Glad you liked it! Tell Your friends. The word hoodoo was generally used in new orleans historically but in last 10 years everyone is using it. south Carolina - usually Conjure or it as you say: Root. But New Orleans voodoo is the religion and hoodoo is the folk magic practice" surrounding the religion. the Hoodoo part is mostly practiced more often separately but you can do both, I do. a You could say that more protestant conservative Carolina was totally different animal historically than the alleged decadent catholic colony of New Orleans, (who was more of a displaced Caribbean Colony) . In slavery times the deities of voodoo directly form Africa survived the journey and were and are spiritually served, So Voodoo continued, the dancing and drumming in ritual form at Congo Square kept the spirit alive. You see Catholic colonies did not outlaw music and dancing for the slaves which is a " root " of the religion other than the other root " LOL . I have studied in Carolina and done work there, the practice is different . for one we are still matriarchal New Orleans voodoo. i believe the main difference here is that Voodoo developed openly as the city developed and everyone, al races, sexes and economic levels participated in some way. i you also had different African tribes there than here . You were more Gullah in Carolina /Georgia and we were more Dahomey first, Congo tribe second and a few other nations belief systems coming too. the native american contributions and the spirit of place would be different as well- but we are cousins. so to speak! Thanks for the watch , please subscribe and tell your friends. ill do a show tie my tutor friend who wrote "Blue roots" one day soon

I'm an Irish born and bred witch, we do not say "gone to live with the fairies" when a grandmother dies; we do have fae traditions and maybe at one point those exact words were used but now that is used to say that someone isn't all there. That they are "away with the fairies" meaning their not taking part in this world. They are Day dreamers.

this episode helped me so much I've always seen, heard, felt spirit etc but recently I was chatting online with someone on Skype with a friend and right in front of his face flew what I can only describe as a fairy I have never been as excited because it's something I truly wanted to believe in and what's interesting is this friend is one of the last of his living relatives as well as he just came back from Ireland (his roots) in October so all of this makes sense. Thanks you so much for your show it has helped to better explain this to me! Much Love
Very interesting Bloody Mary thank you for the Chat, because yes it's very well not talked about or people shy away from it so to bring this to people's attention and awareness of Not knowing it's a brilliant topic..
Hi. I lived in New Orleans 7 years up to karina. I lost everything mainly my landscape buisness. Worked for the Favrot Family. I miss there so much. Anyway she. I was 10 ish, I was blessed with seeing the tooth fairy. Yes it is true. If you like I would tell you the story. But the tooth fairy is REAL. THANK YOU for your show. Question if I may. I have always been a good man with faith in God. But I have always worked hard tried to bed the best I can. But I am always very in lucky. Wrong place wrong time sorta thing. Why???? I have had terrible back and knock pain since 6 years old. How can I possibly find out if it's something other than just me. If possible. Thank you so much. I love New Orleans I miss so much. Hi!! About 3:45 there is a shadow that passes by... 🤔
Its very interesting that you still use the moss. I live in Ponchatoula, LA on the Northshore
at the door
Fire ants. Yes ma'am, that'll teach em 😊
Where can I find that opening song?
There is a shadow that passed through at 3:44. Was that a shadow made by someone there with you?
what are the main differences between new Orleans voodoo and hoodoo? Hoodoo is more common in coastal Carolina.
or as its known here "root"
2:19 as soon as you start to speak it stops ..I am not nuts ..wow what does that mean? It's not happening with world surf league?
Thanks for watching. Do yo mean th re video is buffering when i speak while you are watching? it seems to be playing fine over here. It could just be your connection. Try again,
