomkroft fan. Cronos is Venom.
Witching Hour
@musicfolife1 Bloodlust
Come on, Tony Dolan was kick ass, fuck what Cronos thinks, he is just jealous of Tony.
@bassplayrCL That version of Venom was shit anyway xD
You know what cronos, your one to say venom without cronos wasnt as tight, tony dolan was miles ahead of cronos, now THAT proof is in the pudding
I love Cronos, but why did he leave Venom? He created Venom. Instead, he left and created cock rock band Cronos. What a disgrace in the face O.G. VENOM LEGIONS!
I liked both, but tony dolan was a better bass player.
