I don't know what is going on but the Russians are not stupid. They do suffer from corruption and maybe that is what happened in Kursk. Or maybe the Russians are sacrificing the queen for check mate?
The Ukrainians have basically become raiders in the Russian territory. They will soon be trying to get back to Ukrainian territory before being captured or killed
The Ukrainian forces in Kursk are not conducting an offensive in the classical sense. They are mainly concerned with somehow squeezing small units through the gaps in the Russian defense lines to get to a new village and create media content, not to gain operational advantage, so that more confusion amongst the Russians can be created via the mediasphere. It seems like the Russian method to contain and then defeat the offensive is to build strong fortifications along a large perimeter, to cordon off the area and prevent Ukrainian units from wiggling through, and as a starting line for the Russian forces to recapture lost ground from there. It makes also sense to evacuate the civilians in the wider area, so that the Russian forces can make use of their firepower advantage more freely.
We saw in the video that Ukrainians started fortifying villages and towns like Sudzha with land mines and etc. small Ukrainian forces that go further are there to distract Russians and let main Ukrainian military forces fortify safely
That flag was brought yesterday, immediately after the AID men together with the Ackmath retook the territory, and today those terrorists are dead. The troops of the Chechen and Armenian divisions do not take any prisoners.
Meanwhile the Ukrainians make rapid advances into Russia. Far more rapid than Russia made into Ukraine. The "noise" will be used to vindicate the funding of the war from US etc and backing of NATO and the narrative used to defeat Trump in the Presidential election, that's the plan. Nobody expects the Russians won't stabilize the situation in the coming weeks and ultimately take back the territories but the goal of the operation is not to secure Russian territory but to "vindicate" the backing of Ukraine and prove they can deal the Russians damage so that the war can be perpetuated. The war is ultimately meant to drain Russia and support for Putin rather than defeat Russia militarily. It is a conventional hot version of cold war strategy.
NATO is not a defensive alliance. They illegally bombed Yugoslavia (direct violation of the UN Charter). We must never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria etc
People keep focusing on Ukranian attack in Kursk but totally ignore that while Ukraine gained territory there, they lost a lot more territory elsewhere. Tactically a total failure in the long run and will just give Russia more internal excuses to mobilize or escalate.
Have you done the math on that or are you talking out of your ass? Exactly how much territory was captured by Ukrainian forces vs Russian forces since the start of the Kursk offensive?
this works for the western audience. its scary how effective it is. if i tell people to look at the whole picture - even referencing the NYT...they think i am crazy!
No matter how the war ends; strategically speaking, with two new NATO members and complete osterization from global economy, is it a W or a L for Russia and it's people?
I laugh out loud at the deliberate ignorance of many individuals. The Armed Forces of Ukraine occupied (do not control) 400 km2 of the territory of the Kursk region, and the entire territory covers an area of 29,000 km2. For comparison, Russian troops control about 109,000 km2 of the territory of the former Ukraine. And the whole of Russia occupies more than 17,000,000 km2. There will not be enough Ukrainians even if they are placed one per square kilometer. What are the prospects for the Ukrainian occupiers - figure it out for yourself. If you think they are good, then go back to school, to the 4th grade!
Before the offensive started most maps only showed Km of incursion by Russia, now somehow Km2 is a factor for the territories taken by Ukraine, but without comparing that in the same manner to the Km2 lost. Even if the goal of the offensive is to trade territory gained in Russia for territory in Ukraine, it's nowhere close to be an even trade. It would be important to show the Km2 gains and losses since the offensive started, to give people an understanding of the losses in Ukraine.
This offensive is only good for one thing: Feeding the western narrative. "It is going great for Ukraine". It is all very sad. The Russians are likely very happy just destroying equipment and soldiers for as long as the Ukrainians (with the help from all the western backers) are sending them into the Russian territory. Just like Krinky. Remember? Exactly the same. A senseless offensive which ended up costing thousands of Ukrainians life. With absolutely no gains at all. Same story from all MSM at that time,- Impressive Ukrainians showing force and determination. As I said: very sad. All soldiers have family, friends and perhaps children. Just sad.
You think you are so smart? Did you ever think about the purposes of Ukraine when they started the "special military" on Russian soil? They would not just occupy Russian territories and it's long story that highly biased people like you won't be able to understand.

All NATO has to do is send Kyiv munitions, equipment and money, which, as any general knows, is the c h e a p e s t way to wage war. (...) The lives are being given by the Ukrainians. They’re defending their nation but also, inadvertently, helping decide the Cold War. For 70 years, NATO deterred a Moscow attack westwards. The Russians eventually invaded, last February, what they assumed would be a conquerable target on their south-western border. The war that NATO long prepared for is finally being fought.

@@SuperChampion333 how so? In 5-10 nobody remembers this. People will remember only stupid and desperate offensive that led to inevitable ukr defeat in this war
At least the war is very dynamic now. Lots of things happening on different fronts. If it's true that Ukraine sent most of their troops to Kursk, it should give Russia opportunities to advance towards Charkiv. Russia don't need to be stressed about Ukraine taking some countryside and settlements in the Kursk area because it has no strategic value at all. Russia need to defend the Kursk powerplant though, as that was the Ukrainians goal, and probably still is.
I noticed the hysteria by Ukraine supporters who haven't had anything much to celebrate over the last year continue, but the Ukrainian adventure into Kursk has failed. Today the Ukr 80th and 82nd brigades have started withdrawing having lost their combat abilities with and 30%-50% of equipment and manpower destroyed. And Overall in just a few days KIA 3-5,000 and all goals failed. 1.The Primary objective of capturing the NPP by Aug 11th - failure 2. Secondary Objective of drawing Russian Soldiers from other Fronts - failure Meanwhile the front in the Donbas continues to move in Russia's favor remember Russia controls 22% of former Ukraine (a figure that will further increased by Russian gains in Donbass earlier today and the buffer zones Russia will establish soon) 1. Pokrovsk - Russian forces are less than 13 kilometers from Pokrov 2. New York - Over the past 24 hours Russian Forces now control 80% of New York. 3. Toretsk - Zheleznoye (Artemovo),captured with Toretsk now 15 km away. Toretsk has Cole Production worth billions of dollars and the last major transport hub for the Kiev regime army. 4. Ivanovka - The Russian military took control 5. Orlovka and Zhuravka in the Pokrovsk region 50% in control by Russia I predict big moves by Russia very soon a price to pay for attacking Russia.
Your analysis is on point. This all is to try divert attention away from a collapsing centre. In conjunction with trying to stay relevant with what is unfolding in the Middle East. Corporate America is trying to guarantee their loans through these fake successes. Same reason they are trying to allow manufacturing of American defence products on Ukrainian soil as a means of slowly roping Ukraine into NATO. Trump needs to get elected, will make this more streamlined.
Whilst there are still substantial numbers of Ukranian troops in control of certain areas in Kursk, that is a fairly acurate summary of the state of play. Oleksandr Syrsky has already transferred the 128th Brigade from Vovchansk to the Pokrovsk region as Russia further gains territory. It remains to be seen if this huge failed gamble by Ukraine turns out to be catastrophic.
Zelenskyy Kursk misadventure already failed. Zelenskyy had a pipe dream to capture Kursk NPP. Capturing at such a staggering cost a string of villages in the middle of nowhere that can't be held makes zero military sense. Zelenskyy wasted so far 2,300 troops KIA, 279 armored vehicles, 15 artillery systems, 4 anti-aircraft systems on this another costly PR misadventure while vital Ukrainian positions at the actual front are crumbling. It's the same nutty pattern as was with Bakhmut, Krinky or a publicly announced failed Zelenskyy offensive in 2023. Zelenskyy is the gift that keeps on giving to the Russians advised by even nuttier DC gifts.
I like your positivity. Even when Russians fails, we still support them the same. But in this situation, you do understand that for Russia to push out Ukraine will mean to absolutely flatten the own land, and then rebuild it. No matter how we look at this, this is a fail.

For some reason dima has chosen to quote the UKR and not the RUS who have usually been much more truthful. Watch Alexander Mercouris if you want a comprehensive picture. I am unsubbing from MS.
Sadly, Ukrainian sources are the most active in this war. So MS has to use them. That worked out right when the Russians were advancing, but now that the opposite is the case it works against Dima. It was always obvious that Dima was pro-Russian, I think he got spooked and rattled by this offensive and his methods of using geo locations now work against him when the AFU is more busy posting selfies then holding territory. On the flipside, do you really want a news source that only tells you what you want to hear all the time? I still think Dima does a better job covering this offensive then the MSM.

Again people are focused on territory, whereas the principle Russian strategy is one of aggressive attrition. The current Ukrainian offensive generates short term gains, territory, propaganda, morale, BUT it puts the Ukrainian logistics under stress, it depletes reserves in men and materiel at an increased rate and brings the Ukrainian forces where the Russians want to have them, exposed and in range. This offensive ultimately gives the Russian military even more opportunity to follow their strategy of aggressive attrition. However the relatively unprotected border region did give the West a big propaganda victory and depending on the Russian public morale, may negatively affect their support of the government, military command and war in general. Right now this is definitely a Ukrainian propaganda victory, but it will most likely turn into a major Russian military victory if given time to develop.

You have some of the most detailed and informative maps on youtube, especially with the addtion of the supporting videos, images or notifications. Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity. In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas. If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy. Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements. Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time. Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns. 20th September, 2021: Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO. NATO is not a defensive alliance. Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”. Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it. Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country. Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list. There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence). The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present. Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave. The negative is that the same dynamism makes it harder for them to maintain accuracy in their daily reports. Eg. many times today's report contradicts a lot of yesterday's report. In a grander strategy, Russia wants Ukrainian army to collapse for the lack of willing manpower (i.e. people who want to fight) and Ukraine wants to undermine the support of government in Russia. Ukraine seems to be a terror state by now, which works only through injections of resources from NATO, Russia must be self sufficient and the popular support is more critical.
Thankyou for the report. The Russians are making some impressive moves, but evidently at a very high cost in terms of men and equipment. They are paying very heavily for every foot of Ukraine that they gain control over. That is extremely sad and it should never have happened. We have to assume that Russia will have to commit a very large number of additional troops and other assets to the expanded line of contact, now that Ukraine and Russia have both chosen to extend that into the Kharkiv and Kursk areas. It will definitely stretch the existing resources and we have to question how much more the Russians can deploy into the contested areas, as a whole, before Winter arrives. That too will be a crucial factor for both sides in terms off what they can gain, and what they can hold.
dude there is no semblance of control in Kursk by either side. The RF has a cordon. Inside that cordon, the AFU is driving around and taking a lot of pictures. Their vehicles get destroyed at some point and they linger in the villages or the forests. The RF may drive through the same town later and never know the DRG units are hiding there. Tearing down or putting up flags when there are no fortification nor logistics supply lines is not actual control
The ukrainians will find out like the french and the germans before them, that geting into Russia is one thing, getting out of there alive is an entirely different thing. Besides, they just gave the Russians another excuse to liberate Odessa and link with Transnistria.
This is such nonsense, now because of Russian vehicles being attacked in the middle of what the Ukrainians say they've captured instead of saying it's confirmed Russia has captured it back (like all the other times Ukrainian vehicles were destroyed and you made that area '100% proof Ukraine captured' so Dima you are showing your BS right there. You also know small squads of Ukrainians go speeding through territory (like they did with Kharkov) because there was little to no Russian Personnel) only to make pictures and say 'we have this captured' but they only took pictures for propaganda purposes. So your dual standards in what is captured and why and how you confirm is all BS. Like there's territory that Russia captured a couple weeks ago near Nui York yet it's still marked as white gray zone. More BS from you.
Every day conquered territory expands and Ukr troops move further and further. This confirms that his estimations are mostly correct. There are some videos of captured Russians, so it's not only 'speeding and taking selfies', it's proper offense and Russians will be wise to not underestimate this like You.
He painted such a big territory near Kharkov red just because 2-3 Russian white civil minibuses were sent to die there and were exploded, he even himself said "they all probably destroyed” yet it’s all red on map bs is for the both sides

Please everyone listen to the cardinal birds song 'ukraine matters' it rocks

Also there are moves in chess where you let something unguarded for the enemy to take to lure him into a trap……
In this case, the two sides aren't playing the same game. Or maybe a better way to put it, they appear to playing the same game but are using different sets of rules. In particular, those currently running things in Ukraine are operating on assumptions about Russia that are not true. They think that Russia cares in some way about territorial gains, for instance.
Whack-A-Mole tactics.
Still, I wouldn't want to be the mole.

NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter).
We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster?
Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest.
Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland.
Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed.
Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) R.I.P.
The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).
The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter.

Blows my mind how so many are cheering the Ukrainian advancement into Russia. What will come in the next few weeks will be devastating for them. It’s terrible and these cheerleaders will move on after they won’t hear anything about the upcoming massacre.
Russian silence is what’s scary. They must have something massive planned in response

Kiev killed 12,000 of them for their will to defend their culture and language. Since Kiev refused them the right to keep their culture, they decided to join their motherland. They now can freely keep their language and traditions, which was all they were asking for.
Maybe this, maybe that.
The Kursk offensive reminds me of Ukraine's big super duper counteroffensive of last summer that was heralded and hyped for six months and ended up being pronounced a stalemate by Ukr top general Zaluzhnyi.
Nah not the 2023 super counteroffensive, but the 2022 counteroffensiv in kherson,
Ukraine got themself in a cauldron and got hammered and destroyed , the hospitals in west ukraine couldn't handle .

The netherlands sendet 200 ypr765, 60 were destroyed.
That was a real debacle., so they started to target the karkhovka dam with himars and damaged that dam , also the targeted the two bridges, but himars just make small holes in the road. The railway and the bridge both where in use by the military, the ferry and later the pontoonbridge was for civilians.
After the russian retreated from kherson, the ukrainian didn't want to move to kherson they thought it was a trap, and when they eventually did they lost 8k men more due to shelling
I think that the ukranians are withdrawing their units to the fortifications, because there isnt any positional fighting or counter attacks

This Kursk operation is both a boon and bane for mappers. The plus is that its dynamism has brought in more channel viewers (especially the pro-Kiev guys). The negative is that the same dynamism makes it harder for them to maintain accuracy in their daily reports. Eg. many times today's report contradicts a lot of yesterday's report. Also, the RFAF side reduces or stops the info & video flow from ongoing operations, while the AFU side micro manages the timing of info & video releases to attempt to confuse and panic its enemy. This makes accurate mapping even more difficult. And all this generates so much dissatisfaction and negative comments amongst mappers' audiences, so that some viewers stop watching.

One has to understand that to Russians, government and the people, there is no difference between Kursk and Donetsk, meaning, both are Russian lands where Russian people live. I think that Kursk incursion is a debacle to Russia, but they may have a decent plan to repulse it in reasonable time, while blowing open the fronts in Donetsk oblast. That said, Ukrainian thinking is symmetrical, they have found a way to inflict the pain to Russia to the largest extend in the last year, and loosing in Donetsk region is not particularly important, people there hate Ukrainian authorities anyway.
Some Ukrainians come for a vacation in Russia. Enjoy your stay.
They are not coming back
@@Chris-t9g no I don't think so either
