  • Sequoias are big trees, some of the biggest on planet Earth. This is part 2 of my "Music for Nature" series where I compose music to accompany my own videos of nature. These massive trees all interconnect through their deep root systems, and so I thought it would be interesting to have a choir of low voices join to give them their warm and heavy sound, blending them with low organ pedal pipes, this became the sequoia's deep and resonant texture. On top, along with the leaves and branches, we have the tenor recorder, crotales (tuned metal percussion), piano, and guitar, an old but familiar sound of the rustic outdoors.

Wonderful foray Into the Woods, with music perfectly appropriate for an adventure. The sonorous baseline theme matches the grandeur of these forest sentinels. Nice camera work, too. Well done and thank you for sharing it.

Thanks, Brooks! As always, pipe organ is used throughout, and hides well in this. The trees certainly reminded me of pedal pipes, so those double the low voices. And there are smaller flute stops adding some rhythmic vitality underneath parts of it as well.

I just watched this video and the music as well as the pictures are amazing! I think that the music kind of enhances the feeling of the trees being so majestic - at least that’s what it makes me feel like. Great work!

Thank you! Your compliments mean a lot to me. This video and my "Music for Flowers" video are some of my favorite pieces I've made on my channel, and yet are some of the least-watched.

@@aaronshows Really? For me it’s hard to believe that people don’t watch these videos because I also watched the “Music for Flowers” video and I like that one a lot, too. BTW, I also watched Jerry playing your version of the Wexford Carol and I don’t understand how you can figure out how it works with those harmonies. I once made a cover of it, too, but mine is much simpler. I tried to sing it in Irish, though, which wasn’t easy at all. And luckily there are tools such as Vocal Tune Studio (similar to Auto Tune)! 😅

Thanks, Jerry! These "music for nature" videos are becoming a passion project for me, so I'm always extra glad when they resonate with others as well.
